MGD420 First Grow: Autos

it's meant for a system that does not incorporate a res. hempy has a res. i ran AN for years. i still have some of that exact product lying around.

it works best in a promix type media. it can work in coco if you are doing a coco grow.

you are not.

you are doing a hempy grow using coco as the media. it's a different animal. you can huck it in there anyway. might not hurt. shovel a few $20s in there while at it. it amounts to the same thing.

strongly recommend doing a first grow on base nutes. it's good experience. it's hard to use supplements until you understand how the basic nutes work. it not careful with some supplements you can blow the plant up.

I get the shoveling £20 notes in while I'm at it comment as the stuff really isn't cheap.

This is what I read on voodoo juice

Voodoo Juice has been specially designed for use with all hydroponics, sphagnum, coco coir and other growing media.

Voodoo Juice has been developed for use with any and all hydroponics and continuous liquid feed growing systems (aeroponic, drop irrigation and emitters, NFT, flood & drain, deep water culture).

Directions:
Use 2ml per litre during weeks 1 through 2 of your flowering phase, and during weeks 1 through 2 of vegetative growth.

Again I'm not disputing what you've said as I'm a new grower and don't have the experience and knowledge you'll have with hempys or any other type of grow for that matter so I hope you don't take anything the wrong way, I'm just confused as there's that much conflicting information out there. For a new grower it gets confusing.

voodoo juice is a microbial supplement. it uses microbes to break down material and turn it in to usable nutrients for the plants. it needs to be present over a period of time for the microbes to begin to digest, then expel the material in a form the plant can use.

in a hydroponic situation you have a reservoir. that reservoir gets cleared out and refreshed every few days. along with anything else that might be in there, microbes and all. they don't stay in there long enough to do jack.

just pour it in comfortable in the knowledge that you overpaid for a product that does nothing for your grow.. best thing that can be said about it is the stuff won't kill the plants. it's designed to pick your pocket, not turn you away from the line.

it does very little even in a media that it can work with.

That's fine, you've explained the reason,
#1 reason the plants won't benefit using the supplements in a hempy so its a waste of money, I get it.
Like I said in my previous reply I wasn't disputing what you were saying I was just trying to show you that for a new grower things get confusing when you read, hear different things, I've been told to water coco sparingly otherwise it'll drown the plants, then told no give them plenty of water it's hard to overwater in coco etc. Same with what I read regarding the voodoo juice being fine for hydroponic, dwc, coco etc and you said it wasn't so yes advice given by one person might conflict with another person's advice, it doesn't mean either person is wrong but its definitely confusing. Like I have said I'm new to growing so don't have the knowledge you or other members have on here thats why I'm here to get advice.

Only 20 days in so still time for plenty updates
Can't wait to watch them grow up and blow up! It's so satisfying. I'm on day six of a mystery auto seed I'm running on a 24 hour lights on schedule just as an experiment. Your girls are looking good!

Hopefully they grow well, they took a bit of a stretch but haven't really noticed much the last couple of days, hopefully they pick up again especially after the transfer to the hempys.
Nice, I'll have a look and follow your grow.
Hope all goes well.

No topping with them being auto's but might try some LST if the plants are healthy enough, plant 3 hasn't had it as good the past few days.
I topped every auto i had after my first grow with great yield results. I can see being cautious on your first grow though. They definitely look like you can start LST anytime.

I know there are folk that do top their auto's but yea being my first grow i would rather learn the basics first. If I had known at the time photos were more forgiving that auto's I would have probably grown the photos first.
When I grow photos on my next grow I'll top.
I will probably leave the LST for a few days/week to see how the plants are doing as they were only transplanted a couple of days ago

Sounds like you're on top of it

Just a little update.
Plant 3 seems to have perked up a lot over the the last couple of day's.
Wondering if there is any reason as to why plant 3 looks a lot lighter than the other two girls ? Is that normal.

some feed a little heavier than others is all. there is always a problem child. will probably be ok if everything else looks good. you might wanna bump feed incrementally if the others can handle it ok.

otherwise looking good. stay the course and don't panic.

Thanks for the replies as always bluter.

So up the nutes ?

The AN nutes for grow, bloom and micro I have been feeding at 5ml of each per litre, the recommended amount for week 2 if I've got it right is 10ml. Should I up them to 10ml or slowly add a ml or so every other feeding until its at 10ml ?

Thanks. No panic here, I've got people like yourself keeping me right and in check.

AN is a bitchy nute line. that particular one is actually a 3-part they reformulated down to a 2-part. i used mostly their 3-parts as i found holes in the 2-part system . at certain times it was near impossible to make certain plants happy. i got tired of chasing the issues that come with that line.

i'm not sure where you are feeding right now, but i fed 1/2 the bottle sched for the most part. not sure if you have one, but an ec meter can be super useful with this type of nute system. i used one the entire time i was on AN.

you post the ml but not how many ml / L or ml/gal. hard to answer without that info. if you are ml/gal, up the feed by 1ml and watch like a hawk. autos feed lighter and are very touchy about feed. you seem to be right on top of it right now.

you're just shooting to make the one a touch happier without upsetting the rest.

you kind of put yourself a bit behind the 8 with such a large pot. keeping enough in the coco above the res is going to be hard. once it hits the res, those plants will explode exponentially in growth.

so long as the coco stays moist but not drenched you should be fine. stick to a two or three day feed sched for now. intervals will get shorter as the plant matures.
