Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

thnks everyone. before i go run out to the grow shop to buy calmag. i was wondering what u guys think of this?
i have cal/mag supplement pills meant for humans. its a vitamin supplement we bought once and never used. i have alot left over and was wondering if i could just dilute it and use it instead. what dyou all think?

heres the specs:

Contains boron - a mineral that improves absorption of calcium and magnesium
Plus 200 IU of vitamin D, essential for calcium absorption in the body

Instructions:
2-1 capsules daily with a meal Contents: 100 capsules Composition:

Name the component

The amount of the component
Calcium
Carbonat calcium from
calcium citrate
calcium aspartate
333 Mg
Magnesium
from magnesium Oxcide
Magnesium gluconate, Magnesium hydroxide, Magnesium aspartate
134 mg
Boron
from boron citrate
1 mg
Vitamin D3
Cholecalciferol
200 IU

I'm not sure that I would use these as the nutrients might be in a different form than plants can take. I'm going to ask someone who probably would try or maybe even has tried with these what they think. This guy has done grows feeding just baby milk before today and he's always experimenting with nutrients. Hopefully they'll drop in and pass on some wisdom :)

Let's see:

In General Organic's Cal/Mag Plus the caicum is derived from Calcium Carbonate and the Magnesium is derived from Magnesium Carbonate.

Calcium carbonate is found in limestone. You can buy pure Calcium Carbonate at some health food stores. Off the top of my head the brand "NOW" sells pure calcium carbonate powder.

Most "Gym chalks" are made up of pure magnesium carbonate. If you can't find "gym chalk" at a local athletic store, epsom salt is commonly used for gardening purposes. Epsom salt is magnesium sulfate.

I personally would not even consider it an option but that is just my opinion and not worth a lot.. I honestly would go with out it before using that... If you are short the $10 or so just wait until you have it... If your girls are still in veg you should be fine and as far as that goes I have done complete grows without it but my grows with it are better........:circle-of-love:

thnks everyone for all the great advice.
the main question is actually a specific one. being that im using BIOBIZZ starter pack nutes. my tap water is from a very good natural water source (all the water in our area is from natural underground fresh well sources). in addition i have a good carbon filter on my water.
so my tap water, together with the biobizz mixed in, comes out to around a PH of 6.
so being that all this seems optimal, would i still need to add CALmag to balance out problems with the LED's. or is it unescesary?

Are you in soil? What is the runoff ph? you should be at 6.5 or so. 6 will lock out some nutes. Here is a chart.

I have been recommending my local store carry Mars Hydro lights and I hear the old small plants, no growth , stretched growth from low light and on and on. Well I showed my plants ten day growth then we talked electric bills to which he shrugged and grunted in silence......... Priceless!

It depends on the nutrients you used to grow with:

A) Organics/Veganics: You can flush if want. If you do, start flushing two weeks before harvest.
B) Synthetics: Start flushing, at least, two weeks before harvest.

Please keep in mind the above is just a general suggestion. Some people "Flush" in between feedings rather than wait till two weeks.

Another thing, to keep in mind. This particular thread isn't for growing advice it is discussion on Mars-Hydro LED grow lights. There is a plethora of information that can be found if use the forum's search function or do a general web search.

Good day Happyjoy, I am sorry to get back to you this late, hopefully other growers have given to you the good advices. lol :circle-of-love:

Absolutely great advice Golden and another member (BAR) uses crushed egg shells for added calcium.....:circle-of-love:

High Joy, the PH is okay, but you will still need the cal and mag. :high-five:
