MassMedMan's Spring Fling - Indoor/Outdoor - Organic - Medical - 6 Autos

I gave my girls some special sauce this morning.... check the video

Excellent MassMedMan! The plants will love you for it. I discovered the other day that it's not necessary to bubble the malted barley tea. Simply powder the grain, mix it with reconstituted kelp meal and water, give a brisk stir and let it sit for about 4 hours. After steeping, strain and add the aloe and Ful-Power, then drench.

Don't you love it when an easy job gets even easier?

PS: Your audio cuts out right at the beginning.

Quick picture update. Positive my candy kush are farther along this time. Plenty of variables. I just misted them before bed. They sleep tonight 12-3

Wow

Wow! I'm speechless.

I watched it happen in my first grow. I'm watching it happen again in this run. It still stuns me, how powerful this soil recipe is.

Wow. :bravo:

Bet it helps with that special sauce

Crazy how some people percieve what's organic without proof.

This co journal will remove all doubt bud of true yielding situations

Each plant is in different soil btw. Each soil mix was tweaked just a little. A couple have a fox farms base, a couple have a Coast of Maine. The ones that have been amended have a plus + on the plant tag. There is one straight COM with nothing added, but the other five are each a lil different.

My guess at this point, and I'm trying to be objective, it's a few things,, i think it's getting more obvious each day that the best plants/thickest,, are LOS plants. I think a week or two will be more interesting to compare. The only one not in LOS, although it's been receiving the same foilars, teas, and light,,, is noticeably smaller. It's also the only one in a five gallon can,, that may be a factor?? It's the only one not in perlite, and I looked yesterday and there are no roots coming down. And, it is,, a totally different breed. And that may have something to do with it. That is the THC Auto and it looks fine,, but,, it's not like the LOS ones, and there are two strains involved there.....

I think all my plants will veg LOS,,, from there I'll adjust based on several factors.

Thanks for checking me out,, cold and wet today.

Spectacular MMM. #5 in my grow was the runt for the first month. Then it decided to spread wings and take off and is now my largest plant and a Day younger than the other two. So I wouldn't count that short just yet. She may just be a late bloomer. And who knows what she will do once she gets her running shoes on!

love the updates. Looking superb!

I was curious about that too. The video quits at the point where you begin to explain what you're doing with the enzyme tea.

Is your sst (special sauce) any different than what everyone else is doing?

No, and sorry Sue I missed where you asked. That's the bas malted barley. Did two gallons so I used four tablespoons which I crushed/grinded up. Put in bucket, bubbled for 24, then about an hour before I used it I added a cup of aloe, coconut, and ful power water. In one of the bas blogs I saw something similar recommended by coot.

Coots version had 5oz of full power, I just used a cup of diluted.

I need to have a few notes before I make those videos cause I want to keep them short and sweet, but I have a case of the BID. Born Italian Disease... gives me diarrhea of the mouth sometimes. ;)

Thanks for stopping by, have a nice day!

Yah, I see much improvement every day. Problem was the bean stuck to the cotelyn thingy,, tried to remove without surgery but I had to snip. So, it basically started with no starter leaves. So, the first true took time, but as they grew (and I had other things to occupy me,, so I didn't fiddle with it) each day as leaves got bigger it was able to draw in more energy and I can see the third set of true leaves today. They are barely coming,, but, I'm just looking for progress. When I saw the roots the other day I knew it would only be a matter of time. I'm patient, I have other things to worry about and that is best for a struggling plant. Leave it alone.

Thanks, Chef, nice to have you by!

I don't want to sound like an idiot, but I don't understand the LOS concept, so I naturally have a lot of questions.

What is the reason for growing other plants in the same soil? At first thought it almost seems counterproductive, as more than one plant has to compete for resources, but is there something that I'm missing?

I'll leave this to you MassMedMan. I'll be interested in reading your response.

I'm not sure yet, Antics. It's my gut response. I suppose I'll try that at some point. But, I like the idea of starting fresh,, maybe that means used and recharged soil. But, I'm leaning towards doing that. Each run I'll empty the pots in 55g. Recharge for a couple months, and then get it back in action. But, I will take one seed after this run is over and drop it in a can I recently harvested.

So, I'll know first hand.

Suppose that's different then what Sue's true LOS approach is. I'm going to try, but I want to find a happ medium.

I want to veg and set my pots up LOS style,, then I think I'll be more willing to explore other methods.

I want to try every method. I'm still in soil 101.

Still figuring it out, good question cause it makes me think!

So let me jump in, if you don't mind. Antics, the plants do better in a shared pot, regardless of what plants are in there together. It's actually been proven that You can raise multiple cannabis plants in the same container and they don't compete for the resources at all. An active and healthy soil food web accommodates all the plants, sharing the resources between them as needed. If the raw materials are present, the SFW is more than up to the task.

Of secondary benefit is the maintenance of the mycorrhizal fungi community, the major players in the SFW. They must be attached to living roots, and there are times, as in my case, when the cannabis gets harvested and the new plant doesn't get into the pot immediately. Having other plants in there keeps that community active and vibrant.

Then there's the benefit of recycling the living mulch into the soil by trim and drop practices. The clover are particularly useful here, since they fix nitrogen, which is then added when you trim and drop. One can customize the living mulch to your needs, if you so desire.

Lastly, the living mulch will keep the top surface of the soil medium from becoming compressed and drying out. There's an incredible amount of microbial activity going on in that top layer and you want it to remain loose enough to let all those microbes move freely through the soil solution. If that top layer dries out those microbes are compromised. With LOS it's important to maintain as even a level of hydration as possible. We don't practice any wet/dry cycles with LOS and the living mulch helps tremendously in this regard.

I hope that helped. If not, please don't hesitate to ask again. We'll get it.

Sue, have some auto regular seeds coming. Looking for a male. I have a nice 14 gallon box, plastic type, that I was thinking putting three or four plants in. I saw you wrote that shouldn't be a problem with one plant being dominant or maybe two? I was going to sub Divide the box, but your recent comments make me think.....

Thanks
