Mr Am4zin's Perpetual Journey

Jim, I think you may be right. Rep's baby, Rep's.

Every plant I grow since switching to biobizz, I have same issues. Soil is claimed to be ph 6.6 when I check run off its at ph 6.6 I even bought a new ph tester and calibrated it. My old one was bob on. All my feeds and plain watering go in at ph 6.5 every time. I don't see what I could be doing wrong.

OK, so, I did a proper soil ph test (water till suturated, give it 12 hours then water again, test first run off.)
It is high, 7.3 high.
Did some digging and I read that bone meal can be used to lower the ph in soil?
Has anyone heard of this?
I would assume that you would top dress and water in and the magic will happen over a few days.
What do we think?

I'm not sure I know what to think. I read an article once that said bone meal could be used to lower. I'm thinking that it is also a nutrient so, if that is true, would it be necessary to make some adjustment in your nutes. I'm just too much of a novice to know anything about bone meal. However, I also know that many of these organic mixes bone meal is added as an amendment for P (Phosphorus).

Snipped from Robert Celts' article "Bone meal: typically high in P (14+) may also have N. Release rate of 2-4 months. "

If that release rate is reasonable, I wouldn't think it would help much in the short run. Again, my knowledge is limited.

You know I have a similar problem but I haven't checked soil pH. I just limit the input to around 6.5. I believe my issue is related to lack of cooking the mix. Not that the mix is too hot, just that it can start cooking later in the process and makes the plant look like it's nutrient burn. I should check my soil pH to rule that out.

Anyway, I've not helped you other than to give you something else to think about.

Giving me something to think about is helping Jim, after reading up since I posted I thought about release rates and future amendments that would be needed.
I can't do anything yet as her soil is still wet and has been for a few days already. Need to have a plan in place for when she has dried out a bit.

Ive used bonemeal as an additive to my soil before, as its slow release i mix it in when potting...

I was wondering if you could mix some with water and heat it gently... To help release the good stuff, like a tea, then hopefully it will get to the ladies quickly.... Just brainstorming really, have considered it myself but dont know if it works

Would PH down work in soil?

It's not quite that simple, it's the ph of the soil that is the issue. The plant can't take up the nutes it need cos the ph of the soil is too high. Lowering it is, apparently, not a quick process.
For the PE, i'm going to feed a lower ph solution is hope that it balances it out and gets her to some sort of harvest. She looks pretty sad at the mo.

amazing good choice but its to heavy come flower with slow release interfiers with ur bloom nutes.i read up researched so never used it.i stick to biobizz light mix mate. i dont own a ph meter never have never checked just use my eyes;) and my plants thrive:) thats what my 3 topped autos are sit in at the minute and loving it. and only had there first first feed day 24;)next run and all rest of ur runs stick to the light mix mate save ur self all these problems;)its awsome from start to finish.hope this helps.have a great day mate;) u could grab some light mix and repot she would thank u for that;) and for best results.just a thought;)

Thanks for your input, repotting this girl isn't an option for me. She's in a 3 gal fabric pot and she is tied up good and proper to keep here height down. When she dries I'll give her a good flushing and a low ish ph feed. I still have half a bag of all mix, when that's gone it's Light mix from then on.

Do you use BioBizz feeds too?
What is your feeding schedule?

Cheers :passitleft:
