Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Hello to everyone, hello Sara...I recently got 300w "old models" from you and i am facing a slight problem with one of them. When the lights go off, one of the leds stays dimly lit as you can see in the pic. There appears to be no light in the room but if you look underneath the led you can see its very very dimly light.

I was wondering if this is gonna cause a problem in flowering since i know that even the slightest light could create problems. I haven't understood because you can't really see anything in my room with lights off, even the slightest glow of light. But when i look under this damn led, i am seeing it how i described and what you see in the pic. What can i do for this? I tried to connect it to a different timer (i have them connected to a relay timer that you can see in the pic too), to different socket, still the same. It goes completely off only if i don't have it connected to any socket. I can't do everyday the same with lights off come flowering time. It would be very impractical.

Thank you.

:cheer::cheer: Thanks Six, the mini review is really not mini at all, I am sure it will help more ppl know our products better before purchasing. :circle-of-love:Really appreciated. :thumb:
I received my Mars II 900w two days ago. So far I'm very impressed! I'd like to share a mini review..

PACKAGING
Mars Hydro uses a heavy cardboard box for shipping, certainly a requirement. Very nice to see thick cardboard corner protectors in use. These things are tough, very hard to bend or crush them without tools. As you can see from pic, box corners saw abuse during shipping; the corner protectors help in an awesome way.. keep using these Mars Hydro!

Box was sealed with three strips of thin shipping tape. Thin shipping tape is easily snapped at the points shown during shipping, which allows the box top (or bottom) to "flap" away from the box. The center strip was still in tact down the flap which kept it closed, but heavier tape would keep the flaps secured to the box at the points shown.

FIT & FINISH
The unit is nicely finished in a powder coat enamel, a very durable and elegant finish. Anchors are heavy duty. Thick metal and Plexiglas are used. An aluminium heatsink spans the entire panel, note the tall heatsink fins. Their "rippled" surface area and height increase overall surface area. The fans then force air across that surface area, and warm air is exhausted out the sides. Nicely done Mars Hydro:

The unit is solid and heavy, a good thing. The anchor points are heavy brass and seem to handle the load quite well. Worth noting, the screws that hold the top and bottom together are also load bearing, they hold the unit together pretty much. If those screws suddenly disappeared while unit was suspended, the bottom portion with light panel panel would come crashing down. In short, use of quality screws here is important. Mars Hydro has it covered. I suggest insuring all screws are tight prior to hanging.

SUGGESTED DESIGN CHANGE
The anchor points are oddly configured. As a result, the unit hangs in a diamond pattern instead of a square pattern:

It's certainly possible to square the unit using weight of power cord or by other means; but moving the anchor points to the corners would remedy this issue. Unit would be better supported and easier to hang and "square" if anchor points were moved to corners:

Mars Hydro supplies four nice wire hangers, and one cheap aluminium D-Ring. The wire hangers are great.. they'll support the product for life. They skimped on the D-Ring though. I spent a few dollars and grabbed a steel D-Ring. While the supplied D-Ring may work, I feel better having a more solid D-Ring in place. I suggest Mars Hydro supply a better quality D-Ring. Light aluminium on left, steel on right:

I can't comment on performance as of yet, most of you seem impressed. Okay gotta run!
You are always welcome to share your thoughts here, :thumb: Hope you will grow happy with our light :thanks:

High EARTHWALKER, it is never too late to try the new things, as long as you use, you will benefit from it. haha :cheesygrinsmiley: Happy growing alwasy. :circle-of-love:
Just to report that after a couple of weeks using my 48x3 my white widow absolutely loves it! Seems to be bushing up a lot quicker that with my 400w HPS. Also the lack of intense heat is an absolute godsend. The 3 chilli plants in there with her are doing nicely too. I wish I'd gone down the LED route last year.

High Wahtoogee, nice question, the place we mounted the hangers are been tested to be the best place by our engineers, so we put brass hols there. :circle-of-love: And so far it is been tested by most growers. :volcano-smiley: Anyway, we will consider this advice and maybe in the future, we will make some change on the light. Thank you. :thanks:
Sara... "Sixs'" review reminded me of something I always wondered about myself.. That is, Where the hangers on the unit are mounted? Was that a definite design, engineering decision? Cause otherwise, I agree with Six... I'd like them at the corners!

