Mmmmick 288W LED Development SCROG White Widow

revisiting the grow....really nice....have scrog envy.....
and how could i forget the kali? been growing her, third gen. now....very strong, very musty smell....i believe a male kali was cheeses father by big budda....shes kinda a foundation plant.....very strong....you can pick her at white t's tho and shes real energetic....otherwise, good night.....with simple topping, she grows good, and have had no problems with food at all....nor seeds, ect..have one in the bud room right now..about 2-3wks in...shes not moving real well tho as she has that strong musty smell and peeps are scared of mold....which smells strong like that....once they try her tho they love her....just an education process....i think im going to try this batch with just a mild cure, leave her a little green and see if i like her that way also....good luck....and i havent tried d.j. shorts b.berry, but it is on my list also....just wasnt impressed with the one we got, esp. after 3 trys....the kid got a harvest out of one and loved it....and mine that seeded, i gave to the other son and he loved the high and taste....i was so angry that i didnt even try it....i still have one in the nursery that is sitting out of the main light, over 2 months now, im waiting on it to die, and it is still alive, once in a while i throw water on it....shes still in an 11oz cup!!! and ez to clone...so i would have to say shes hardy....im just afraid to go for 4.....L:tokin::tokin::cheer:

Hi Lavendar, thank you, the scrog is doing well this round.
I can get around the musty smell but it might not be my first choice. Just thought I'd give it a try and if it's too noticeable I have a friend that won't mind. His sense smell or taste are muted anyway and he loves free smoke, lol.
I like that the kali can go either way, because I can't smoke anything with couchlock during the day but at night it's quite handy to have around. And plants that aren't terribly nute sensitive have a much better chance of fairing well in my care.

I also have some Doggies Nuts BlueBerry, which I'll probably grow out first if they'll germ at all. Their WW didn't germ and a friend tried half of the DN BB's when I received them and had no luck either, so we'll see how they work out.

Sounds like the Kali can take a little abuse, I might keep her on hand just as a backup strain, lol.

Thanks again for the tips, you've got a load of experience and I appreciate that you're sharing. it shortens the learning curve considerably.:grinjoint:

Those nice buds look like stars shining in a green universe! Nice!:cheer:

EXACTLY what i thought when i saw it... just stared at it for 5 minutes, then tried counting all those bud sights... then gave up (got up to 90) and stared some more.

Great minds think alike.

I have the same problem when I try to count them, so I just enjoy the fact that I haven't punished them yet this round. heheh these girls don't know how lucky they are compared to their sisters in previous crops.:smokin::)

how much better is the yield considering the extra veg time that could be needed to fill it up? Is it worth the extra work when harvest time comes around?

I've read 20% better yield but I don't have the experience to know any better. Other than my first 2 plants I've scrogged everything. I don't think there's any EXTRA veg time involved necessarily, although these plants did sit under low power flouros for a while. Because I wasn't ready for them in time, I didn't veg them normally under decent lighting..
A little caution when cutting the harvest isn't a major addition to the work load, but I generally enjoy screwing around with the plants anyway. As long as the grid holes are big enough to get buds through without roughing them up too much it's not a big deal. The screen can be cut away to keep the plants in one piece if preferred. I use a bird/deer netting that gives about 10 screens for 6 bucks, so it's cheap enough to replace.

thanks for the input bro, I actually read something interesting regarding building screens over on THC Farmer (i guess the site is censored, so I won't post a link), I haven't seen it here, typically the screens I see people running are pre-fabricated which I didn't think would be a good thing come harvest time and you have to cut everything out of the screen.

Anyway, the guy used loop screws on the top of the screen, each one 2.5" apart, and then tied string through each loop, essentially stringing the screen, then when harvest time came, he just cut the strings and the plant could easily be harvested from there.

I really like this idea and think I will implement it if I decide to run a screen. My biggest obstacle right now is just my perpetual setup. I have a T5 for vegging (which vegges kinda slow, but its good for keeping the bloom cab in order), and a 600W HPS for flowering. If I had the screen under the HPS, I'm not really seeing how I can fill the screen effectively since that light is always on 12/12. The only option I can see without buying more equipment is to spread my cycles out a bit more to account for the 600W to run the MH to veg and fill the screen.

Yeah, if the screen needs to remain intact (ie.prefab) it can take some work to get the buds out. I don't have much clearance on the sides, especially since my screen slides out for access. I guess screw loops on the underside of the scrog frame would work. I used string in previous scrogs, found it to be a minor pain with all the knots. Stiff fingers sometimes, heheh. So I let the stapler do the work this time and I'll try to salvage the screen if possible.

If you were to use LST'ing to spread/flatten your plants while they were vegging you wouldn't need a lot of extra veg time once they went under the screen. This set of plants only had a few days but could have been managed under 12/12 right away, training as they stretched. Thats where a lot of the training happens anyway. It'll be a busy 2 or 3 weeks though, lol.

yeah i could just LST them for a few weeks until they're a decent size. Right now I'm typically blooming with 4 plants under the 600W but I think with a screen I'll have to cut that down to 2, mainly because my reflector is kinda small. I have way too many plants in veg right now to run a screen though, might end up doing a SOG cause I had too many clones root.. I know, its a problem we all wish we had all the time lol. This wonder woman strain is really performing well. Initially the clones took a bit of time to root, so I got nervous and took another 5 clones, and so far all but 1 have rooted lol.

definitely something I'm going to keep in mind. I find myself trimming the popcorn buds and just hating it, but I can't get enough of trimming up nice thick colas, so I know I need to eliminate the popcorn variety as much as possible. At first they were fine, but as I continue to grow and become more of a weed snob, I find myself getting stricter haha.

I got some widow coming up so I'll have to try to get similar results to your grow, those buds just look delicious

I have 6 jammed under this screen, dropping back to 4 next round. I was planning to do only 4 this round but wanted to be able to compare to my last crop, not all the same strains tho. I really don't like to toss good clones so I understand completely how things can get a little congested.

heheh, my first couple of grows had more popcorn than anything else but I'm taking all the small stuff out whenever I see any new buds trying to form under the canopy. Let the energy go to something that looks like a bud. I don't have any real need for bag appeal 'cause it's all personal but bigger buds make me feel more productive.

I have to admit that I'm becoming a bit of a weed snob myself. Hey, why not? We put the work into it we should be allowed to expect the best.:)

I'm sure that 600w will crank out some crsytal for ya. good luck:cheer:

lol Thanks Blue, I guess that means that should be a harem around here somewhere. I might be busy for a while.:cheer:

Fantastic Mmmmick! I hope one day to be able to keep my ladies in line, like you have here. I'm just so overgrown, I've given up

Hi endive, sorry for the slow response.

Thank you, I think they're looking pretty good so far.

I'm sure you'll get a handle on your plants. they can get ahead of us pretty fast sometimes. Good luck.:thumb:

Day 30 of 12/12.

Gave the plants all a tsp of bat guano 0-15-1 topdressing. Still feeding at 30% strength Botanicare 1/2 veg and 1/2 flower formula. 2 ml Cal/mag per 4 litres. The Afghani, front left is just kicking in so I'll extend the veg nutes for her benefit. A couple more feedings of veg and flower combined then I'll switch to flower formula only, at 50%.

Overhead shot of the works, then the WW, leading the pack. Then a bud from each strain to show the difference in developement. Some trimming done to clean up canopy leaves that have been hidden from the light and yellowed up.
