Mono Grows a Pound

i have to have my heater on all the time when lights off to keep it at 69 , and got it on the tent ground .ie heat rises. happydays. tryed one heater first.but it was chewing electric. got a cracker from amazon, for shed,s and greenhouses . works a treat at low cost on electric.

My heater runs all night and day. Lights on it stays around mid 70s and lights off it stays closer to 80 somehow. I know when you hit the 50s you start to stunt the plant and slow growth, so be careful.

it's healthy for a plant to be 10 degrees cooler during the night. don't make it too hot in there :thumb:

Filling in real nice Mono :Namaste: Ya'll are getting some very chilly temps! Sure to bring some beautiful colors come xmas :volcano-smiley: Cheers budd!

Hey CA! Glad you found the journal :). We have been getting regular temps of -3C, so cold enough.

Hopefully the heater will help to keep it a little warmer in there.

:)

Hey Stop! Don't have any space on the tent floor for the heater or I would have went for an oil filled one. Hopefully with it being mounted it will help at least somewhat.

I had a good look at those tube heaters and discounted them thinking they would be no use at such a low wattage.

You find they work?

Been hitting 50f for the past few nights now and it's only going to get colder as we move into the new year.

Glad the heater arrived when it did :)

Great, link STOP -- I was wondering about something like that. I'm running my space heaters almost 24/7. Lights help, but lights out it's getting cold around my parts. Thanks

Glad heater arrived, as i can attest too... Those temps will slow em up. I was looking at 500w heaters myself, before i moved her.

Ya girls will be warmer tonight, hope temps dont go to high or low in your stabilising trial.

Stoke up the woodburner, then stoke up a fat one !!!

Keep it toastie mono

I'm running my lights on an insulated, but unheated, top floor. I need to keep a window open a little at lights on, else the room will get too hot and humid for my books comfort. For this reason, I alternate my veg and bloom schedule. I'm running GLR, so at lights off for my veg, the bloom comes on, and vise versa.

My veg is running 7 CFL's atm, and that is more then enough to warm the room to temperatures that suggest to wear a t-shirt, where I would normally wear a sweater in that room, this time of the year.

If you put one and one together, it might be a lot more economical to insulate the tent with floor insulation .. the stuff you would put under floor panels.Just cover the top, back and sides, and put an extra piece in front of the door like a curtain or something, trapping all warmth in there.

Next, build a simple insulated tube, and install 4 43W CFL's in there .. the crappier the CFL, the better, as crappier means more heat :p Space them a little so that the whole tunnel gets kinda warm. Draw your intake air through that tunnel. You should be looking at raised temperatures for only 150W actual draw or so. Make sure that it is a reasonable tight fit with those lamps to maximize their heat transfer and it only works if you do not have a big ass tent.

So far I have been able to keep temperatures above 18C with only 7 CFL's @ 23W, but my house is insulated .. above scenario should work .. and if you have the parts, I'd definitely give it a try by running just the CFL's in the room, and seeing if the temperature raises a little .. if it does, this idea should work and you can put that heater back on Craigs ;)

Seems I hit it perfectly on the first go. Night time temps stayed between 18 and 22C. Can't get better than that :).

Hope all is well with you matey. Finally seeing the snow shift here so back to work in the morning.

That's a super idea, especially since I have a load of 23watt cfls lying around. If I find the time to do some diy I think I will give it a go. Always happy to save some money on the electricity bill :)

So we are 9 days into 12/12. Little sign of change other than a slight stretching. The main difference is the plants are super thirsty. Going through 12 litres of water every other day. Can only be a good thing. By the end of the coming week there should be the beginning of bud formation and we can begin the 9-10 week count down :)
