MicroGrowerMan's GroLab: Chasing Godzilla Under The ViparSpectra Sun

I love the glitter! Congrats on the harvest. It's nice you have company for the trim.
Yes, plenty of pretties. Thank you, Carment.

Still experimenting with flash.

Yes, company is good. We put on the tunes and take to it.

With my fatigue issues it is good to have a friend like Lawrence who can pitch in and help.

Beautiful harvesting MGM!
Thank you, Stone. We harvested a lot of bud for such a small plant. Very satisfied on our side.

Lawrence and I appreciate you dropping by!

"Two Bottles of Weed on the Wall"
December 25, 2023

"Burp them down and pass one around."

Project Name: Mildred, the Bell Cow
Do-Si-Dos from Pyramid seeds,
Sold through current sponsor
Seedsman.
Feminized Photoperiod.
Germinated:
August 23, 2023
Flipped: October 28, 2023
Harvested: December 21, 2023
Dried: 4 Days with RH between 65% & 60%
Bottled: December 25, 2023

These were pretty big fat buds -- big but shorties, though -- and the lack of height showed up in the harvest numbers. While Lawrence and I predicted 4 ounces from the look of the buds, we actually harvested 2 and a quarter ounces.

But ...

Mildred was always an experiment. An intentionally dwarfed clone mother pressed into service when her robustly growing sister went hermie on us. We were really looking forward to a good harvest of Do-Si-Dos since this is a favorite strain. At least we have a bit to hold us over until the larger harvest, and subjects of this comparative, come in.

We must also remember she was used as a bell cow to test nute mix and irrigation system issues. At least we seem to have a handle on those, and increased knowledge of how to handle any issues with this strain.

I will be reporting a taste test and eulogy for Mildred once she's been in the bottle for two weeks -- minimum for me for tasting cannabis nouveau.

In the mean time, I'll take you to the main event soon!

Project Name: Projects Lawrence & MGM
Clones of Mildred the Bell Cow (Do-Si-Dos)

Feminized Photoperiod.
Into Cloner: October 21
Removed from Cloner & Planted: November, 8
Transplanted: December 1

I previously reported that Projects Lawrence and MGM were flipped. This is not correct, and is the byproduct of the brain fog my cancer medication, Xtandi, causes. That and the extreme fatigue that accompanies this therapy has made things difficult at times.

The date I credited to the flipping was actually the date project Lawrence was transplanted.

I apologize.

A review of how these two are doing is coming soon.

"May Old Acquaintance Be Forgot"
January 1, 2024
"Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?"

Should we as cannabis consumers even sing this at midnight? I mean, after all, isn't that forgetting thing a bit too cliche?

Just wondering in a haze of last year's GG#4.

Anyway this is the day we remember fondly the sacrifices of Mildred the Bell Cow and move on to the adventures of her little sisters, primarily Project Lawrence and Project MGM.

So as we await final word on Mildred, it's time to ring in the New Year, with her little sisters. Shall we?

The Little Sisters of Mildred: Projects Lawrence, MGM, & the Blurple Twins

Project Lawrence on the left is catching up to Project MGM on the right. Both are finally coming into their own as things get more interesting.

Project Name: Lawrence
Feminized Photoperiod.

Day 53

Project Lawrence is growing in a 30% peat/70% perlite mix. The peat is mixed roughly into the perlite to create different micro-environments of acidity. The theory is that during periods of pH fluctuation the acidic peat will help buffer the increasing alkalinity seen during pH slide and roots will grow into the micro acid zones. Compared to what appears to what has happened to project MGM, this seems to have worked.

I had to shoot Project Lawrence in the grow box because she is too big and heavy for me to carry into the photo studio and Lawrence was not around on photo day.

Nutes:
Mid-Veg Mix
1/4-tsp Cal Mag/Gallon
3/4-tsp Miracle Gro Vegetable & Herbs/Gallon (18-18-21)
pH Adjusted to 5.8
900 ppm
Auto Watered 4x a day.

Day 53

The Seven Sisters colas are beginning to fill out and grow up. Currently they are between 9 and 11 inches tall. Learning from Mildred that there is not much stretch to these girls, I'm looking to at least double this height in the coming days. Ideally I'm looking for 24" to fit within my perennial cages and use them for support.

I was on vacation for a while so I could rest. Prior to taking that time off Lawrence and I loaded all our 5-gallon nute buckets to the near brim and pH adjusted to account for pH slide during my absence. I believe this caused some minor signs of pH variation shock in project MGM, which is seen as some minor chlorosis in lower leaves. Interestingly, this shock is not seen in project Lawrence, which uses at 30% peat buffer in perlite to help accommodate fluctuations in pH. Looks like it worked.

With Project MGM growing in 3-gallon (10-liter) nursery pots filled with 100% perlite, it is much easier to move into the studio.

By the way, Santa was nice and brought some photo studio RGB LED panel lights for Christmas.

The Blurple Gang
Another Reason to Upgrade Lights & Improve Ventilation

I have the space. These two were initially intended for feminized seed production, but I had to take a break during collodial silver treatment, so I just let them go. Makes a good comparison between cheap old blurple and modern LED lights.

Plants are grown in 100% perlite.

Amnesia Trance, The Art Project
Bad Seed Gone Good

This plant was originally intended to precede Mildred, but a hermied Do-Si-Dos, and this thing from a bad batch of seed and with a very slow start lost its place in line. The result is that I am making do in the primary veg cabinet. I decided I'd make her pretty instead of maxing her out for production.

It just sits there ...

... empty ...

... without purpose ...

And I just feel driven to fill the void.

Is ...

... is that so wrong?
