Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

thanks for your help KJC:)
While it is possible the plant in the photograph may have been light burned by proximity to the LED light panel at a younger age it is more likely a magnesium deficiency. Which LED light panel was used and how far above the plants was it positioned? Plants grown under LED light panels have a higher demand for calcium and magnesium. I would suggest using a calcium and magnesium supplement. I use Botnaicare's Cal-Mag Plus as a calcium and magnesium supplement.

I would introduce a calcium and magnesium supplement containing calcium nitrate and magnesium nitrate Such as Botanicare's Cal-Mag Plus after 2 good weeks of vegetative growth from a seedling. Cal-Mag Plus and CaliMagic are synthetic calcium and magnesium supplements. If you are using a natural source of calcium and magnesium based calcium and magnesium supplement such as General Organics CaMg+ you can start to add at the start of vegetative growth. I use Botanicare's Cal-Mag Plus at 5 milliliters or 1 teaspoon per gallon as a calcium and magnesium supplement for the majority of my cannabis plants.

thank you GF, I have asked that grower to read here, I believe he will email me back and I can post here:)
Which light is he running?
How close to the plants is the light?
What's the room temp?
Is the medium soil or soilless?

These are a few questions that will help simplify their issue. I would recommend him to this thread and mention there are dozens of growers w a mars/reflector and growing fine with no disrespect towards him.

I&I

He may have grown a long time and may have grown w led before but if it's the first w your company I would go as far as saying the light is more powerful making plant use more energy. His plant looked to be doing fine, did he just throw the light on it?

Side note, I don't know any long time grower that's used chicken. Wire. So hard to give advise to any grower w/o them thinking your attacking so I'd leave that alone

Is there anyone can tell me whats wrong with this plants? grower told me that caused by our light, I do not think so. so if you can help me, I am very grateful. thank you friends here.

Yes. The light technically causes these problems lol. I agree with the others on Magnesium. The LED lights are more intense and efficient than other lights, so since the plant has more light available, it will use more nutrients, and it can cause deficiencies people are not used to seeing.

Seeing these problems is a sign that the light is working and doing what it is supposed to do.

:thanks: antics, I will let him know:)

Thank you very much antics:)))))
Thanks Sara, I had the old site saved so I kept going to that one. I edited my post and put the new website link there. :high-five:

i have some girls going now and have some of the same signs as the picture shows
i follow you folks here and have already started adding extra mag and cal
i trust you all
what i want to add is that i too have grown before
not with led (used cfl) and must learn to use them, it is quite the different experience
i do what i have before but adjust as i go, i think i started with mine too close
and now have adjusted them, i ignore the old leaves and watch my new growth
what was before is not always applicable to now
for instance if you grow with soil for years then switch to dwc...you must learn
also i think some strains react differently to led
more adjustment ,you know the old saying...some like it hot... well some do not
it is proven by many members that led will work
it is up to us to perfect the process in our own environment
take care and good luck

Well said yuyo

Hey all. This is my plant Sara has posted. I was using the older 100x 3w light. I've have only used mh and hps in the past. After a ton of resource I went with this light. I should've got the mars or reflector but this tent is 3' X 2' and figured this light would fit perfect. This is my autoflower tent I do regs in another. Don't ask why but autos fascinate me lol. My first grow with this light they both got light bleached like crazy with the light 18" away after a 4 week veg with cfls. So this grow I cut 2 cotton candy clones to run the same time. After a 4 week veg with my mh I put one under hps and the other under this 100x3w led. After one week all the new growth was bleached with the light 30" from the top canopy. I added gh can mag every other water with gh fluronova veg nutes plus added zinc. Both plants where run the same side by side and the bleaching still happened. I've asked sara to swap my light for a 48x3w reflector (I'll pay shipping) but she posted my pics on here and is saying it's a nutrient issue. I can assure you its the light not my lack of nutrients.. Mind you the pictures sara posted where after I put the bleached plant under the hps for 5 days so the new growth is green again

That is what I was taught years ago. It's worked great for the past 3 years for me. Every grower I know laughed at me when I said I got an led to try. I wanted it to work in the worst way believe me just to shut them up. I went with the wrong led from Sara. Shouldve got the 400w mars but went with the old 100x3w. I'll stick with hps lol

Other people who have purchased the old model LED light panels are having success with them. I would feed your plant nutrients and full strength calcium and magnesium every time you water if you are able. I am having good success using LED light panels and feeding 1/2-3/4 strength nutrient that I would use under High Pressure Sodium lights every time I water unless I am flushing. You could purchase an inexpensive light meter and determine at what height and lumen level your plant can tolerate with your LED light panel.

i was in the same boat as you brock. however i have successful pulled off a 1600w grow with a mars light and the hps growers that taught me still wont make the leap. thats a uphill battle that i decided wasnt worth my time. but when i can grow this (pic below) my second time ever growing 100% on my own (not counting the help from 420mag including kingjohnc) and my first time growing with a led.

i read up that led use more energy and nutes then hps and i ran a Super hps hortilux my first grow 100% on my own. i have been adding calcium and magnesium to my feed to help this issue. i was lucky enough to have my first led grow work out for me. i wouldnt give up as quick if i were you. at the very least, hang around and check out what others are able to do with a led. it may just rebuild your confidence in leds.

i am not sponsored or a sales rep for any company. im just a small town grower trying to learn more about lights, nutes, training, and everything else related to the plant.

hope everything goes well for ya brock.

Edit : forgot to add pic

I initially burned two clones with my mars 400. My fault I should of babied them for awhile. The clones were under cfls initially, and I put em about 2.5 feet away and wasn't enough. I would go 3 feet away or more until plants are acclimated to led environment.
Once established, I have tops 6" away and flourishing. I hope this helps. :goodluck:
