Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Hello All/Sara.

It's been awhile since I've posted so just wanted to give a shout out. Brief update, I have a 2x2x5 Jardin Tent with currently 3 plants. I started out with Seven, culled two fairly fast, had 5 for awhile, then weeded out another tall lanky one that was almost for sure a male. This left me with 4. I currently have three, one plant was showing early signs of being a male and I was running out of space so it had to go. Currently, three females, I'll keep a close out for changes tho', you never know, but these three SHOULD be good to go. I normally use femmed seeds from the tude', but long story short, had some issues so no go. The tude' folks are awesome, great customer service. Back on track, damn GSC's (yummy), these girls have only been under LED since germination(think of me Sarah :) I'd love another light, my wife might not approve, but my conviction knows no bounds). Now, for this excellent light, I really can't say enough about the Mars II 400. I get over an inch of growth a day in Veg, I can only imagine how fast these baby's are going to take off in bloom. Alright, so I fimmed them twice, in the first 30 days, they were growing out of control, no joke. After FIM, nothing but LST training. I've been keeping them right around 12-13 inches, kind of crazy to see a plant almost 2 months old(52 Days from Germ, today is day 53), and it's so short. Currently, all plants right around 15 - 16 inches give or take. Normally, this plant would be crazy tall, but I just don't have the height. The smart pot, 10", the light and carbon filter, might as well be another 8- 10" lost. I'm looking for right around 32" total when stretch is over. It's going to be tight in there no doubt. Next run, I'm going to do one monster under the scrog net that came with the tent. Anyway, I just gave them a feeding today and they were flipped last night(cycle didn't start until today for flowering). They had 19 hours of darkness to compensate for light cycle time change. Yesterday, I measured all the plants, they were 13-14 inches, today, with 19 hr darkness, they were 15- almost 17" some of the nodes. I also wanted to say that once the plants are used to this bright LED, they can get pretty close. They are right around 8- 9 inches away from light with no ill effects whatsoever. It's so amazing to watch this stretch, I'm sure i'll have to train more during these next two to three weeks. I've grown for 15 plus years and I still get giddy watching them blow up with explosive growth. Cool Stuff. Thank you Sara, and definitely keep me in mind for that gift, nothing but MARS 400 growth here :). And nothing beats pictures, so enjoy.

Nice Pic of the nodes. If you have never FIM'd before, don't freak out with the wierd looking leafs from giving them a flat top hair cut. After FIM, should look like this.

thank you Dan, you make me want to grow some , haha. :) hope to move to remote area, then grow some myself. :circle-of-love:
OK I'll put my hat in the ring for beta testing the new lights. I'm about to germinate a new set of seeds that I could do a journal with. But if it came to a choice between a christmas present and a beta tester I would have to take the present. With the beta tester I might then want to convert to the new light and I already have a good investment in Mars ll's. Of course I wouldn't be fool enough to refuse both, LOL. But since I have already told Sara to give the presents to newbie growers who have less than I. I'll just have to hope I have some chance as a beta tester. I am very, very happy with my Mars ll 400W lamps and am grateful that I found this company and this site. I'll continue to post pic's as a newbie grower to show the learning curve. Thank you all. Dan.

thanks SmokeSara you can follow my growth journal First Indoor Grow From Down Under peace plus how much for a vege spec led light shipped to aus and which would you recommend for clones and straight vege thanks :peace::Namaste:

We ship from China to Australia is really really expensive. our reflector light is good for vege plants, I saw a lot people use our reflector to grow vege plants and clones, so you can also do the same.

Hello Johnnie, long time no see, how are you ? I read all, thanks for the details:) keep you in mind for sure. :)

Some pics of my Revegging clones taken from late in flower outside. 3 in doc buds hi brix kit, the others in mineralized soil.

there has someone told me we should provide PAR information, is there someone can give some suggestions on how? how to provide that information, I do not want to provide fake information to lie to growers. so I would like to know what are you thinking, what do you think par information is, thank you all, I am waiting for your information here:)

Thanks for the concern sara. Not so long ago those were cut off my plants outside. The loss of color happened while rooting. The weird growth is due to being taken late in flowering, so they are re vegging. Both are good strains that I'd like to keep.

Edit: I'm waiting until they spread out a bit before I get rid of those leaves. No ugly part of these plants are because of your lights, I waited to long to take clones of the mazar and the other I had no other choice.

I am thinking how to make it. because I watched some video on youtube and I found if we use double lens, it will increase the PAR value, but it is only one point has high PAR, other places, lack of lights, plants can not grow well. besides, red and blue is not as bright as white, so if some company use more white in their light, it should has higher PAR. we can not avoid people compare the PAR information. From my thinking, I think higher lumens, higher PAR. if someone they their best to increast the center PAR to show to growers, that is not correct, coverage is too small. let me clear things, then find a fair way to show growers the right information.
I like how detailed and organized it is done by icemud's current lights company. However you do it, be truthful and upfront with it. My plants are loving the lights so far!

Dont they measure with a meter? Dont quote me on that, but I see a lot of these tests on Utube, and a lot of the growers here do tests to get readings. I dont understand what it all means though. As long as my plants grow I'm happy! LOL

:MoreNutes: :yummy:

I know someone will come along and tell you the right answer soon :hippy:

I believe that the PAR meter tests should be conducted in this way

1) A grid is laid out at 6" intervals from the center of the light and the PAR meter records the PAR levels at 6" intervals from the center of the grid for its recommended coverage area.

2) The PAR meter height is moved in 6" intervals from the LED light panel and the PAR meter levels are recorded.

That's why the grid is so useful. Take readings on a grid 6 inches apart, up to 24 inches off center. Take them at 12 inches, 18 inches, 24 inches and 36 inches (30cm/45cm/60cm/90cm) beneath the panel. It shows how well the panel spreads its PAR. Some panels have great PAR levels, but only in a small area directly under the panel.

3-D graphs also work well. :cheesygrinsmiley:

[Edit] Yeah, what KJC said. :cheesygrinsmiley:

This weekend I'll be harvesting my holy grail kush flux grown under the Mars II 400. I'll post some of the pics here for some of you to see what can be done with this light. Can't wait to see what the new light can do!

Our new shipment will arrive at US warehouse this weekend, but it seems our mars II 1600w will out of stock soon, some people preordered a lot from me:circle-of-love: so if you need only one or two, please order on our website ASAP, next next shipment will arrive at the end of next month.
