Mel tell us a bit about your soil. Did you mix it or is it a commercial mix?
It's half promix organic vegetable & herb mix, half compost with some perlite added.
I had a bit of a problem this summer with the water just running through the promix.
The compost is from the bin out back where I put all the leaves from the yard and deadheaded plants, and soil from previous outdoor grows as well as vegetable scraps from the kitchen. It's pretty rich, and has a good amount of perlite in it. There are also a bunch of earthworms in there, so it's also full of frass and castings.
I put it into a tote with a bunch of diatomaceous earth to clear out anything with an exoskeleton before I bring it inside. That's worked to keep my indoor space clear of pests so far.

Super soil makes for a great grow ,, mine are all outdoor grows and the plants love it,, The fallowing pics are approximately 10 days apart.starting May 30/22 up until the start of flower.... last two are mid bud and near the end ..I’m going to add a few other enhancements next year as I also found the porosity a little to course

Add a cover crop of clover It will help retain moisture & fix nitrogen in the soil

Congrats on the new seeds, Mel. The DSD 33 is the one I'm interested in since it's crossed with Girl Scout Cookies, one of my favourites. Have you tried GSC, Mel? It's an indica-dominant hybrid and I love it.

ya Bluter I will do a little more reading on the subject.. if it makes my plants happier then me too

it can help with your top layer moisture retention a bit too by keeping the surface temp of the soil a little cooler.

I love the idea of supersoils, LOS and TLO, but I don't really have the space to store the ingredients/amendments.
I do plan on getting there eventually though. For now I just keep one plant in the ground and amend the garden soil every year or two.

Thanks HG!
I have tried GSC, and I really like it. I've never grown it though. My sister likes it too.
I'm really looking forward to DSD 33, and growing it alongside a DSD should let me compare the flavours and effects. The DSD 33 also has GSC from both sides as the Gelato side has Thin Mints GSC in there.
Have you tried DSD? I haven't yet, but Otter's description of it really piqued my interest!
Hi Mel:ciao:
Fantastic start of your journal

I will admit- I couldn't resist when I saw the name of the journal .

Looking forward to this, I'll go pull up seat if you dont mind:passitleft:
Thanks Rexer!
It's nothing but the truth, lol!
Glad to have you here!

I find that the cover crops invite more pests ..
clover pretty much only attracts pollinators

I've thought about using clover and other cover crops, but it's been a difficult sell in the garden.
Maybe in a raised bed in the future...

Im sure it helped get my autos to grow as big as they did
compared to what some people add to their Super soils
a couple 5 pails of compost, a couple handfuls of bonemeal. a handful of bloodmeal, in sandy soil on top of clay gumbo
Gave it 2 watering with bud bloom in late bloom plus in front a 12'x16' old clover patch
lots of water some days when it rained, the water would come off the shed roof & soak it good
the plant didn't even get into full sun till after 1
Sorry only got mid-season pictures mid Aug

I the garden is good. Do you drink them with compost tea ?? Top dress with vermi, and kelp
In the garden I just water. The plants in pots get fed. This past year I used two different ferts, and both did well.
I'll be using the one that's a sponsor for this grow, if I run out I'll be switching over, but I don't think that'll be a problem. This won't go anywhere near as long as the outdoor grow, and they'll be much smaller plants under artificial light instead of sunlight.

Stolen before harvest?

Yes, the plant dropped seed & it grew by itself, even bigger the next year, but I had over 22 oz from the plant the previous year + indoor stuff so it wasn't a big loss
I didn't even amend the soil
also, it wasn't at my place They did leave me with 6 oz of under ripe bud whoop whoop
