Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

Dang! What happened? It seems like just yesterday they were itty bitty little babies. Now, they look like 14 yr. old Ho's....the kind who make their daddy's have grey hair and heart attacks.

54 days old for the bagseeds and 44 for the Satori. They've loved the LED glow so far, that's for sure.

Maybe my watering method has helped. I placed the buckets on a table, plugged the hole with the Sharpie pen, flooded the media with nutrient fluid (GH Flora, Lucas formula mix), let it set for 30 seconds, then drained the bucket down catching the runoff in a 5 gallon bucket. The runoff is put back into a gallon jug and topped off with fresh fluid. This is added to the next bucket until all are watered. No appreciable waste and I'm not showing side effects from doing this that I can see so its economics cannot be ignored.
Appreciate you checking in on my hempy attempt.

Hey Munki, looks like the clones are perking back up a little?

Docbud, I read your post and that is no BS. My daughter, while still young is getting to that "point". OH SHIT!

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

Things are looking stellar there in the tent Munki! You're obviously providing a really great environment for those nubile young gals (5 for 5)!

Very much appreciate the contribution of your guest speaker. DocBud, you are awesome! +rep (and it let me do it!):thumb: Thanks to both of you for sharing such a wealth of information and insight!

That Princess Fiona is getting to be a real looker! (wouldn't kick any of them out of my tent!) :grinjoint:

Flower day 10. Fed and watered all plants. Nearly out of the last batch of nutes mixed up a while back. I was able to rinse out the cooler reservoir which stores about 13 gallons. New batch mixed up; 90mL Micro, 180mL Bloom, and 15mL of 15%KOH (pH up). It was stirred well and will now sit for a day, remixed and tested for pH. TDS measurement of nutes without the pH up was 825 ppm (1.18 EC) with a pH reading of 4.7. Looking to see the pH of at least 5.6 tomorrow when I start using it.

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

Flower day 11. Finished up the last batch of nutes today watering all but the Blueberry Wowie. pH in new batch came out to 5.5.

Plants are coming along. Great green color; not too dark or too light with great uniformity. Heck, up close pics show the leaves looking very similar.

Clones are coming along. The first set show the Blueberry Wowie cuts doing well, with yellowing showing on bottom leaves. I take this as the cutting using transportable nutrients like Magnesium in new growth by taking it from the bottom leaves. :allgood:

Thanks CLOJ. Looking forward to when flowering kicks into full gear. ;)

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

 Do you mist your clones after cutting them and placing in the dome?

I like that tent damn thats cheap! Been thinking to use a tent to dry my crop in once i get one going

I didn't mist the ones in the wick cloner the first day. RH got to 50 % and with the chunky perlite not making the best contact, I got a fair amount of droop. Got a better dome and started misting water into it. That has helped in this case. I did some cuttings in medium perlite that did OK without a dome or misting. I would recommend that the RH be kept up at least for the first few days so the cuttings can adjust to missing roots.

High Munki, nice to see another hempy grow

You are showing excellent parenting skills, especially with a tent full of women LOL.

Earlier you mentioned going for a 5.6 pH. Are you going to stick with that, or go on a floating schedule?

I'm glad I'm subscribed for this... grow on :grinjoint:

The pH of 5.6 was an initial mix goal. I won't be rechecking and adjusting it. I just draw from the tank, topping off a 1 gallon jug I use to fill each bucket with the hole plugged with a sharpie pen. I get a flood and drain effect and maximize oxygen exposure to the roots by shaking the gallon jug before flooding the bucket and then draining it as fast as possible through a 5/8 inch hole.

This method has been very economical for me as I throw out potentially no nutrient solution. This would suggest that I would get a build up of salts but if I keep the nutrient concentration down, I should be able to minimize that from happening. Plants are very happy so far insomuch as not showing visible nutrient burn or deficiencies.

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

Flower day 12. Fed and watered all plants though only Ogre and Master Kush really need to be watered daily at this point.

Just confirmed today that Satori 1 is female so all 5 regular seeds turned out to be female. Wow! :cheer:

Here are pics of the clones. Blueberry Wowie cuts are the ones that appear to have chlorosis but are stealing magnesium from those leaves. The other strains don't seem to do this as vigorously. Some of the Ogre cuts in the perlite have perfect color. It's like they were never cut from their roots at all.

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

As usual your plants are the very picture of health.
:bravo::bravo::nicethread:

Thanks Papa!

the girls just look so happy in the tent. perfect size for a led grow also.. how are you liking that led light so far? hows the penetration and foot print? did you run out of foot print with ur old led light and got more to cover the plants?

The LED lights have been great so far. Let's see them finish flower though as that seems to be where most of the complaints regarding LEDs lie.
The 288 watt could have worked fine, but I think it would have needed a light mover to get the proper coverage.

Your plants are looking stellar Munki!

I love to see nodes start to alternate.

Have you done any flushes in addition to your efficient watering regimen, or has salt build-up not been a problem?

I did one flush where I left RO water in for a day. I could see the new leaves showing a very light green color the next day, so if I did flush, it would only be a rinse out, drain, then add nutrient water again. I think what helps is that I use a highly soluble nutrient premixed and I don't run a high concentration. EC was below a 1.2. Giving a "goldilocks" concentration of nutes to the plants should result in not needing to flush (my hypothesis). We shall see at the end of the grow or if I see obvious nutrient issues.

I'm just thrilled to not have seen any nasty mites or thrips!

Re: ! Munki's 576 Watt LED & Hempy Style Flower Power !

Nice job Munki. I must say, your skills are definitely apparent in the cloning and growing. Congrats on all regular seeds being female. It has a lot to do with the care and time you put into it! :bravo: and I can't wait to see those buds.
