Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I don't think my plant's were "cooked" by temps. It took awhile to manifest, but after a couple weeks you could tell that the plants were yellowing severly right under the light. Other parts of the same plants were fine. Only areas directly under the light got "burned".

Yep it is not a too high temp thing like with HPS or MH. It all about the intensity of the light.

a couple of questions for sara as well as for anyone who can chime in:

Sara, in post # 1575, you advised Grizzwald that it is ok to open the case and replace the standard cooling fan with a fan of the purchaser's choice, such as a computer fan. would altering the internal components like that void the warranty?

You commented on the COB models in post # 500. I've seen very little about them since that post. I know Jon705 and at least one other person who posts here has used them, maybe it was BID? can you tell us about the COB models? are they available still? what advantages or disadvantages do they compared to the other two main lines, the Mars2 and the reflector series? I did read one comment that stated jon705 felt the veg stage using his COB didn't meet his expectations but that was indirect and I don't recall any other feedback or reviews.

how does one decide that the reflector series or the Mars2 series is a better choice? from going through most of these posts, i've gathered that positives for the reflectors are the ability to switch spectra and they have more options for rectangular growth areas. the positives for the Martians are..., higher power? deeper penetration? I saw this was addressed somewhat in the last few pages but I'd like to hear how some of you made your choice of one line over the other.

i would appreciate anyone answering the light questions, not just sara's input. the journalists i've been reading, Jon705, icemud, crawdaddy, BID, et al, all seem extremely reputable. with very few exceptions, the comments on the TOPLED products have been highly positive. i just have a hard time knowing why to pick one line vs the other. please bear with me if i have made previously asked/answered questions. I have gone through this whole thread but in pieces over several days. it's a lot to absorb, this place. being a tetch over the A.D.D line doesn't help me here either.

"What's it all about, Alfie?"

Lastly, Sara, I want to compliment you on the reputation you have established. I've never communicated with you yet, but you have what great service professionals strive for: a reputation for making sure the customer is taken care of. your use of the forums is a very savvy way of helping everyone learn about your product. best of luck this new year, may it be even more profitable for you than the year before. just don't get so good that you get promoted before I figure out what i intend to buy!!

sorry to all for the lack of brevity. it's a condition i have

I have one of the COB light. It is cool technology but my understanding is only 2 wavelength, so Sara offered a free UFO supplemental for more spectrums for those who bought one, which I do not think was many. Mine is doing the trick so far, with the UFO supplemental, feel free to check out journal.

I do not believe they are offering them right now, but not sure.

thanks CD, I couldn't remember which of you all had it. having finally finished the thread, I was just too lazy to scroll back through all those posts to find it.

Onavelzy, id say go with a mars 2 over a reflector. You wont be disappointed. They really are pretty fantastic lights.

Also, i wouldnt get too bent out of shape over the spectrum. The standard spectrum works great for both veg and bloom.

Id like to add that they say the footprint for a 1200 is 4.5x4.5, i find that at 36" its more like 4x4 realistically. If you had a big room full of plants, id put them each covering 4x4 sections.

Also, sara advised me a couple weeks ago to never open the Mars 2 casing. It will void the warranty.

email replied.
I've just noticed my 192x3 is twisted.... not sure if it was delivered that way or has happened from heat.. anyone else have same problem?

Dear Onavelzy, nice to meet you .

1,customers are not allowed to open the light without our permission. if they open, no warranty any more.

2, For the COB did not work well, so we do not sell it now. we are making new lights now, it will come out in the next half year.

3, comparing reflector light and mars II, you are right. if I were you, I will choose the light according to my needs. I want bigger coverage or higher penetration, etc. you can email me, I will give you more suggestions.

Thank you again, Chinese new year is coming, busy days but exciting. welcome to China and celebrate with me.lol.

Okey. Thank u blazin. I know shipping inside the EU can go quickly. When something is send its normaly by the door after 3 days. Im looking at some leda, but not sure yet. We'll see what they say about shippment. :) thanks again.

No problem, dang 3 days if fast I wish we had that. And the 2 weeks is a maximum, I've seen people get them on average about 4-5 days after payment.

Honestly led is the way to go and mars2 is what's doing it, you will not find a cheaper light that's quality. Every other manufacture is is more expensive or doesn't offer the same footprint as mars2.

Just a headsup - I think next week is Chinese New Year, so Sara may be hard to talk to next week. Git 'er done this week.

... I think ...
