Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

to sweet spot on the marsII's is 24" away from the canopy. It so you can get the proper mix of all the colors of light. Even coverage and all that.

That being said I hang my lights at the top of my tent and the plants on the floor don't stretch and the taller plants do great as well. These are just great lights no matter how you slice it :)

High lostreas, found your order and we are now checking with DHL, nowadays the shipping to your country is kinda abnormal, recently many packages are delayed in shipping. :( :Namaste: Hope the situation will be soon bettr :circle-of-love:
Hello sara, i sent you email regarding my order. For the led i am gonna use another relay timer and see.

Thank you GoldenEagle for the sharing, :circle-of-love: I am sure many growers will find this useful, lol :cheesygrinsmiley:
Sarah,

I think you would like to know. Within a grow space that is 53.34cm square and is 1.6m tall. I am getting a 10,240 lux reading, from the 48pcs x 3w reflector light I bought recently, at 1.24m above the floor. I have had to raise the light unit because the lights where bleaching the fan leaves with the unit hanging at 45cm.

lol, glad your are all liking our lights, hopefully you will grow better and better, :thumb::cheer:
I Know there are too many factors to point out any single one as the cause but I am getting ready to cut my best grow yet under 4 of these in a 4x4. Nugs so heavy everything is now laying all over each other....... Same strain same nutes just changed the lighting in this tent......... They may not be fancy but I KNOW they work :)

I believe different ppl grow differently and will get different plants' feedbacks oinnk, lol :circle-of-love:
By the way, your plants looks so nice there :circle-of-love:
That sounds truly strange, because my 48*3W is 1-8cm from the canopy and there is no sign of bleaching, even at the bud site that is almost touching the light. I veg'd for 35 days, so this little monster of a plant (indica) took over the whole 40x40x120cm space and there is simply no more room to lift the light any higher. Luckily it doesn't seem to matter much because the plant is very happy and the reflector isn't nearly hot enough to cause any burns.

Here's what it's looking like at the moment:

Not that strange at all, one main thing left out is some strains react different then others. I have many that love as much light as I can give them and some that want me to put sun block on them lol Also humidity level and plant stress can affect this in flower. Knowing your plants and adjusting light is one key for happy, tasty and sweet smelling buds. Awesome growing you have done keep it growing green :passitleft:

High supergroomer, nice sharing :circle-of-love::circle-of-love: Keep the great work on :thumb:
Just a few pics from this AM.

And lastly, here is what is going on in the veg tent. Sleestak Skunk is re-vegging after showing her sex. The little clone is a Super Silver Haze and the two seeds that have not shown their heads yet are Heavyweight Dream Machine and Dr Krippling Incredible Bulk.

What Co said... I have grown strains that can literally sit on the M-H lights and others that literally start curling at 12"... and I know I have said it a bunch of times but truly... you should not be worrying about how close your girls can get without burning them but how far they need to be to get the benefit of the full spectrum... Of course if your girls grow to tall you have a bit of a problem but I try and train my girls to stay low....:circle-of-love:

Thank you Kriaze, I will definitely check your grow journal later. :high-five:
Hi Sara I've just taken some LUX readings of both your Mars II 1600w and your Reflector series 96x3's. I'm not sure if you deliberately downplay the lumen output of these lights (especially the Mars II 1600w) as part of a marketing ploy, so that every customer is happier than they expected but let me tell you that I was pleasantly surprised! If you would like to check out my results and have anything you would like to add please feel free to drop into my Plushberry clones grow in my signature and check it out.

All the best everyone, have a great weekend :thumb:

High MonkeyTime, thanks for the update there, if your email has not been replied, can you resend it again to me? :circle-of-love: I will give you a sound feedback :high-five:
Ok party people, we've finally had a chance to sit down and open these problem fixtures up. I'm really happy with everything I've found too!

