With photos I just defol as & when they need it in veg but wait until day 21 in flower so I don't affect the stretch. I've no idea of the growth characteristics of auto's but I'd say you're probably safe to remove the fans. Feel free to ignore me & wait from advice off an auto dude though :)

No thaat is perfect Mr Skunny.....i am not defoling the auto....she is fine, but the cjh is a photo and she is the one that needs a good defol.......going to do that right now.....will post a pic when done:) thank you for the reply Reg and Mr Skunny.......i am not sure how to fim reg....i would normally lst but i thought i would try out the supercropping as LA had told me to do that with my auto being it was to far along to top......thanks for the info guys:)

OK Mr. Dirty Dreamz. I just did a FIM on one of my Royal Medic clones the give you an illustration...

First open up the top most new set of leafs...

Using a pair of tweezers or your finger nails, nip out the inner heart...

That's it. It's like micro-topping. If you repeatedly do it that stalls that portion of the plant. Once you leave it be two more sites will sprout from that site.

I'll have to correct you there Reg buddy. FIM= Fuck I Missed, which is when not all the new shoot is removed. This gives an erratic amount of heads, from 1-5 in my experience.

You may be correct Dr. Monster but that's how I was taught to FIM right here on 420 nearly a year ago & have been doing it that way every since. Also I'm more than sure the training phenomenon Light Addict does it the same way too.

Ok..i see how you do yours Reg......thank you for that....good illustration:):)
now your method Skunny looks like instead of the heart like on Reg's you cut the whole bunch of new leaves...maybe halfway down or more?...am i on track......and in your experience does it increase yield or just stall growth?

Thank you Mr Skunny.....just read it and yes....very informative........i would love to get 10 to 12 ounces off one plant:).....two plants like that will last me and the wife a year or better:).....something to strive for:cheertwo:

What Reg has shown you is known as Soft Topping, Tipping, Micro Topping. I have to say it's my favourite method as it leaves a tiny scar. Both methods stunt growth on the main stem but only soft topping guarantees two tops. FIMing is a lottery to what you'll get, I use it every now & again just to mix it up :)

Thank you Mr Skunny....i will have to play around a little and see which i would like better......maybe once the pineapple chunk starts its veg.......which i dont know how i am gooing to like the aerogarden 3......it doesnt work quite the same as the 7.......i think it has been like almost a week that the pineapple chunk popped up, but i still dont see any roots coming out of the plug....and it is only half as thick as the root riot plugs.....she looks ok just seems i would at least have seen a tap root......we will keep waitng:)

For what it's worth, I just watched a video yesterday on FIM vs topping. Indeed, FIM is when you give the top a 60-80% haircut and you will get 1-5 more nodes as Skunny said. Topping is where you lop the top off cleanly 100% and you will get 2 new arms.
