Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

Hi martians!

We built a box for our grow (and subsequently christened it "medoefsabox" - sort of a play on medusa, just 1 look and stone etc... And "doef" the sound productivity makes as it falls to the ground n dies!)

Anyways, new growers here. I build the box and the wife tends to the babies. That's the arrangement... We live in sunny South Africa. So temperatures can be a problem, unfortunately the place we got a lot of our gear from sold us a MH / HPS setup with a wing reflector. This resulted in higher than wanted temperatures (about 12 degrees more than outside the box - cries)

So it is time to join the green-a-lution! Looking at acquiring a SP-250 for the box. But need some input first as it's quite an investment (postage is almost more than the light for us!! :'(

1. What's the outer length of the light. I see the official numbers state 109cm is this accurate?

2. If I put the driver outside the box, what kind of noise levels will it have? Comparison to a 600w ballast? It says no fan but I'm just assuming that excludes the driver? As most lights have fans for the light part as well etc.

3. What kind of temperature increase we looking at from room temp (say 26 degrees c)

May the puffs be forever favourable

S

(The HPS makes taking photos very lame...)
Hi SugaSlide, thanks for stopping by. HPS can be a heat devil in your country, I can imagine. So here is my answer for you below: :circle-of-love:
- The actual length of the SP 250 is 105cm, including package, itis 109cm long. But you'd better leave some space between the light and the edge of your grow box.
- The light is no fan design, there is no anything on the light that will make noise, so it will be 0db always. :surf:
- our light will increase the whole temperature around 5 degrees C, if no cooling system used, if you are using the cooling system right, the temperature can be very cool to use. :surf:
If you have any more further question, don't hesitate to ask. ;)

Thank you. I'm guessing the box being 114cm is cutting it a bit fine?
on the heat issue. i run 2 TSL-2000 and the heat is minimal except for if you touch the driver itself. I only use exhaust fans for humidity and smell as the lights dont need cooling in my loft space above the light. In a box as suggested by salt , the panel itself is touchable without any discomfort so minimal heat from the diodes. hope that helps. not sure with the sp heats though , sorry.

Howdy Fellow Marsians ,and mortals considering joining the Elite, Here is possibly my last update before harvest figures and full on dried bud porn. Besides humidity issues and my lapse growroom hygiene, all has been flying with these tsl2000's. rhe buds are stone hard and i cannot emphasise that enough , i mean solid and will not shrink when dried ,hard. where i have had light , there are great looking buds and small ones too that are solid. My experiment with leaving a little more on for defol has cost higher buds for sure and i now know that with these lights to concentrate more on upper penetration. I will be adding an sp250 to the middle so i can spread the footprint more and get a little deeper into the canopy from above with one of these . I have loved my experience of the 1st use and cannot wait till mid sept to go from seed to harvest with the auto run . Brilliant products Mars Hydro and an amazing rep showing a genuine interest is invaluable. Thanks Sara
Heres my girls with yesterday ( with 2 removed for dark period now) and now about to start their slow harvest week.

Order done! Va va vrooooom!

So today, we are here to throw a question out. :D

What is the difference between Mars Reflector and Mars TS? :lot-o-toke:

I give you one clue: ;)

- The reflector cup design is different, :surf: Mars TS only uses a reflector cycle design to help the light output will be reflector back to the coverage we want to cover. While the Mars Reflector uses reflector cup design on each led chips, which will help with each led's output and coverage, and help with the spectrum mix more balanced. :hookah:

Welcome to share more of your idea on the difference between Mars TS and Mars Reflector here. :D

Like 3 ducks in a row. LoL