Personally Six , I use a light chain from a hanger to a hangar and then use my light hangars to the center of the chain. Mars hangars I also have attached as a safety... But I want all the adjustability, headroom I can get and also being able to change light ANGLE... sometimes I tilt it to shine more light into a corner, etc..

I am sorry to hear that TheMunchies, I have noticed this problem, please ship the light back to us, and we will send new lights to you, :circle-of-love:
SERIOUS ISSUES NEED ADDRESSED ASAP PLEASE.

I Purchased (2) 144x5 Reflector Series Lights and they both have issues.

I made a video, but to sum it up. The panels are drooping from both of my lights and on one of my light fixtures the hanger is broken.

And everyone else here, if you have any questions with your lights, please feel free to tell us, only when we noticed the light problem, we will check and make improvement accordingly, thank you. :thanks:

Emailing you now Sara. Thanks for the help:Namaste:

:circle-of-love:
Wow! Better go check mine throughly !!!! We got ours on the same day so I'm pretty sure they are from same batch!
No worry Monkey, we will handle it, I believe Lucy has get back to you now. :circle-of-love:
I haven't opened my two up yet, but I'm guessing the mount just has a loose nut?

Both of my fixtures had the same issue with the reflectors, they were even missing some of the little plastic studs. We'll have to see what they come up with as a solution......

Sara/Mars, I keep hearing about great customer service, let's see it!

High Zombiewoof, glad you like the result from our LEDs. :thumb:
HiSara !
been away while ,
my Mars II 3 each 900's & 3 each 400's produced the best weed I've ever smoked , bested even the top shelf @ the dispensaries here in my area .
tric production was off the hook on both Bomb's THC & Barney's LSD
tight assed buds as well

I'm interested in that new 5watter reflector

NOW does that come with Cree 5 watt leds ?
are they all Cree ?
is the IR infrared leds still there ?
are they in stock in the USA ?
We are now have 5watt 144x5w light in stock, I believe the 96x5w is available now too. :cheesygrinsmiley: And other 5watt reflector will coming soon too. :cheer:
Please notice that all the mars II and reflector lights are using Epistar chips. We are making the Cree lights, but it is still not available, :volcano-smiley: and there is no IR lights in the Cree lights, Cree don't have IR. :Namaste: We will not have the Cree lights in US stock, at least not until Sep. :Namaste:
Be patient growers, the best things always appear later during the show, lol :circle-of-love:

Thank you uptosumpn, :cheer: great to have you guys here, been so helpful :Namaste:
Money transfer from PayPal complete ! 60x5 light just ordered on Amazon !!! :cheer:

Hug hug, we will figure out the best solution together, don't worry. :Namaste:
The one hanger that was loose in the video has now completely fallen off the light, I received these lights last Tuesday and went to hang them today. So disappointed, I'd even say heart broken. This has stopped my operation completely. I didn't feel comfortable leaving the other light hanging considering i was holding one of the other lights hangers, in my hand.....

I am hoping to return these to get my money back. ($400+) or Get them replaced with a Mars 2 as it seems the reflectors are poorly made.
Thank you Celt :circle-of-love:
I wouldn't say they were poorly made mate. As much as we would like it otherwise, when it comes to mass production, 100% QC never happens. This is why Mars Hydro tries to keep construction simple so we can fix minor problems ourselves. Shipping it back to the company for repairs costs us as growers because we lose our lights for weeks.
Just like buying a new car that has problems, only you can't take it to a local dealership
:circle-of-love:
At this point one of them must be sent back for repairs, I'm going to send both and hopefully get a mars 2 1200 as a replacement.

You too, guambomb80, hope you get the light soon, lol, and enjoy the LED show, haha :cheesygrinsmiley:
Awesome! I was thinking the one they gave me was the ufo but I ended up with the 48x3 reflector. I'd rather have the reflector anyway, but with 5 watt diodes... but hey, it was free and when it gets here I'll decide if I want to go all led for veg or keep my t5. I'll do a check on the reflector when it gets here, seems like I need to grab some Loctite for the hangers before I install it though. Enjoy your light uptosumpn!

Thank you Wahtoogee :Namaste:
Munchies, the hangars just have a nut on the inside that came loose... It will take about 5 minutes to fix if you wanted to. I can see you wanting to upgrade to the Mars II, don't get me wrong. But at these prices...these lights are a steal. Me, I'd just add a dab of silicone sealer on the loose corners, fix the hangars and grow some weed... But I'm not trying to tell you what to do... I'm sure Sara and crew will make you "whole"..
