McBudz - White Widow and Northern Light / Big Bud grow

Hi McBudz,im actually useing two 600w lumatek digital ballasts for my sodiums at the moment, they dont get very hot at all and no noise,u also have the added bonus of the super lumen switch...
which allows you to send additional power to your sodium lamps and effectively overrun them to create additional light output (this feature cannot be used with metal halide lamps). The super lumen switch can be used to either bump up light output as your lamps get older or more likely used from the very beginning to increase lamp output throughout your grow
best regards..creamm :grinjoint:

yeah I'm partial to lumatek since I'm using 2 400's now and have no complaints. What is the super lumen switch thing all about haven't heard that before? Think I'll keep the 400's for vegging with my eye hortilux blue's and switch up to 600's for flowering with eye hortilux HPS's I got with the 600's. I'll just swap the cables between ballasts and swap the bulbs and not have to worry about rerunning cables or hanging any new reflectors.

Also...

I was thinking of getting 2 cool tube reflectors for the 400's and put them on the ground aimed diagonally upward toward the under side of the canopy. Not sure if this is worth running 2000 watts of light or not. Also not sure if the plants will effectively use the light if it is mainly hitting the underside of the leaves and not the top part. I feel like the leaves would grow towards the light source though even if its is below the plant. Plants may end up looking a little weird / bushy.

Also have to take all the heat into consideration. Not so much of a big deal with it being winter now but summer will def. be a problem.

Anyways just a thought for now....

OK I just looked it up. Lumatek says its available in "some" territories. Not sure if mine has it or not but it is a Lumatek SS Does that stand for "Super-lumen Switch" ? Can't find anything to tell me if it is or not. We'll see when it comes in I guess. Pretty cool feature.

I wonder how that can be ok for the bulb?

Ms.Fox: They aren't out of the woods yet.. I did tug on some of them and felt resistance so something's going on down below. They are starting to yellow a bit but I thinks it normal from what I read. They yellow right before starting to root.

creamm: You ever make it to my side of the world we'll sit down and have a picnic amongst my trees

flyfishinrock: Yeah I guess its not exaclty a micro grow, however I would love to have a bigger one. I love tending to them, find my self bored sometimes when theres nothing to do but watch them grow. Thanks for the reps!

bubbakush: I'll let you know how this is in a few months when its shopped and cured. Thanks for stopping by..

Harry Red: I sure hope you are right. Seems most of the bud sites on this plant are only on the 4 main colas. Not much going on elsewhere compared to the widows.

The big stinky bud plant has a beautiful leaf formation, i love it. All your ladies seem happy and look like they are gunna fill in nicely! Great job so far man!

Thank you 4twenty4all and Dr. 215. I love the way big stinky has developed. She was my favorite from the very beginning. I cut some clones 1 week ago and they feel like they are starting to root. I really hope they pull through I would love to fill my darkroom up with some more big stinky's. She has actually out stunk my odor sok. I had to wrap it in some universal carbon filter fabric.

Here some more pics and bud porn....

Got my 2 new lumatek 600's and Hortilux super HPS's today so hooked all that up. Holy crap what a difference in brightness!! I hope the ladies appreciate it.

She's a very top heavy plant. Doesn't do much below the canopy...

the other WW...

Doesn't seem to be filling at up top as well as big stinky but she is also much bushier down below. Not sure if I should have clipped a bunch of those lower branches away early on. We'll see what happens. She's very healthy though. Hasn't even started to yellow one bit yet.
