Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

So after seeing how many diodes have melted at the rate in which they have, there is NO WAY these panels will live out their rated lifespan. And here's a bigger problem for me, I have 6 more 1600's in use that are a few months newer and I noticed a few burnouts already showing on them as well. So now what, do I have to order a bunch of diodes to solder on myself. If anyone sees this post and are considering buying these lights, DO NOT DO IT!! they are cheap and will not last. I spent about $6000 Canadian on them and I feel that I just got totally ripped off. I will post some pics soon.

seems strange to have problems with 7 lights, were they all bought at the same time? Have you had your electric panel checked for a bad ground? Do you use a surge protector to plug them into?

Not all bought at the same time. Older ones which I use only for veg have the most burnt or melted LED's, newer ones bought in Oct. have only a few LED's burnt and not on every panel. Surge protector...no they are on a 220v power panel with individual 15amp breakers.

I have only had my Mars ll 1200 for about 3 maybe 4 months and so far it has proven it can grow some great nugs. I hope it will last at least 2 years because I can't really afford to have to get another. I have seen a mix of post from people saying they have had there's for years and never had problems then those who say they had there light for a few months the and it took a huge shit. All I can say is so far so good. They are a good light for a fair price

I have 11 of there lights and been running most over 2 years now. I have had a few leds burn out, but easily replaced. I think you really have to watch grow room temps when running led, I have had most of my problem when grow room goes above 85 deg., But I believe they grow better bud at 82-83 deg.:volcano-smiley:

I don't mind replacing LED's, as long as it's not too often. I'm more worried about it being a fire hazard. My rooms are staying around 85 deg. or less.

I don't believe there is any fire danger since they are all contained in a steel case. It is a good ideal to clean every so often also, the blades on the fans get dirty and cut airflow through heat sink way back, which will cause the chips to run hotter than they should. Every time I empty a table now I pull my lights apart and clean fans, heat sinks and inside and now I replace a few leds at same time.:volcano-smiley:

No pics of the carnage? I want to see these "melted" lights.
No problem with my one Mars 2 light. Do you guys run UPS or at least surge protection? Otherwise might take a beating in storms power surges...
All my leds are on a UPS to keep the power nice and clean

After a couple years of continues use I expect to replace a few parts but have never had any melt, Have 2 burnt out blues I replaced this morning, I can show you pictures in the morning if you like and its normally the blue that burn out. A very good value light and they do grow good bud, that's in my grow journal. Jarred 4 qt. jars this morning to start cure.:thumb::volcano-smiley:

Hey thanks for mentioning about cleaning the fans I never thought of the vans lol. The glass over the leds I thought about. I am scared to take my Mars ll 1200 apart. I repair phones for a living so I would think I can handle it. Thanks

I bought the pro epistar 160.. I'm hoping I don't have any issues with it. It was pretty expensive ! I love the remote tho!! . The panel runs very cool ..
I have read alot on here that people are saying to stick to the reflector series over the mars 2 series. Aparenlty alot less issues with reflectors series

Hi Explorer... I just talked to Sara and she is tied up with a customer and seeing that it is Saturday there... :sorry: That is my falult... I forgot what day it is but she is dealing with another customer that FedEx has messed up and will be here just as soon as possible... ok, I just off the phone with my another Canada friend who is very friendly and we are doing business. he would like to help us to find the right repair center. and We also asked our Alberta solo agent to ask if he can help us on repairing . we really hoped we can find a Chinese man in Canada who can help, but failed, so we are trying some other way. hope We can get the final decision ASAP. We are eager to have a on Canada repair center to help our friends also .

As to the fire problem, We would like to state again. We are using anti-fire material, so no fire problems and we have tested ourself with 300C temperature. no fire problem, so if you guys only have 85 F, it will not have problem, please do not worry.

We will give more information about this next Monday when we have more information from Canada.

Have a nice weekend all my friends.
