Maxxi's - Second Grow - 600W - Tent

Look what a friend brought back from Spain for me. Very nice of him :)

How awesome is that, to get a awesome clipper lighter, and an awesome looking auto seed :p

When I get done with this grow. Maybe after September. Still need to figure out some details etc. I don't have anywhere to put the plants as the tent is in flower mode and do t want to be putting autos in there be a waste. So yeah maybe even with some LEDs. Will be a while though. Well I say while but the days are flying by. Going to upload some pics of the ladies today. Looked a bit heat stressed. I popped three ice packs in there in front of the fan hope it helps bring it down from 31.3(90f) night now as well so should drop well.

Sounds like a plan... mine is in the flower tent though... in a 2 Gallon-ish hempy... from what I've seen so far, Autos seem to produce best somewhere between 12/12 and 18/6 or so, so I figured since I have 3, I'll run this one 12/12 and once it's about 1/2 or so through, I'll pop another and let it run in the veg area... if I can get female pollen off the first one, then I'll pollinate the second :) It'll also be interesting to see the growth difference between the two timing wise, though it's not fair when one is growing under HPS and the other CFL, lol.

Day 37 - 12/12

Peace:peace:

Thank you for your kind words sir. Its my first proper grow so I really cant be happier with the results. If its more than 60g we cover the costs of the tent and everything, that if you calculate the price of one G at 10 euros which is what im going to be running by. Seeing how they look what would your guys estimates be this early in the game?

I'm horrible with estimates Maxxi and I've just started growing myself... what personal experience I have is from the grows of acquaintances more than 15 years ago, lol.... well, that and from fruit and veggies ;) That said, depends on how much the buds swell... you honestly should not have ANY problem exceeding 60g as long as you don't harvest early... I've taken about 1/3 off my 6 runs in the prefab DWC and it has been about 20g worth so far, once quick dried and destemmed, so I'll end up with probably about 60-80g off that sad little grow, so you should be in the 100G+ range on 3 plants that look like they're about what, 2ft - 3ft tall?

Im guessing your gonna well exceed 60g. Im guessing you pull a MINIMUM of 30'gs a plant if you let them fatten up. Next round of pics throw a lighter or something in there fro size reference but if they are as big as I think they are, your gonna be very happy man. :)HID systems seem to swell like no other. You are 37 days in, chop at 70ish?
Those ladies are looking good sir. But that nebula is sexy as hell.
:bravo:

Well you can see in the pics that they are almost up to the door handle but this time round they were sitting on another pot for pics dono why haha. so id guess they are about 80-90 cm tall, i'll lend a tape measure and get some measurements as it would interest me as well. No way am I harvesting early that would mess up and have wasted a lot of time nah sitting this one out till the plants tell me their ready. The problem I am seeing currently is that they are 4 different strains with roughly the same finishing dates in the shop it said that 3 of them are about 58 days but after research most are around the 63 day mark and one is roughly a bit longer. So now to the problem i only have one area to dry and have Oder control and that would be the tent. so all will have to be chopped on the same day, This will make it interesting to see if the plants want to harmonize or not for me :D Depending on the developments and where what strain is at will influence my decisions a lot as some are meant to be real head trippers so i don't really want too much of that kind of bud, more of the creative energetic type of high not so much head fucked or to stoned to move.

Is there enough ceiling clearance in the tent to string some paper bags or cardboard boxes up top? The you could harvest at the right times and place above lights to dry... just a thought ;) :Namaste:

p.s. if they're close to a meter you'll bust past 100g easy.

Thanks spimpy, Yeah ive got a countdown timer on my ipad running the days since 12/12 and also due dates. so 58 days is in 21 days. 65 in 28, and 70 in 34. So there is plenty of time for them to do some gain-age as atm the Lemonsourdiesel and the northern lights are looking a bit lanky and not so fat. but then again i did give the nebula a extra super crop hence her shape in comparison to the other 3 standing up tall and straight. I really am in love with the nebula as well. If i compare the buds on her to the buds from the pc case she already is past that and that was 2 lil plants of 15g. and we got roughly a month to go. I'm ecstatic! The nebula really is something else in comparison i just dont know why shes so far ahead and got the same time lapse as the others left. Nonetheless thanks for popping by to see the ladies and for your kind words.

As for a lighter for comparison sure ill get that for you tomorrow.

Also on another note the plants did show heat stress but only slightly on the larger leafs, just had a look at the tent and were still at 31.3c so around 90f. I am not too worried but the thing i have a hard time coming to terms with is that these plants come from places far far hotter than our grow environments but yet they seem to get influenced by these temps. I mean sure there they grow outdoor and have loads of air etc which also has a huge affect, they too are planted into the ground which means no real root restrictions so they can pan out further and gain access to earth where its not soo hot i guess which may help. i dono just rambling but soil in larger areas in generally cooler the further down. meh nyways thanks spimp :D

There is space yes depending on which box but thats a pretty decent idea but id like to do air dry with no lights so no extra heat fluctuation etc. Plus getting all the work done at once seems to be a lot more efficient when i work, cuz once a break is take then the side tours start haha. Also id like to do a 48 hour darkspell on the ladies before the chop. thanks for the awesome idea though.

