Mars-Hydro LED Grow Light Discussion

I'll give you a different answer here than you may expect but from what I understand it is better to run with both switches in veg. The reasoning behind this is that the plants not having enough red spectrum during the vegetative phase will affect the yield when the plants are flipped into flowering. There is at least one good write up on 420Magazine regarding this that I know of and probably more, tried and tested scientifically elsewhere. The veg only spectrum is great for seedlings but once past that stage they need the full spectrum or you will have problems gaining a good yield. I'm busy at the moment and can't remember where the write up was but it was quite conclusive, I'll try and find it later. It's about time that I started blogging all these nuggets of info. All the best :thumb:

OK so turn on both switches. The light is so bright with just the veg with both holy smokes. I am going to leave it at 30 Inches for a few more days because of turning on both veg and bloom

I have my Cree128 about 30" above seedlings. It is running at 80% at 16/8 hours. Using Temp Laser Gun the temperature on the leaves is 78%.

So you think I should lower a little? My girls are about 1 1/2 weeks in veg

I would like to tell you the answer but this is my first time with Leds. Someone here with more knowledge will tell you soon. Lol..

just drop your mars 2 1200 to 24" now. I don't see a point to keeping it higher than that ever unless they're baby seedlings or you're trying to cover a footprint larger than 3x3. 30" is wasting time and energy

OK Versai I am going to drop it to 24inches. Mars website says 24-30. I have my old mars 60x5 300w about 18 inches from my King Louie in flower. So I would think your right I should be ok at 24. How long will it take for them to show if it's to close?

It won't be too close at 24". At least, the light won't ever burn them at that height. But the extra energy will increase their metabolism so you might have to water or feed more if they show deficiencies, which would appear within a couple days of the change.

Just harvested another ThunderHaze Auto grown under a mars reflector 144x5 :circle-of-love: love all my Mars LED panels

That would be for the Old Model LED panel which are genuine mars panels but have only recently been removed from their website, tbh if you are looking at buying 3 i would pool that money and step up to at least the MarsII panels and spend your money more wisely on 1 panel that will fill your space, new panels are more efficient and have a more complete spectrum using a more powerful LED.

Dunno if I already asked this or not, but would it be best to go with just a single big light or multiple small lights?
It will be a max of 4 buckets in a 4x4 tent, still trying to decide if I wanna go and try my luck on hydro or just try soil again
I have tried the soil when my son in law and I planted in the back yard this last summer, and I learned about not adding miracle grow to them, lost 2 and had to pull the last 4 early due to almost dead on flowering.

If I do hydro, I am going to go ahead and do a homemade system and just start with one bucket and a clone.

Oh and thanx for the pointers on the lights gonna go ahead and get the Mars II instead.

:thumb: :thanks:

I have a question for SmokeSara, OK I am new here so don't know if this was ever asked but cant find any info either,
On Amazon, ya have listed a 300w light for only 89.99, now they are not listed on your site, so is this a legitimate site or are these just closeouts?
Wanted to buy 3 of them for a 4x4 or possibly a 5x5 but wanna make sure these are fakes.
Thanx for the info!!
Old models. I ordered none from thier eBay store a few days ago for $68 with free shipping. I'm in a 2x2 foot area for veg. and 2x2 for flower. I'm going to use one for veg. Was going to try 2 for flower but think I'll spend some more and get the mars II 400 watt for my flowering. It adds more red and IR better for the flowering. Just finished my space out with mylar today. Waiting on the lights.

Light is lowered to 24 Inches. I'll post a update on how they like it. I also have the veg and bloom on. I was told the red will help them stretch a little and ssets you up for a better flower.

:kiss:it's so cute:hugs: I would never get tired of watching it for all day if it was beside me. :circle-of-love:

:laugh:haha, randy, they are just not perfect for all... but I admit they could have been more user-friendly. :slide: We are keeping improving it. :Namaste:
Engineers think it's better to spend months too make their ideas work than to say they are wrong and start over.

So I have heard growing under LEDs is different when it comes to feeding your plants. I water everyday with Nutes at about ppm of 500-600 with ph going from 5.5-5.9. Should I keep watering and feeding the same or should I lighten up a little because they might not need as much because they are under a led instead of a MH

:circle-of-love: Hello BlazingBill, we have store on Amazon and we don't list the old model at our website because we couldn't give the old model the same guarentee as our MarsII and Reflector series.:Namaste: 3pcs 300w will not be able to cover 4'x4' area, I am afraid.:slide: BlazingBill, you can have a look at our MarsII1600 or 4pcs MarsII400. Both the options will be able to cover 4'x4'. :circle-of-love:
