MGD420 First Grow: Autos

All caught up... Nice Grow...
The medium is coco mixed with around 20/25% perlite.
Base for the bottom of the hempy bucket is gold label hydrocorn with about 1 inch of perlite on top then the coco and perlite on top of that.

I'll make a post over the next day or two regarding everything I'm using in the grow.
Should have done that at the beginning but I've never done a journal before so looking at other peoples for ideas.
I am new grower too and looking forward to watching... I'm doing experiment grow and I'm already seeing a difference in seedlings. The ones in Coco are bigger.. Maybe a little to early to tell but I may be using Coco in future grows.

MC is Greenleaf Nutrients Mega Crop. I use it too. They have an option on the website for US/CAN or EU. It lasts ages too.
I'm using Gaia Green. It's all about what we get used to using. I feel more confident every time I get into my bags of Gaia.

bit complicated but will work fine. true hempy is so much simpler.

you only need one inert media choice. it doesn't need to be perlite per se, but is easiest in that media. peat, hydroton, coco, and other stuff has all been used. it's about what is cheap and available.

isn't gaia organic based .. ? most true organics are not hempy friendly.

Yes it is... Forgive my ignorance... What is Hempy

i'm mostly interested to see how you're gonna stuff those things in to a 2 x 4.

if they grow to the bucket capacity you could have a tree party with the neighbours.. :bongrip:
Yea the tent isn't that tall either just shy of 6 ft
When I enitially planned to do the grow I was going to convert the cupboard into a stealth grow but ended up buying the 2x4 to fit inside.
There wasn't huge difference with width and depth but height wise the cupboard is around 8ft so would have been much better for bigger taller plants

I've read that with coco the plants seem to do better for growth and yields over soil, I did look at using soil to begin with but decided to go down the coco root, originally I was just going to use 5 gallon fabric pots but due to the amount of time I'm away from home it was suggested to try hempy buckets so I spent most of my time reading up on coco and hempy's. I just didn't look into the whole bucket size was best before buying and so now I've got plants growing in buckets that I could grow trees in but I guess its all part of learning.

Looked at that but like Geo Flora we can't get it in the UK.

geo flora is also not hempy friendly.

works great in promix. i have bales of the stuff and will eventually do a few grows with it. did years of hydro and switched to a soil type for more than a decade. mostly bigger stuff with other folk.

i over bought promix when i built an outdoor container hydro garden for my mom.

first line in my sig if you wanna check a hempy grow guys. it's messy ... skip to the end .. :p

there's others too. not sure who's active right now.

lol... I've had to rebuy everything... lights, nutes, exhaust fan and the list goes on. Learning has come with a bit of a price tag. Still cheaper than my golf habit.

I think in total I've probably spent around £2000 buying everything. For me its my car but theres no comparison, ive spent silly money on my car, I wished it was as cheap as the setup costs for my grow.

I was looking at using gaia green with fabric pots but then realised that you can't really get it here and its mostly canada. There was some of the nutrients available but they were extortionate as they were shipping from Canada then there's the import tax and duty on top of the delivery and cost of the product.

If you ever go that route with soil and dry amendments there's a company called LivingSoils in the UK. Seems like the closest thing to the Gaia green or Geo Flora that we can get here.

I run into same problems trying to get things from the U.S. . I originally wanted to use Geo Flora and It was so expensive from the U.S. . Looking around for something similar I found Gaia Green. Later to find out it's what MR. Canucks grows with. I'm using his recipe for the Cana Coco grow.. He grows some monsters.

Yea I I didn't know that the hempy was more or less perlite/vermiculite when I looked into them and couldn't get a straight answer elsewhere before buying the coco. The grows I did look into with hempys people were using coco so thats the main reason I went with coco but the next hempy grow I'll be buying smaller buckets and using just perlite

Haha.. I paid over two grand for an electric Golf push cart. I can't take it with me. :laughtwo: My grow at least gives back.

I spent some serious money on my car and it's money I'll never get back when I sell the thing but I have the mod bug and love fast cars, 1.6Litre engine thats sitting just shy of 350 bhp. I would be trying to tune the golf buggy too if I owned one :laughtwo:

Yea ive looked at them, they offer similar products to gaia. Still quite expensive from what I seen on their website. I might have went down that route but again being a new grower i disnt have any idea what nutrients to get or if the bags of soil were ready to go with just water. Again I might look into it more at some point as I would like to try different growing techniques and find one that suits me the best for my needs.

Half the research I had done for the first 2 months was through watching mr canucks and other Canadian growers then realised i couldn't get the nutrients they were using in the UK so had to start again lol
