Metalpoet - 1st Grow - Northern Lights Auto - Soil FFOF - CFL - Indoor

Thanks for all your thoughts! I prefer high sativa mixes but I have found that short, fast, auto, mostly sativa seeds don't exist.... Well, I have my eyes on a few: pineapple express (that 57 day wonder someone just posted in PTOM), Cinderella99, Jilly Bean, maybe golden goat. Size matters, but I am considering some of these in photoperiod--- would top often, fully flux, and flip early. Thinking and dreaming.....:hippy:
Day 53 Thick & Green
I told you she would laugh at my attempts to defoliate. Salad, anyone? --- omg--- anyone ever try the leaves on salad? Sounds better than kale!
Seriously, she definitely stalled a while the last time I defol'd. Snid or Dirt, should I defol on the 25th and 50th-ish days (since beginning flower)like on a photo? She is So thick now I literally run my fingers through her foliage to get air flow in there--- and to chase off any gnats that may remain. They are gone .. for now. I have treated with a foliar spray of sns203 at night. I've been avoiding getting any on the buds at the recommendation of SNS.--- causes some burning of the pistols. Sprayings have kept the moisture content of the soil high though. Days til the next watering with nutes I think.
Here's pics. So far, so good.

Looking good:thumb: with the defol on autos I just do as needed, mostly just lower stuff. I got a C99 in veg but I'll let you know how she smokes after I flower her out. Keep up the good work

I love a low height plant and this is about as low as you can go! Nice work MP.

Thanks, Shig! To be honest, I have always felt she was a little runty--- short and stocky by nature--- and that is OKAY! She is tight, compact, and manageable in a small space. InfiniteJuan has 2 NLautos going that are just 12 days ahead of Tillie and his girls are HUGE! It's fun to compare them and but also nice to prove that you can control the size without giving up too much in yield and time (I hope!). Autos may change the world. No tents, no timers, no special lights needed, and now... maybe not much space needed either!
With my issues with the pics, I'm still not sure I uploaded the correct profile so I'll throw up more. She has definitely gotten taller. I continue to gently thin her foliage... which she seems to take as encouragement to groe more leaves. She has some baby buds working. She really does not smell during the day, small whiffs of green weed at night. Day 58.

New here, looks good. I'll pull up a seat and stay for the flower show.

Cheers

There was an accident yesterday. Tillie had 4 main branches which were to be the 4 main colas. Of the 4, one was particularly happy and lush.... have you noticed the past tense? Yep. The best cola got broken completely off yesterday.
I was upset but, u know, lots of bigger things in life to get upset about. Did several :bong::roorrip::bong::roorrip::bong: of some recently acquired Blue Dream and found grace.
Must be the 1st grow jinx.... sigh... yes, I am drying that tiny thing out to smoke.... drat... no pics today... maybe tomorrow.

Sorry to hear MP. It's always disheartening when something like that happens, but it happens. I've had my fair share of split stems and broken branches. Just stay positive.

Hey dirt, is there a chance that breaking a main branch like that will provide more energy to the rest of the plant and in effect allow for the rest of the buds to get larger than they would have if the branch hadn't been damaged in the first place? How's that for positive thinking? lol

Sure is, kinda like an accidental topping. The auxins(I think that's right lol) will be redirected to the the new mains somewhat equally if they are all relatively the same height. Now that is some great positive thinking:thumb:

Thanks! I just got done taking a calm look at the damage and the good news is that it was the same branch with the most and best developed secondary branches (which are undamaged)... and yes... kind of like an unintentional topping, I think all the "grow power" (how's that for techno talk?!?) for that branch will get sent to those already healthy secondarys... for that matter, the one remaining bud on that branch is very healthy and now may make it past popcorn to true bud stage.
She's looking okay. I have been working at removing interior foliage because, really, it was SO dense that I had concerns about moist dark interiors ... I feel better now about the viability of any interior growth. I have made some minor adjustments in attempts to maintain an even canopy.
FYI : wanted to say that none of my manipulations or actions caused the damage. The bf did something--- looney tunes cartoon chain reaction later-- broken branch... didn't get noticed til later. All ok. just oops. and another negative to keeping plants "uncontained". Pics later.

Sometimes work wants my attention. Sorry for the pause in coverage.
Day 62 Stumblin', Bumblin', Fumblin'.
Okay. Here is what's left of the broken branch. Not so bad.

Here is the heir to the "best-cola crown".

Shot of her height.... still runty... s'ok. The branch that got broken was also tall and full so its loss actually kind of diminishes her stature.

I still see gnat damage (grr). Tillie got watered yesterday with nutes but I am starting to see ph slip lower so the next time just straight water. I find that weighing the plant is very helpful. Fully fed she was 14.4 lbs, today she is 12.4 lbs... she is taking up water just fine... and picking up the pace on that.

IMPORTANT: Today when I came home from work, the smell of Tillie hit me at the door. We'll start containment by shutting the bedroom door for now.

If smell is an issue and a carbon scrubber isn't possible, ona gel works ok. It won't eliminate all the odor but it helps out. She's looking great:thumb: damn work and their constant need for attention lol. I hear ya though, my girls haven't got the full attention they need due to me being at work more then I'm home lately. Keep up the great work MP

Ona gel and similar products work well for minor Odor containment. But enough of that, look at that auto... :high-five: Metalpoet. She's going to beef up the rest of her now that she's lost her biggest branch. I'm a little worried about stress induced hermieism due to the drastic change. I'll be rooting for her recovery, it happens to all of us. Keep up the good work and as always...

KiG :green_heart:cheers

Hi, Dirt!
The issue of "odor" is something I'm tracking. I did research on low-odor growers and NL was top of the list. More of a curiosity thing: If it's just one plant, how bad is the smell? Tilly is still unpredictable in that, I can close her in a warm room and the we get NO smell... and yet occasionally she sends whiffs all over. I swear the front door is an "odor sink" ... all the odors in the house choose to unreasonably collect there.... we're working on it because the next plant in the lineup is a White Widow auto and I understand they may be a little more (lot more?) stinky. Thanks for hanging around and keeping me straight!
