Melville's Doug's Varin Winter Grow

Not sure what size, but I've been slipping a construction paper sleeve around the cup. It blocks the light but allows water to drain from the bottom. Maybe I need larger drainage holes?

I saw you mention them in your journal, and I think there was a video too. Hmm.
I usually use two dowels or straight sticks to spread the branches, using soft rubber coated plant wire to strap them in. Smart to change things up every once in a while though.
What the fuck is a dowel? A dopey vowel?

Like why do you know so many more words than I do?

MENTAL NOTE: never play scrabble with Mel.

I really love his technique. I love a plant with shape.

Evening Update
I don't really understand why the plant in the back is so droopy. I'm going to hold off on watering her for a bit. See if I've managed to overwater her somehow.

Maybe I need to come up with a different cover for the cup.
They look a beautiful shade of green. And not even a skeric sceric tiny bit of dirt to be seen :)

Oh, that's good. Maybe more or larger drainage holes would help. Wilting plants are often a water issue; too much, not enough, or root issues like root rot that inhibit the uptake of water.

Maybe try letting it dry out so the cup seems surprisingly light when you pick it up. Emilya suggests watering with very small amounts every 3-4 days, just enough to wet the top layer but not enough to get to the bottom while you wait, to keep the upper roots happy. See how many days it takes to dry it out. That should give you a clue as to whether or not it is a root issue.

25 days in.
I can't tell if the newest leaves have 9 fingers, or 11. Definitely at least 9 though.
She'll be needing water tomorrow judging by the weight of the pot, that should be enough time for me to figure out if that tip is the first sign of nute burn, or just a signal that she's hungry. I'll give it a more careful examination this evening at lights on.

Merry Christmas, MH.

Droopy seems to be coming around? May need to rename her if this continues. :thumb:
Merry Christmas to you and yours, Azi.
Might have to start giving my plants names instead of nicknames, lol.

Merry Christmas everyone, hope you're all having a great day!

She's hungry. As soon as I've had my breakfast she gets hers.

Merry Christmas my friend.

Stay safe

Merry Christmas, Melville!

And here we are. The girls in flower are dropping their lowest leaves. I really did need to give them full strength nutes. That has been rectified. We'll see how they respond over the next few days.
DV has been watered, and I think she needed it more than I thought. I'll be keeping a closer eye on her.

Day 27, just under a month old now. I'm thinking it's almost time to top her. I was thinking of letting her go a bit longer than usual and trying to clone the top, but that would bring a whole new set of issues. I'll probably still try, but unless the clone somehow stops growing for 4 months and manages to stay healthy that entire time it'll have to go to someone else.
She was fed last night at lights on, with a higher dose of MC as she was starting to look like she needed it, and I'm raising the light again at lights on this evening.

I always clone my tops too.
I almost always try. I'm kinda hit or miss with clones.
I'm growing an aloe vera (as of a month ago) so I'm going to try using it's gel as a cloning compound.
The only two methods that have worked for me have been dipping the stem into cloning powder and then straight into a jiffy pod on a windowsill, and once I just stuck the cutting into a glass of water and stuck it under a window. I changed the water every couple of days, and 3 weeks later she started shooting out roots.

I have about a 50% success rate with the pods, 1% glass of water, and 0 with anything else, lol.

I kinda prefer seeds. Something about those tiny little plants popping up out of the soil.
