MaxYields' First Grow - Warlock - Alien Dawg - Berry Garcia - CFL Closet Grow

I am excited for you MaxYields... good times ahead :)

Thanks! I am certainly trying to be optimistic about it! At this point I am pretty overjoyed (and usually spending large amounts of money does the opposite to me... haha) and I expect to continue to be overjoyed once it arrives and is in use!

Congrats on the gear man! You will be very happy with that lamp.

Congrats on the gear man! You will be very happy with that lamp.

Thank you very much good sir!!! I am very optimistic about my new Light, I am so excited for it to be delivered!!

On top of that, Mars-Hydro was so easy to work with. Tina replied to all of my e-mails almost immediately, the light was shipped THE SAME DAY I placed my order, only an hour after they got my payment.

All in all, my first experience with Mars-Hydro has been excellent. I had read some less than satisfied customers reviews about their customer service and I have to say I have no idea how you could be upset with this customer service.... I like to think I am a generally an easy person to like, and I try super hard to always be considerate and nice so maybe that played a role.

Anyways, I have tracked my package... 5 times since I woke up this morning? haha still no change though):

I was going to wait to put this info in the update I will be posting tonight, but I feel like I already jam a lot of info in to each update... I like to talk about my ladies.. sorry): haha anyways! Here is a informal update until later tonight when I can post a real update with pictures and the like.

Yesterday was officially the end of the first week of stretch... 7 or so more to go!! So much new vigorous growth, even under these CFL's.. I am extremely proud of how my plants are doing. Currently the ladies are drinking enough water to get a full Gallon of tap on Thursdays and a full gallon of with nutrients on Sundays. I like to get enough run off to completely fill my drip tray to the top.. sounds like a lot of excess water but I promise it isn't haha.

Here is what they were fed last night (day 7) in preparation for week two of Flowering!

-One gallon of water w/
-10 ml FoxFarm Big Bloom // 5ml FoxFarm Grow Big // 5ml FoxFarm Tiger Bloom // 1.25ml (1/4 tbsp) FoxFarm Open Sesame

The past week I have been doing so much tucking, the net is almost full... I am very proud of how I trained the Warlock... She ended up with about 10 main shoots before I spread her out under the trellis... And instead of defoliating a lot of lower growth, I have pulled everything up through the middle and they are all at the trellis already (minus one little runt that I was to nice to pull off haha). Berry Garcia is similar, and the Alien Dawg is doing its thing.. hoping to get 8 very good looking top shelf colas from her.... We will see.

That is about all I have to say for now..

[EDIT] :: I forgot to mention that my PPM meter arrives last week and I took some readings... Denver tap is at 124 from my faucet... I will be posting the PPM of the water after nutes are added, however last night I have a buddy water my ladies and forgot to have him do that.

--UPDATE :: WEEK TWO FLOWERING :: JANUARY 14, 2015--

Whats going on 420mag friends!!!!! Today is an extremely exciting day for me as this update brings many changes to my grow room and many updates on my little ladies!! So this was DAY 10 of Flowering and the ladies are still stretching at full force! Pre-Flowers are shooting everywhere and 7 and 9 bladed leaves are constantly popping up above the Trellis. Speaking of the Trellis, the Warlock and Berry Garcia have covered over 85% of it and I am only waiting on 3 more spots to fill up. The rest of the shoots above the Trellis I am going to leave alone to start growing upwards.

So since the flip to 12/12 the ladies have been under my DIY C.F.L. Light Hood. I built it about 2 months back and it has been working beautifully. I posted its stats on the first page of my Journal but I'll post them here a second time.

-Built of wood, metal sheeting, wires, light sockets, common lamp fixture parts.
-Seven 23W 6500k CFL light bulbs.
-Two 23W 2700k CFL light bulbs.
-One 26W 2700k CFL light bulb.
-233 Watts.
-16,100 Lumens Output.

Also since then I have installed a 4" 190 C.F.M. Inline Duct Fan as exhaust... It draws air from inside the tent through a 4" Carbon Filter and vents it through 4" Ducting down to a 4" Exhaust Duct Outlet. I decided it was worth it to stretch the ducting all the way down the tent help keep it warm. I rearranged the Warlock and Berry Garcia in the tent so they are now side by side (and the Trellis is now positioned longways for better space management). I opened a 4" x 12" screen vent at the bottom of the tent and placed my box fan in front of it. It draws WAY more air in than I expected. Here are some pictures!

Things get a little on the cold side, obviously a High Altitude Grow!! I'm not to worried as these are all Indica Doms and seem to be chugging along still!

Like I said though.. that was all up until today... Which brings me to the first and MOST IMPORTANT change in my Grow Room....

MY L.E.D. HAS ARRIVED!!!!!

This past Saturday I ordered my Mars-Hydro Mars II 700 Watt L.E.D. Grow Light and it came in the mail today. Like I said in earlier posts, excellent service, great shipping, and very well made product... Mars-Hydro definitely exceeded my expectations and I can promise I will be a returning customer. Here are some pictures of me unboxing it!

There isn't really anything new to update you all on about the ladies... I posted earlier this week what they were fed on Sunday for week 2 of Flowering. They are all doin' real good! Just tucking the ladies under the Trellis in the areas that aren't filled, and in the spots that are filled I am letting the shoots grow upwards now. The Alien Dawg is still just having her eight or nine terminal shoots trained to produce the most quality flowers that she is capable of producing. Here are some pictures!

Well everyone... that's all I have to share for now. I hope you all enjoyed reading my update as much as I enjoyed sharing it! I could not be more excited about my set up. I believe (and correct me if I am wrong) that I am now growing in a professional climate and have the equipment to produce professional grade medical flowers. I cannot wait to see what this light is going to do for me... ALSO, this means I get to permanently dedicate my C.F.L. Light Hood to Vegging. I re-configured my previous Grow Closet and turned it into a permanent Veg space.

Thanks so much for stopping by everyone!!! & STAY TUNED!!!

So much more to come.
Sincerely,

MaxYields

oww yeah baby!!!! Now you're cooking!!!

BTW: I had to put on my sunglasses to read this update it so dam bright in here with that light!! haha!

Hell yeah I am! Thanks for the motivation my man!, so excited to watch these plants flower under this L.E.D... I am too excited to see the quality of medicine it will help me achieve even after all of the mistakes I have made along the way. And EVEN MORE excited to see what it can do to a single Strawberry Diesel
:high-five::Namaste:

I have a question, the pots aren't completely dry and today is the day I usually water them... However I want to let them really oak up as much water as they can in between waterings. Would it be bad to not do my regularly scheduled Plain Tap Watering and wait until Sunday and give them their regularly scheduled Nutrient Watering? Would it harm them not to give a Plain Tap watering in between feedings at this point in flowering?

Thanks everyone!

It's good for the roots to let them dry out in veg. Just slow-soak the soil with half plain water on Sunday before you feed. It'll accomplish the same thing.

What is the real watt stay on the mars 2 700?
I like the prices of those mars 2 LEDs! Don't get me wrong love my eshine 3G LEDs but jut curious what others are running.

I've never heard the term "stay" before, and I am relatively... actually I am extremely new too to all of the electrical terms that come with electrical growing equipment. But it has a 330W actual draw, 700W output and is (according to Mars-Hydro) equivalent to a 1100W HID System.

Stupid phone auto correct. That's what I wanted to know. 330w is nice, mine are only 260w. Should be able to do 7-8 ounces with one of those I would think!

Ohhh haha you mean "draw" stupid iPhones! Anyways, yeah I was pretty happy with a 330W draw for 700W of output, considering my alternative was a 600W HID system and that's almost double what it will cost me to run this. I am certainly excited to see how she does, especially for subsequent grows after this one. I have made several "new-grower" mistakes that will cost me on the end yield in this grow, however for my first ever.. I am pretty happy with how things are going.

[EDIT] :: Figured I would mention that I am going to be purchasing another one of these lamps sometime in the next couple months, especially if this light meets (or hopefully exceeds) my expectations. Can't wait to see what I can produce then.

Wow! 660w of led should get close to a pound yield!

That's the plan!!!! :goof:

I know most growers aim for 1g per watt (which is difficult I understand) but if I was to get .5 grams a watt I would harvest 3/4 lbs from this light... which I think could be done. However I am rather new to growing so I don't have the experience behind me to make that happen, but I will be damned if I don't try.

Beautilful setup MaxYields! Lets talk wattage and numbers for a minute as i believe your numbers are off a little.

Your LED is 330 draw wattage and this is the wattage you have to go by when talking numbers. Your LED will produce 11.78 ounces at 1.0 grams per wattage. If you ware shooting for .5 grams a wattage you would be looking at 5.89 ounces. Its all about the draw wattage and I have not seen a LED produce more than 1 gram per draw wattage. Just to let you know theirs no way that 330 draw wattage is equal to a 1100 watt HID system... Thats just crazy talk. (The website is BS if they claim it). Just though i would post this information for you so you can set your expectations and know what you are going to get per these lights you have!

I believe with those beautiful plants, with good care you can easily pull the 1 gram per watt with your setup!!! You have done an awesome job on them and dont think you will have a problem hitting the numbers.

If its at the two week mark i would start letting them grow upwards and stop tucking because you are running out of stretch time and all your buds will form under the screen if they dont stretch above it! Again awesome setup and congratz on the new gear!!!

:goodjob:

Couple of things to keep in mind Max

#1 Your total yield is a result of many factors, not just light although that is one of the main ones. Just not the only one. Lest just say that your new lamp will blow you away. Try not to think in terms of "I'm going for xyz ounces". I know it is extremely difficult not to think in those terms when you do this. But believe me when I tell you, your harvest will make you and your homeys very, very happy. And every harvest beyond that will be better as you sharpen your skill. After a few harvests, you will understand what I mean about not really caring anymore if you get x or y weight because you will find that it makes no difference. Once harvest start coming in, you will never run out or have to buy again.

#2 Regarding not having the experience to pull the weight? I don't claim to know everything, but you're definitely not alone bro. I can swing by anytime.
