Mcloadie's Fourth Grow Journal

Re: Mcloadies fourth grow journal

Good weed everyone, I finally watered.........with the tea that is detailed previously. It's raining hard and the rH in the box only rose to 44%.....better than thirty, I'm just waiting a minute to get another humidifier. OK, a little project that I wasn't sure would be worth documenting.....but I'll discuss it now. I have a certain idea that seeds that come from indoor harvested plants will be immature if the plant is harvested at its point of peak potency, in my experience, these are the light green sickly looking seeds that I mostly don't bother with. Well, a good friend of mine gave me about twenty of these seeds...........they came from a plant that hermied right at the end of its life cycle. The marking on the bag said; "purps". The instructions were; IDK if these are any good. So, two days ago I rigged up a petri dish and set out to test six of them....I germ all my seeds in petri dishes that are marked on both top and bottom and I never screw up. It may seem trivial, but when spring comes I will have multiples that will be going everywhere, and if someone has any doubts getting expensive seeds growing they come to me. So, I think that five of six of these questionable seeds has sprouted in less than 48 hours! I plan on mothering these plants....and I'll grow em when I get the space...LOL, around 6 months! I'm sure that these are the "mendo purps".

Seeds rule :thumb:

I won't be cloning again for a while :)

What I do is grow a minimal amount of seeds to get a girl.....no need with hermie seeds..they are all girls.......then I clone the best of em. The thing I like about clones is I get plants that are consistently the same size. That's why I don't grow seven strains at a time....pain in my ass, and I learn more by growing one or two strains at a time.

This is how I germinate seeds......in the dark right?

A little paper towel insulation because the base is cooler than the air just slightly, and the ambient temp is at the bottom of the range I germ seeds in. The closed petri dish with paper towel for moisture retention.

TADA! The seeds that are germed will be planted asap! There are actually four out of six that are germinated....so far!

I use these merely as indicators as to what kind of....and numbers of pests in my garden. They do very little to control pests....they just tell me when I need to exercise some control measures..........I have a daddy long legs in every ceiling corner of the room.....they are my sentinels!

The plants are growing....never fast enough for me!

Re: Mcloadies fourth grow journal

Hey canna, I would love to post my screensaver thingy, but It's from pictures I took last summer and I was asked not to publish any of them on the web. The photo shows about a quarter acre of plants....different strains....every one is purpling.
Hey Mac,
that sounds purty as heck!
You have given me an answer on a seed question without realizing it too. I have some very green seeds started on this pollinated branch and was hoping I wouldn't HAVE to wait until those are dark before harvesting the seeds that are done. There only a few there, but I really didn't want to waste the lighting and such waiting for those few. LOL
Do you think if the greener seeds are cut from the plant that they will just continue to dry and mature? Or will they just stay green? Do you know how old the green seeds were that you were gifted?
Might seem a silly question, but I have a "weed" that grows outside that I continue to chop down every year and even after chopping those seed pods continue the process.

The green seeds will dry....but I don't think they will mature any more and darken....maybe darken slightly. The seed bag said 5-13, so like may they were taken. If your seeds aren't ready to your liking when you harvest, you can cut the rest of the plant down and leave just the bud that has your seeds. If I had annual weed coming up for generations what I would do is incorporate that strain info into other strains that I want to work with for the acclimation factor. The acclimation of those plants would be best expressed if you grew the seeds you breed in the same environment that the annuals come up in. I get seeds from growers sometimes, and they are always very valuable to me. Growers are proud of their work and will hardly pass on an inferior seed or strain....but most likely their pride and joy!

Thanks Mac,
Just to clarify, it isn't cannabis weed outside that I chop...just an everyday relentless weed. LOL
I had planned to leave the pollinated branch to mature after chopping the female buds off the plant, maybe about a week longer. I think I will stick with that plan. There are some seeds that appear quite ready, but I'll leave them be a while.
You know how it is.....I want them NOW!!! :smoke2: But I shall get the patience back out of hiding...and wait. LOL

LOL, the seeds won't get too mature! I have heard references to perfectly ripened seeds...when they rattle in the husks.....when you shake the host flower..........I know where weed grows wild outside here where I live.......comes back up every year.

Re: Mcloadies fourth grow journal

OK, I got three seeds in the soil, I decided not to use the used soil for the simple fact that it has been outside for a week. I would have preferred it, but why take the chance? I planted em root down of course....about a quarter inch from the top of the new black gold soil. Then watered em in with three turkey basters full each....LOL....with the same water/nutrient I just applied to my plants in veg.

I'll tell ya mango, I prefer 40-50% for flower and 60-70% for vegging. Now, a question; Have you ever had mold in the environment you're growing in? Mold is generally not a problem in areas that aren't particularly affected with it. Like I never had any....even outdoors during monsoon season.
