Mdlroad Outdoor Desert Grow

Hi fellow desert grower!! :ciao: Have a couple questions for you if you don’t mind? How hot does it get where you are? When do you plant outdoors? Auto or photo? Do do you know what the shade percentage is for your screens? I live in Southern AZ, in the Sonoran desert and am trying growing outdoors as well. It’s an average of 110-115 here in the summer, and up to 120. I use a lot of shade cloth for my fruit trees and veggie garden and was wondering what percentage to use on my cannabis. Will have autos hopefully finishing before the heat like MD, but may try a few photos soon as well so want to protect them during the hottest times.
I'm unfamiliar with shade cloth you get it at Lowe's etc

Hello MD! I'm a desert grower as well. I hang out if you don't mind.I live in the high desert. Although we get heat and sun, it's the wind and budworms that are a bother.I've found over the last three seasons, green screen covered greenhouses works for me. Here's a pic of Bubba Kush in the ground and some Purple Punch seedlings. I'm about 2 weeks ahead of last years grow. Good to see more desert growers.
Smile and stay stoneder

I'll be following your grow. You have experience with the desert. Hopefully Ill

I second the recommendation of putting up the green shade screen over your grow. I have it over my raised bed garden and it not only protects from the direct sun light, it keeps the area under the screen cooler.
I guess I'm headed for Lowe's or other garden shops till I find it TY every little bit helps. Temps headed for high 80s soon

Looks like you’re doing a good join with the watering so far, they look nice and healthy!
March 24th 2nd watering with 1/2 geoflora nutes. I hope this stuff is as advertised. I definitely will need to water more often. I'm thinking the rapid evaporation is helping the plants with the low rh just gotta be careful not to overwater

March 30th 3 weeks outdoors. I watered again yesterday with another dose of Geoflora veg. I'm happy so far. You can really tell which one is sativa dominant vs indica. I may accidentally discover which is more suited for desert grow time will tell.

Cute girls out enjoying the sun. Where is the envy imoji again?

Right?!? Here we go!!
I left for work this morning in a rush and forgot to put the shade cloth back over my newest photo seedlings that just popped up. Fingers crossed they’re not fried by the time I get home. Survival of the fittest I guess. My month old seedlings are doing well so far.
I’m already grumpy about the heat and it’s not even hot yet, lol.

When the lows are in The 90s then we can bitch

Hello MD, and you other desert rats! :passitleft:
Yes indeed, the season is here! Only in the mid 80s here. I'm at around 3000 feet here so the microclime is a bit softer in terms of sheer, oppressive heat. I dunno about you guys but my main concern is pests, thrips in particular. The screen greenhouse keeps the budworms away. Well, you all know how it is, gotta do all the gardening in the early hours.
One thing we have....the most beautiful mornings! Ya know, when everything hasn't been cooked to a frazzle yet?
Smile and stay stoneder.

Very nice!! It looks good and frosty! Congratulations!!! :bravo::thumb::slide:
Can’t wait to follow long with the dry and cure as well.
