Morda Grows Blacken Blueberry Rose With The ZE250 Sponsored By ParfactWorks

:happy-birthday: and congrats on the new sprout! If it were mine I wouldn't move it. Having a seed off-center makes it a perfect candidate for LST. :thumb:

That is a very good point and I was thinking about that myself... I will just use the sides of the bucket now. Just thought it would be more managable with the two buckets to have them center in the pots.

Seed Updates:
Seed 6 has not broke ground
Checked the paper towel sprouts, looks like 2 more are barely starting to crack seeing light mold in spots
Checked the bottle soak seeds 4 are starting tails and 2 are still not cracked an no mold to be seen.

Looking like I may be changing my spouting method. I had good luck with the paper towel in the past. Having said that, it is looking like the soak method with the water peroxide solution is blowing the paper towel method away. In just a little over 24hrs and I already have 4 with tails. When I would use a paper towel (successfully), it always took close to 48hrs to see any results. I had always shied away from the soak method because of the ease of marking seeds on a paper towel, and, knowing what was what. At the same time, there was always the risk of mold. It is this mold that may be or has already killed the seed 6 sprout. I should have seen a head popping out of the dirt today. If I don't see one in the next 24hrs I will call it since it will look like I have suitable replacements.

Last Paper Towel Sprout:
Checked on seed 6 in the dirt and came up with an empty shell. Looks like what was there rotted out. Checked on the seeds in the paper towel, seed 3 had a foot sticking out. I saw it was mold free so I planted it in a solo cup. Because of the sprouts I have in the bottles and mold on others, I trashed seeds 1, 2, 4, & 5 from the Paper Towel Sprout.

Seed 3 PT method

Note seed 6 had a black spot on the tip of the tip of the tap root The tap root is also looking gray almost transparent as well. Notice Seed 3 is a nice white as it should be. I think this is a sign of it dying before it got started from mold. If I see this again I will just discard the seed.

Just checked on the Peroxide and Water soak seeds, All 6 have sprouted tails. :yahoo:

I have tucked in all 6 bottle soak sprouts onto the warm dirt... I added about a table spoon of water to each seed because the dirt had dried out some since I filled the cups. Now it is a waiting game.

Again, I noticed seed 6-2 with a black dot at the end of the tap root. It looked healthy other wise so, I planted it anyway.

This gives me now 8 to choose from. Only 2 will make the cut from here... maybe 3. I don't think I can keep more that going in my small space. Maybe some day I will have a second light and get the full 2x6' space lit but for now, it is only a 2'x3' space that is lit properly.

Not sure on names yet just decided on the first name. Thinking maybe "Blacker Blueberry Rose" for the F2. I got more seeds the other day from the same male oops. They are Bubblegum Boogie (Female) and the same Blueberry Smoothie (Male)

This is what I have at the moment for a plant map. I have all the cups marked, this is more of post-able visual. I also keep a running grow journal on a second PC using a spreed sheet.

Are those the self wicking buckets that feed from the bottom ? I have a buddy who uses something that looks similar to those.

Yes they are, it is also what I use outdoors.

Nice clean bean pics. How do those buckets work? Do you use them with soil?
There are several ways you can make them. The concept is to have a constant reservoir in the bottom of the bucket. This reservoir is made from pipe or bottles, I used cut up 2ltr bottles for my buckets. This holds water for dry days and allows excess water to drain off.

I got the idea from Gardening with Leon and wanted to try it.

Here is a couple pics of one I had recently dumped to amend the soil for this grow.

I can water and feed from the bottom up or directly from the top down. This year I had some issues with over watering because of the rain. I have mixed feelings about them. I just see them as an alternative not a be all end all.

I used these on all my outdoor plants this year. I will say that this plant loved it. The others did very well in them with the exception of getting over watered.

As of this moment none of the recently planted seeds have broke ground.

Grow Room:
73 degrees F
63% Humid.
Light is at 37" from containers and set for 50% power (Parfactworks Recommended Height/Power for sprouts)
1 Fan On, more to be added as needed.

I have no way of getting a LUX reading. I do not have a tester or a sensor on my phone to use an App.

What kind of phone do you have? If Apple, then download the Photone app. If on Android, download the PPFD Meter app.

I have an Android, PPFD Meter is the app I tried. It errors out saying It can not calabrate without a light sensor on the phone. It is the same sensor that dims or brightens your screen when outside. My phone doesn't have that sensor.

Ohh, gotcha. Simply utilize the PPFD chart from the manufactures.

Isn't 73 kind of cool for starting seeds ? I usually start them closer to 80 F in my tent & keep it like that for a week or 2.
Seeds usually sprout in 3 days... 4 max. I start my seeds in the soil though.

Yes 78-80 is best, I'm wondering what I have on hand to up the temp a bit. I have a heating pad but, it has an auto switch that shuts it off after an hour, you need to keep resetting it. It is only going into the second day, I have had seeds go 5 days max before they brake ground.

Edit: Added a incandescent 60watt light to the room, I will see if that will up the temp a bit. I have another thought as well. I was going to add a stationary cam in the room. To do this I need to build a XP pc (have the parts) to run my cam card. This is also the cam I can set to snap shots every as few as 1 a day to as many as I would like. This will give me a time lapse of the growth and the PC would add heat.
