Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Awesome pic genie......that's kinda what I had in mind......versatility........what size tent is that? Yeah I don't know exactly what strand or strands I'll end up sticking with but I got some gsc, chocolope, bubble gum, and white widow.......all bag seeds to start with.....been collecting for awhile......who knows if I got any kind of greenthumb i will def invest in some good fem seeds.

Hey all, I was just catching up on this wonderful thread and figured I would share since all of you and this thread is the reason I went LED route instead of small HPS. I really couldn't be happier with how big and dense the buds are already and today is only Day 41 of 12/12 cycle. Here are a few pictures for your viewing pleasure. :volcano-smiley::peace:

Picture from 11/22/14, the power went out for about an hour so I took her out for pics and let her stare out of the back window while power restored.

I added the scrog net for stability and organizational effectiveness, this is NOT a SCROG grow by any means, the next round WILL be.

Very dense for how young these flowers are(41 Days today). I usually don't count the first 7 - 10 (transition phase) days so I let them go 65-70 days for strains that are right around 8-9 weeks. Preflowers usually show Definitively on Day 6 of 12/12 flower phase in my experience. Harvest will be anywhere from Christmas to New Years, can't wait. Happy Growin' ALL!! :thanks:

email got, but I am not sure if I can ship out before that day, I will get news from US later.
Yay, tents! Just sent you an email. My birthday is the 15th, would be a great b-day to be mailed by the 15th!

Hello Dr PKD, :welcome:

because it is the first time you use LED I prefer you use more smaller light, that will be flexible for your grow and you can change according the plants. I recommend you use four pieces reflector 144x3w. and you can cover your area well.

yes, we have them stock in Australia and you can get the light 3~5days usally, our warehouse is located at NSW and ship through AUpost.
Hi Sara (and others)

I have decided to go with your Mars Hydro LED's after a quick change of mind from my MH/HPS setup. I have a few questions and would like some advice if any other growers with these lights are able to give some input. For starters, the area I will be illuminating is ~ 7' x 4.5', and I'll be using the light for both veg and flowering. MONEY is not a factor in this decision really, its more about performance than anything.

I have considered both a Mars Hydro Reflector Series and Mars Hydro II setup. For the reflector series, the most light I will be able to squeeze into the space is 3 of the "3W x 192" lights, which would provide a rough output of ~1800W. I have seen a youtube video of a medical grower who claims that your 700W mars hydro II light was not powerful enough to properly light a 4' x 4' area, so I am not completely sure if 3 of the reflectors would be sufficient. The other choice I considered was instead 2 x MARS II 1200W lights. This would provide 2400W of lighting in total. The only problem I have with this is that some of the background research I have conducted is pointing at improved performance with 3W LEDs over 5W LEDs, particularly because a) 5W LEDs are less thermally efficient, ie they have increased heat output over 3W LEDs (would prefer to keep heat low) and b) they have increased light penetration which may lead to bleaching/light burn if not careful.

CAN ANYONE please give me your well researched/informed opinion as to which set up you think would be best to use in my given grow space. For some reason I am leaning to the 3 x reflector set up, even though the light output is less, 3W LEDs seem to appeal to me more, for one reason or another.

Also another question for you SARA, are these lights in stock at the Australia warehouse? If so, how long will shipping be to a main city roughly?

Thanks for your advice in advance

Dr PKD

those lumen ratings are probably for white leds (blue leds coated with phosphor) and I don't get how a 3 watt diode is brighter than a 5 watt diode. I don't know why manufacturers use infrared leds in grow lights. infrared leds were the first leds to become available and the least efficient. they're dim and waste a lot of energy as heat. I think the best leds would be the ones that are closest to white (to get the most lumens possible), but still have shades of the colors plants need. this would mean not using far blue and far red leds and instead using middle of the ground blue and red leds (like 470 nm and 630 nm). of course these are my speculations, but see what factory thinks? :)

sara, a couple questions. what's a good ambient temperature for these lights? currently the temperature above my led fixture is 85 degrees fahrenheit after 12 hours of operation. at 120 volts how many watts does the 100x3w old model draw? how about the 96x3w reflector model? thanks.

actually, we only use very very very less infrared led in the light, and plants need a lot red and blue, so we use a lot, but plants also need some other color, just not as many as red and blue, so we use white color to provide the right color for plants growing. one advantage of led is you can choose the right color you want:) so we choose the color plants need.

ambient temperature is around 80~85F usally, 100x3w draw power is 150~170watt. 96x3w is 170~200watt.

you are welcome, happy growing AMK:)))
Hey, Sara, my Mars Hydro LED Grow Light 100*3w arrived today! Thank you so much, Sara, and c526! ;)

I noticed someone choose pay through Western Union on our website, but they did not send us MTCN( Money Transfer control number), so we think they did not send payment and delay the delivery time. so all my friends, please remember send MTCN to us once you pay through Western union. thank u .

Great News, Our new shipment to our just finish customs clearence, and it will be in our US warehouse before next weekend if everything goes well. I will change the price on our website and you can preorder the lights now, we will ship out once the new shipment arrive.

Thank you all my friends, excited moment, I can not help telling all of you . hahahaha:party:

Sara, do your Mars II lights use the same spectrum as the "old model" and "reflector" lights, or are they all different ones? I've heard people say the reflector lights and old model, look like they have more red in them than the Mars II. Sorry if this has been asked before :laughtwo:

All the lights are making has the same spectrum ratio.
