Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Mungo, I don't have the 3 watt so I can't comment on them but my Mars2 works better than my 4' 6 bulb t5.ho fixture because light intensity is greater on the lower branches. With t5's you lose a lot of usable light as soon as you get a few inches away from the bulbs. Like you said tho, everybody's different. I still use my t5's, but only when the plants are short.

That is interesting that the Mars 2 give good veg, might have to give that a go..

I will check for you when our factory open next tuesday:)
Sara do you know the speed on the fans, the RPM, and the CFM

this is an example of information I need .

Dimension 120 x 120 x 25
Air Flow 37 CFM
Noise 20.2 dBA
Speed 1000 RPM

I have replied all the emails, could you please check if u get my reply?
Hi SmokeSara, I sent you an email... need some help
kind regards

Thanks all for your help! Im looking into the mars 1200 full spectrum or the mars 1200 veg spectrum for veg. Is it really a big different on using the mars 1200 veg spectrum instead of the full spec? I using a 4x6 tent just for veg.

I can't speak to Mars, but I bought a Blackstar v2 180w (120w actual) "HO" light, which is their veg light. It was only my third grow. I didn't have much to compare to. But, holy cow! That plant was a monster. Leafy, deep green, bushy. I had to tie down stems because it was too large for my 2x4x4 tall tent. The guy at Gotham Hydro warned me, but I didn't listen. :) He said he prefers to veg under "full spectrum" (the red/blue light which would really be flower spectrum, but they call it "full spectrum") for more compact area.

That experience now has me wondering about the trend toward all-white grow lights. I've been looking at some grow journals using the Area-51 XGS light and those plants look a lot like that plant I vegged under the veg-specific light.

If you have a tall tent, I'd encourage you to try the veg-only light. I don't know if I'd compliment it with the "flower spectrum." Maybe use "full spetrum" as the flower light. That way if the "veg-only" doesn't work for you, at least you'd have the "full spectrum" light to use for veg and flower. You wouldn't be locked into dual-mode light. If you find the veg works for you, you could try a "flower spectrum" later to see how it compares to "full spectrum" in flower.

Oh,phlipper! can u email me? don't worry, i will try my best to help u!

Hi all!
As i thought, i was a simple act of administration. I was friendly and cooperative, and sended the paypal recipe - i had nothing else.
They charged the customs duty and taxes, summed up 64€/87$ (for Austria, i suppose similar for EU), payable at delivery. It only took one or two additional days for the delivery - 9 working days at whole, direct from China.

The conclusion looks to be: it's a gambling, if the invoiced value of goods seems inadequate then you'll get a notificaton.

If you are concerned at a contact of any departments, i'm sure you can manage it (in advance) with the customer service ;)

Btw: the Mars400W flower spec looks nice beside the two Reflectors96*3W, in my approx 1m2 closet

I just wanted to pop in for a minute after reading some of the post about veg'ing with the 3w reflectors. IMO they work amazingly well in veg. You only need the veg switch on and I have grown mammoth girls under them and you are all welcome to check my journal in my signature and see what both the 3w and the 5w Top Leds can do. I am currently veg'ing a OG Kush under a 48x3w and she is absolutely huge and her node spacing is perfect so if you are not getting good veg out of your Top Led you may need to check out why because they are very capable of doing the job.....:circle-of-love:

Hi Dennise,

Just looking at your pics... and your leaf tips are pointed down... this is a sign of a stressed plant, do you have yellowing of the leaves as well.. ?

If you look at the 2nd picture it looks like some of the leaves have dark green veins, and light green leaves, if this is the case, it could be a Zinc problem... as for the leaf curl , this could be a number of things, just making aware, as it will only get worst and effect your yield.

happy growing.

Hi Sara! First off, I just want to say thank you for providing such amazing customer service to the users in this forum. I have a couple of questions I'm hoping you can answer. This light will mainly be used for vegging. It is in a 5x5 grow tent. I already have 2 leds in there , 240w, and 180 watts , full spectrum from hgtsupply.com. The new light want to buy from you will supplement my existing two lights. Which watt do you recommend? Do you have any other lights that you sell that is not on the website that can be used specifically for veg? Also, are you still supplying the coupons you offered in the forum a long time ago?
Thank you so much!

