Mono's Perpetual Soil

The autos say it's meant to be 8 weeks from seed, I'm quite sceptical of that. More thinking that it will be 8-9 weeks from showing sex. We shall see :).

Hmm, I wasn't aware of that with cfls. So even thought the light is still working as such, the light intensity will lower throughout it's life? Think I might have to look into new bulbs then, been using these ones for about 18 months now on constant 18/6 lol

i'm trying to figure out what color a cfl burns naturally. whatever color temp that is, im buying, because if they use a coating to produce that orange color, it has to degrade the light intensity, you know?

and they say you should replace em, I haven't replaced mine yet.

Hey buddy, Hope the frosting of snow is mirrored with a frosty blanket of trichs on all your gals!

Your probably right on the length of life with auto's, I always went over to get the right point of amber percentage.

You sure have a way with words sir. Or too much time on your hands ;)

Can never really go on the stated flowering time these days, differs greatly from plant to plant. I swear by the 30x jewellers loupe. That said, even a plant harvested a few weeks early is millions better than the rubbish bought off the street. We shall see how they come along, will be interesting how close they are to the 65 day from seed mark.

The 6400k cfl is daylight spectrum, bulbs are clear so not sure if they have a coating or not. Think the 2700k spectrum may have a coating, they don't look any different though lol.

I see what your saying man, very interesting food for thought.

I wonder if the lights that have no coating will cost a lot more than the ones that do, kind of off setting the point. Hmm...

Check the lumens per color. The higher number would be the "purer" CFL color. And CFLs have a very short half life - you end up producing all heat, no light. It may look fine to you, but the intensity is gone. You've reminded me to start looking for a bargain on a new set.

Any idea what the average life of a cfl would be?

A good cfl should have a life span of 7000+ hours of life. There are some that have way more than that but i think thats the "low" average. I have 2 42w 2700k bulbs and theyre supposex to last 10000 hours. Most packs will say that the life span is rated at like 3 hours a day every day so the life may change because theyre

Mine are 10000 hours. Just after what b.real said not sure if they are giving out the same amount of light as they were when new. I have noticed that the plants are growing slightly slower than they have done on previous rounds.

knowing me I would get really high and try and hook that thing up to a regular light fixture LOL

pretty much. don't do it lol

graytail, as of feit electrics website, all their 23 watt cfls are rated at the same lumens (1600) no matter the color temp. I still don't think this is right. I'm gonna check other websites.

I'm gonna send some emails out and try and find out the color temp a cfl burns at without any coating or modifications.