You're more than welcome Maxxi... and thanks for the Reps... I was just thinking "what would I do if I needed to solve this without spending $$$" ... if I had a little cash to drop, I'd probably make something like MR. Kips drying box with odor control, though I think I'd do it out of steralite/rubbermade myself with screen layers inside, but same idea... but for little/no cost, box or bags stung at the top ;)

Heres my crazy stoner theory on the "hotter in mother nature" thing, becasue Ive had the same thoughts.
In mother nature there are few days of just stagnant 100% sun power. There are breezes, clouds, dew, and tons of other environmental helpers keeping them cooler than we think. Air temp and plant temp are kinda two different things.
Just leaves shimmering for example keeps them absorbing light, but not being baked.
In tents or boxes we are trying to force them to absorb all we give instead of letting them get what they want. So we often have stagnant envirnments with the same environment, usually brutual amounts of light and heat, every day. Never have a rain storm in the grow box. :wood:

Sorry, took a couple tokes and ranted it up

BTW Ive heard/seen amazing stuff from LaDiva.

Yeah i was thinking along the same lines but could think oh how to write it down. I am sure the weather will turn soon and the plants are going to get some much needed rest. Well actually cut that just had a glimpse on the weather predictions looking like hot for 2 weeks. Um i was thinking of doing a little mod.

I was thinking of getting a second hand freezer clean it then either mod it so that it takes cool air out of the fridge through some ducting or i dissemble the fridge and figure out a way to make a cooler haha. I saw a minibar fridge for 25Euro second hand looked like it hadnt been used at all. may help with the heat and i can kinda control the hot days with a fridge :p

hmmm, if I was going to do it on the cheap, let's see... Remove cooler door, cut 2 or 3 pieces of cardboard that fit over the opening and glue them together, then wrap in plastic. Cut a hole in it the size of the vent tubing. Then I'd tape it over the opening in the cooler, sealing the sides... Attach the venting and tape until sealed, then run venting into grow space... I would NOT use a fan on the venting as the cooler will not be able to put out cold air fast enough to handle it being forced exhausted, but passively in a closed seal like that, your tent exhaust will still exert negitive pressure and if that is an inlet, some of the cool air will come in. The thing I would worry about with something like that is actually the exhaust system for the tent. If you're exhausting the tent, you're exhausting the cool air and a mini-fridge type of system isn't made to cool like that, it literally can't output the cool air fast enough. It might work if the exhaust fan was on a timer and only came on for like 5 mins every 20 or so, but it's iffy. I think I'd probably setup the HPS in a cooltube with it's own input and exhaust, then setup the system like above, with a tent exaust running for only 15 - 20% of the time in a few minute bursts at a time... You'd probably be better off with a cheap, tiny A/C though, using a fridge like that is going to shoot your electric bill through the roof.

Yeah im going to see how much it would set me back for the cool tube, ducting, and vent to run through the cool tube. Well seeing as ive got the one vent pulling air in i could use that as the cooltube vent and then, as the tent has openings on the side to work on the negative presure system it should be able to draw enough outside air in. Question is, is a cool tube worth it?

Everyone who I've talked to who has used them won't stop, lol... I'll be getting one next month IF my temps can't be managed without it, I'd rather get the LED to have the second grow area ready, but the HPS was always a temporary measure for me as far as the tents go, once I have enough LEDs to cover the grow tents, the HPS goes into food garden, lol. That said, if I wasn't juggling things this way, yeah, I'd go with the cool tube... and if I lived 200 miles further south than I do, I wouldn't even consider not using a cooltube... The cooltube will let you get that light a lot closer to your plants, as well as keeping the temps down, so it's a must have, IMO, for using HIDs in an enclosed space... Man, if I'd bought a 600w instead of the 400w, I would have to have a cooltube, I wouldn't be able to get by without it in here.

Aight seeing as i am currently broke I will see but i have a feeling im going to need to play around with everything to figure out how i would set that up as there are only two inlets for ducting and the one on the bottom has the vent hooked up from the outside which aint doing shit with the ducting there now, and the one at the top of the tent which has the duct for the carbon filter. would have to probably get some ducting spliter a Y or something. Any idea what kinda specs the vent would need to be for the cool tube ducting? the stronger the more hot air gets sucked out and more cool air in? i forgot the rating of the one i got sucking air into the tent but I think it would do okay sucking air through a tube :p