I own a Mars 2 900 and so far so good, still on my first cycle with it about to go into bloom on my first organic soil grow (so far a greatly prefer DWC but I'll stick with this for a few grows). Anyway I've come to the conclusion that I really should have a veg light.

The Mars 2 900 is in a 4x4 tent and beside the fact that more light is usually better I think that will be good enough since it's supposedly good for a 4x4 area.

Now I need to price up a veg light and I'm looking at another LED vs a 2' T5. Generally I'm doing strains with about a 60 day flower time and I want to have nice bushes ready to throw into flower. I'm running only 4 plants now but I can see that going up to maybe 6 since I went ahead and bought a 6 pack of Air Pots.

Soooo the question is what size light should I be looking at LED wise to compare to the T5 light. I know the T5 will be cheaper and that's going to play a big role as I don't have much funds to throw into the project and just buy whatever I want. Since VEG is 18+ hours I'd certainly like to get an LED for that fact and for the lower heat, but I'm not sure I can afford a big enough one vs a T5 cost in the short term. I'm also not sure what difference a Mars 2 vs a Reflector would actually make and while the Mars 2 veg/blue would seem ideal I don't see me shelling out 280 more dollars for it.

What size Reflector of Mars 2 should I get to veg 4-6 plants for a 4x4 flower space lit by a Mars 2 900. Also for vegging will I see any improvement from the Mars 2 vs the reflector and are the veg (blue) Mars 2 worth all the extra money for veg. I know the Reflector has the toggle switch, but as I understand it all it does it toggle off the red lights which seems somewhat pointless since I generally don't want to buy a light and use it at half capacity.

Like I said unfortunately budget is a big concern here and the T5s at only about 100 bucks for a 4 bulb 2 footer seems like a good deal, though I'm not sure if I would need a light that big just for veg. They will have up to about 2 months to veg and I'm not sure the T5 will do that well once they bush out a little. Obviously I want short and stout plants. I've only ever vegged in an open space like that with HPS and have limited knowledge of what is going to work best as far as LED vs T5 or even CFL though most ppl seem to say T5 is better than CFL, which makes sense other than CFL could be placed in more creative spots, generally though I want to keep it simple.

In the end I just need a good veg light for the money that will be able to veg my plants for up to 2 months while the others flower. I like the idea of LEDs, but I don't have much of an opinion on them being better than HPS or T5 for the money. Heat is the main issue I went with an LED in my tent. The veg plants will just be out in the open in the same room as the tent since I cannot afford a better setup and the room will generally not have any AC since it's basically a giant walk in closet.

Hey Sara, this is crazy, never in my life I have been treated this well by any company like yours.
I ordered my panel on 29th of May very late evening, around 8pm UK time, got a confirmation e-mail that it is processing and will receive another e-mail with tracking number when it ships. Today I opened website to check up on my order, it shows it's still in process. And to my surprise this panel just arrived 12:55 pm. I am very happy with this service. I wish all the best to you and Top Leds and hope you will conquer LED market. Ok. time to unpack my new toy.
Peace :peace:

She did have a cal/mag def. Mungo but I am now giving her cal/mag and she has turned around. It was much worse before. I had used Berger BM1 Medium not realizing it did not have gardening lime in it to adjust for pH and deliver calcium until it was very evident in the OG. She has now had 2 doses of the cal/mag and the difference is amazing and FedEx just left this very minute delivering my bale of ProMix HP so hopefully I will not have this problem in the future. Her comeback was amazing though and I do attribute part of that on the Top Led lights. LED lights seem to need a bit more cal/mag than soil anyhow and when you don't give them any at all it doesn't work out well but recovery has been 100%. Thank you for taking the time to point out what you saw. It is greatly appreciated but I think it is covered this time......:circle-of-love:
