Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Hello!

I'm noticing that the reflector series now has 5 watt chips. I'm thinking of adding another light, and my first choice was another Mar 2 900.. but looking at the 192x5 watt reflector series, I'm not so sure?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I'm wondering pro's and cons between the 2?

Thanks!!

:circle-of-love: Hi noobie, during flower, you can keep it 12"~18" above the canopy.:high-five:
BTW....how high are you guys keeping your lights from the canopy?

Thank you for the advice, Neil. It will help many people who first grow under LED.:thumb:
Germination:24-30
Vegetation: 18-24
Flower: 12-18

If you were previously using Fluoros Start it at 30 and work it down 3 or 4 inches a day. I run my 600 between 12-16 inches at flower.

:high-five: full spectrum is necessary. Be careful not to lose spectrum.
In flower, 16 inches is probably low enough. You want the light high enough so that the led's can still all blend together to give you the full spectrum all the way across your plant.

:thanks: thanks for this info. :hugs: I couldn't agree more. The best way is your own way after practices. :thumb:
everyone has dif experiences. ask 10 farmers the best way to grow there crop and they may answer similar but the details will vary. my biggest and frostiest buds are the ones that are closest to the panel (i have some tops in my current grow less than 3 inches away) but you will have to have the plant right under the panel as the coverage will be horrible (LEDs run off of lenses or reflectors that put out the light at an angle so the closer to the plant the less the light can travel at the intended angle). so i would say that for flower 18 inches from canopy gives you the best coverage and intensity but i keep my canopy 12 inches with the stretchier branches as close as i can without them touching the panel

:circle-of-love:Hi breezy, it's our old mode 60x5w. It's not fake. I have checked your journal. It seems your plants grow slowly. One has turned yellow. You can add more nutes for this one. :high-five:
Hi Sara - Sorry I cannot PM yet - need more posts - but can you look at my signature and help? I am having trouble with my LED light and want you to see if you can tell if it is fake?

:circle-of-love: welcome, Chipper. Reflector192x5w and MarsII900w are close in draw watt. They differ in design. The distance between leds of MarsII series is closer than that of Reflector, so MarsII has higher intensity and penetration. However, due to that, MarsII has smaller coverage comparably while Reflector will cover more space. That's why the coverage of MarsII900w is 3.5'x3.5' and Reflector192 is 4'x4'. :high-five:

Hey everyone I'm new to this forum and have a question about Mars and what people here would recommend. I am constructing a new grow set up using a 4' x 8' gorilla tent for a flower room. I plan to set up a Aeroponic / NFT system which will house 16 plants. I have done a lot of reading on this thread and others about different LED's and have decided to go with Mars. However this is where I'm torn.

Money is not a limiting factor here and I want the strongest lighting I can get with the best coverage. So my question is for people who have used these lights before. I'm thinking I'll end up wanting 3 individual lamps. Also keep in mind these lights will be used for flowering only as I have a separate tent set up for the veg stage. Do I go with the Mars2 1600's or the MarsPro Epistar320's or the Reflector series?

I say go with the epistar 320 , we use one and have another on the way , great coverage for 4x4 . If money is no object , get the cree 256 instead , 2 of either would work nicely