You can see that the relfectors are being held up with not a stud, but a plastic screw and nut. While this sounds like a great way to fasten them, they obviously loosen up in shipment. All of the lenses I have drooping or falling off are missing the nuts and/or the studs!

Normally I would think this was an acceptable fastening and prefer it, but I have to say, a bare stud with a spring steel nut would probably be more cost effective as well as handle shipping better. A simple fix!

Sara, I'll follow this up with an email, but if you could just ship me a bag of studs and nuts, I can fix this pretty quick :high-five:

As far as the rest of the fixture goes, I'm very impressed with the build quality. Almost too much so! It's not easy to separate the back panel from the front because of the cabling. The three that go from the drivers to the boards do have quick disconnects (code required, but still nice to see) but for security, they each have a ty-wrap holding them together, nice touch!

So far, she's loving the light, I can't wait to get the other hanging up there too!

Healthy green all,

MT

High ganjazz, :circle-of-love: the light might be a little close to your girl, if she react not comforting, please try to hang the light higher, :high-five:

Looking like a sweet setup there ganjazz, clean and discreet. You might want to consider making a journal so that other people can join you in your grow. All the best :thumb:
Great :high-five:
Started a grow journal already ;)

How wonderful nice you are, really appreciated the help you know GoldenEagle, :thumb::thanks:
The main point of my post is to give Sara, the lux reading within my particular grow space.

Just for the sake of giving more information about my particular grow space:
Wall material/color: Dry Wall/ Matte white
Temperature: 25 degrees Celsius (with light on and both switches flipped to the on position)
Humidity: 50-55%

Grow medium: Humus soil mixed with compost
Container: 11.4L Smart Pot
Nutrients: Bio-Canna and additional molasses.
Water: Single pass carbon filtered tap water
:cheesygrinsmiley::passitleft:
:sorry: thought you just wanted the Lux #'s in general....:circle-of-love:

High Goldensack, I would say a 900w will be better for your space, lol :passitleft:
Hey Sara!
Ive read a good deal of posts about different LED lights and I am leaning towards getting a MarsII, I do have a couple questions if you dont mind.
I have a fairly small grow tent, 36"x36"x72". Could you tell me if I would be better off with a MarsII, or a Mars reflector unit. I have read that the MarsII will produce slightly more heat than the reflector unit does. But, I am not really worried about heat being an issue as I have a decent ventilation exhaust system.

IF you think the MarsII would be better for me, would you recommend the 400w unit or the 700w for the size space I have.
I dont mind investing more in a unit if it is a good one.
really I appreciate any info you can give me!

:Namaste:
I have a 900 in my flower tent and 2 400's in my veg tent. :peace:
High Goldensack, the mars II and reflector lights are designed differently. :circle-of-love: Mars II uses better components than reflectors, :circle-of-love:
how big is your veg tent? you may have already seen my other post, but what do you think about the Mars reflector144x5w its less expensive than the MarsII700w and has more wattage, as well as the added bonus of veg and flower switch(which i think is cool:) )

That is right, thank you lostreas, :circle-of-love:
Consdering that your tent is 9 feet (3x3) and going by the 45-50w/square foot rule, i would say you need the 700w mars hydro minimum. I believe a 900w Mars hydro (consuming ~450w real watts) would be great.

Hey kelticBlue, :circle-of-love: you can use the reflector lights, temperature is not a concern and cheaper than mars II lights, and supergroomer is right, get one 96x3w, will be suitable for your space. :circle-of-love:
Hey friends,
I have almost the same question. Except my tent is 1.5 feet X 2.5 feet (30x18in). I have almost got myself a Mars II 400W then looking at the reflector series I have to wonder.
I would like to keep the heat down. I currently have 2-250Watt CFL (one red and one blue). So I am very eager to get a LED.
My biggest concern is keeping the price below 250usd.
Cheerz all.
Thank you supergroomer. :circle-of-love:
If I were you I might consider the 96x3 reflector. The coverage are might be better suited to your grow area. :peace:
