Mother of Berries, M.O.B. Maine Strain

I re-read your post Yeti and I’m thinking about your condundrum about a tent or a grow room and there’s really a lot of benefits to both whether or not one weighs the other. The one thing that sticks out to me is that if (god forbid) for some reason a fire started. You’d be able to contain it before it started eating your buildings infrastructure and authorities have to get involved. If it occurs in a tent you may have a little more time to conceal it. Also, a tent comes with almost everything for aeration (vents, fan holes, etc.) and if you had to relocate, setting up a tent is much faster than redoing an entire room. Now I know these are both semi “out there” scenarios but the fact remains that if you encountered either for whatever reason or even had to change the size of your grow area (again, for some reason we currently don’t know) a tent would be more manageable.

The problem I have with tents is they wear out. Either the zippers or the supports break. Or you end up with pin holes and light leaks. Light leaks are what I am dealing with right now. I am considering putting up a wall to section off where my tents are to help get rid of the light leaks. The other issue I have is controlling the environment. I feel if I can at least section off where the tents are then I will have greater control of heating and or cooling my flower area. right now they are in an open space and even with an 11,000 BTU AC I cannot get my temps down to where I want them in the summer sometimes. So I really kinda want to either wall off and seal the area the tents are in, or just build two rooms, one for veg and one for bloom. I do not know which direction I am going to go but the walling off a section of the room seems like the cheapest and easiest way to go while still making so solid gains!

Your idea is way better. Never mind mine. I’m just super paranoid with fires and growing. We’ve had entire apartment buildings engulfed because of incompetent growers somehow introduce unchecked tarps and HPS/MH together. For that reason I’m near terrified of those types of lights. It’s probably always going to be LED and in whichever form it chooses to take. (Back to you) Walling off an area sounds like a good idea. You seem inclined when it comes to types of engineering. I use the tent as it’s really the best means I have. That pantry was not great but all I had at the time and didn’t honestly have the guts to be more open about my growing (legal in Maine (med and rec.) and I can focus effort on actually growing and not needless stealth. I would honestly say go with your gut it doesn’t appear to do you wrong based on what I’ve seen.

Thanks bud! i really like my tents but they leak light terribly. I bought cheap ones to start with and just keep using them. Most of the more expensive ones seem to only cost more and not be much better but I could be wrong. The environmental control is what has me really wanting to wall it off. I just need to make a plan to do it and execute it. i would probably have someone do it for me so it is done correctly and that adds a good amount of cost which is what has stopped me from making it happen. The tents seem to be working out for you and thats great!

Plant is coming along. Looking forward to this plant being done so I can have 4 or 5 of these size or better. Probably thinking a good 8-10 weeks of Veg (will plan accordingly for height and space requirements). Ordered another LED Light "1500W" made with 10W chips (360W true draw allegedly) to supplement my existing light (Total "True" Wattage Draw of 185W + 340W = 525W based on manufacturer claims of true wattage and from reading a variety of online reviews and on the site of purchase and youtube videos. The only difference in what i'm doing in this grow is using a higher quality soil (Coast of Maine: Stonington Blend, can be bought online it's made specifically for growing cannabis. It's spendy on shipping from the manufacturer but I'm sure there's a really, really big online shopping place somewhere you could theoretically go to get that same soil but score free shipping. Anyway, I'm also using only tap water (in previously recorded grows, I used distilled water)but it sits for almost a week to allow any chlorine to evaporate with some soil from previous grows and compost.

I’m using the Stonington Blend soil. It’s got everything (To my knowledge) everything a soil could possibly need. My next grow will be from seed “Skunk Kush” Thanks, Yeti!

I’ve had Kush before but haven’t grown. The skunk Kush is simply coincidence in terms of it being Kush. I’ve always been a big fan of skunk and was excited when it debuted so planning a larger grow with it.

OG Kush in Week 5 Flowering under 1000W Chinese LED and 100W equivalent standard LED bulbs on gooseneck lamp. Average Temperature 69.Soil of choice: "Coast of Maine: Stonington Blend". 25 Gallon smart pot (fabric) with earthworm castings, coffee grounds and (many, many) dried egg shells (dried in oven at 180 for 1 hour and very finely broken). I'm using a single industrial grade steel fan with metal blades, 1 6' carbon scrubber and direct air flow from window(s) in a 5x5 tent.

I'm going to start enhancing my descriptions so when I do my next grow of multiple plant(s) I'll be able to make sure it's as worth the attention it's being given as I can.

It looks like things are going well for you. If you can you should see about getting your lights on temps to be about 77 degrees or so. It should help with the uptake of certain nutrients and speed up growth.

Any other wisdom you could share to get some extra bang for my buck would be much appreciated. Thank you!
