Hi CD,

I make alcohol extract all the time. It's safe when done correctly and very easy. It travels well too. Just Decarboxilate an ounce of weed and grind it up. Put it in a mason jar with 2 cups of 190 proof Everclear and a tablespoon of soy lecithin. Shake it for 5 minutes and store the jar in a cool dark place for at least 1 week shaking it daily. I usually go for 10-14 days.

Strain out the alcohol through a muslin cloth or bag. Use a double boiler or digital cook top to burn off as much of the alcohol as you want (some people don't burn off any of the alcohol, they use it as is) 1/2 the original volume is a good target for a potent tincture. Never let the temperature go above 170. And always do it in a well ventilated area.

Butane extraction if totally Fn crazy and I leave that to the pros. But alcohol extraction is awesome, easy, and relatively safe. I just made some yesterday. I use a digital cook top to cook all the alcohol out. Then I mix the RSO with coconut oil and fill capsules. This is my primary method of medicating. Just let me know if you have any questions.

Absolutely, almost all the deficient leaves dried up and fell off. The thing to pay attention to is the new growth. It won't start to grow until after the root system is established in the soil. This can take a while. A painful while lol. No nutes and keep the soil moisture at field capacity and she should bounce back. You should try cloning one of those branches just in case :Namaste:

Nah.....i dont want to clone her as if she doesnt make it then thats ok.....but i am done with PC......that will be a second faillure with that strain and even though i got bud off the first one it wasnt right at all.....i blamed mostly myelf with that one,but this one seems to be more touchy then the other.......i am not into babying a strain all the way from the start and have kept her longer than i would normally.....jsut thought i would give her a shot in organic:)lol.......tomorrow i will put her in the flower room in the tray and flush her with a couple gallons of r/o water only.....when transplanted i fed 1 gallon r/o with 5 mls of cal/mag......ffof is a little hot for younger plants and might not of been a good choice to start her in especially when i have some Happy Frog that is much easier on younger plants....probably would have been a better match......anyway.....thank you Doc for your reply adn i will watch the new growth....hopefully tomorrow no more leaves are affected:).......Happy Daze everyone:)

I'm not sure how I missed your update earlier =/ Anyway, it's all looking fookin amazing (apart from the transplant) If I was you, I'd defol your youngsters to get some light to the branches :)

Totally understand GD,

I do the same thing. I don't have much patience for difficult strains. I trash anything that's too hard to grow. :Namaste:

Hey mate, thanks for the reps...

When I read it, I thought damn....don't plant purple basil...a lot of varieties of tomatoes don't like it...it's written that they do, but in my experience, not.

Green basil will be good for your....tomato plants :)

I'd love to see a rematch of last year. The Broncos are my Pop's favorite team. I hope they can figure out the New England puzzle. They haven't had much luck playing there but this could be the year.

Thank you for the excellent info and details Doc. I really appreciate it. I will try a first run with all of my trim from the last harvest and let it go 10-14 days like you suggested. Any thoughts on whether a small laboratory grade stainless stilling unit would be useful as a cook off method while also maybe being able to recapture the alcohol for reuse? I just happen to have one boxed up that I bought years ago and was going to try making some Grappa from my homemade currant wines and have not gotten around to using it yet. thanks again Doc, I am excited to try this when I get home - trim and alcohol are going in the mason jar! Best to you sir!

You're very welcome Mr Dayze.

Just be sure to Decarboxilate your herbs and use the lecithin. Those two items upped my potency by at least 2x. Also, grinding the herbs really makes a huge difference. This last round I used a magical butter machine to grind the herbs with the alcohol then just dumped that into my jar. I ran it through the clean cycle so there was no heat. Worked awesome and was way cleaner and faster than how I usually do it. Thanks for turning me on to that contraption GD :thanks:

Don't use your distiller with alcohol. That will blow up if they work like I think they do. Don't distillers use heat and pressure to create and extract alcohol? The source ingredients are water and some type of grain or potato or other. If you put alcohol in there I think it will be really bad but maybe someone else has experience they can share here.

I don't have any actual experience with distillers but if they work like I think they do, kaboom. My only experience with them is watching the discovery channel lol. Anyways, better safe than sorry my friend. :high-five:

'Howdy folks and welcome to this week's episode of 'KERBLAMO'....

Just a thought on the still, the way they work is that prior to starting the stilling process, your basically filling it with wine or beer, or sour mash that has finished fermenting all of the carbohydrates and sugars resulting in finished alcohols. The highest alcohol-tolerant yeasts go dormant at 12-19% alcohol. The stilling process removes all of the water and other off alcohols and related volatiles and you keep redestilling until you reach your desired alcohol concentration. This is precisely how the everclear ethanol in your recipe is produced. Stilling can also be done with a double boiler but is most effective for temp control w/ direct heat. The evaporated volatiles are then run through a cooling coil or exchanger and then the condensate (ethanol) drips out while the water and non volatiles are left behind inside the still.

That was my train of thought that then the concentrate would be left behind - but I value my life and am an overly cautious chap when it comes to these things so I really appreciate the info, recipe and thoughts. I'm giddy to get home and do so many things but I'm soaking up the much needed vacation...but still giddy :) Cheers Doc - and thanks again GD for letting me blabber on your page.
