Ok, I did it … trimmed anything that may have turned into larf from the bottom third; hells bells - I think I actually took the entire bottom third! But that also included stuff that was growing up in the center. (I didn't defoliate anything from the top yet, I was worried because what I took actually amounted at about 1/3 of a kitchen trash bag - the top center will be tomorrow and only a few leaves each day over the next few days).
Unfortunately now her top looks ROUGH; hopefully by tomorrow she won’t look so bad. Also a pic of a bit of root porn for ya’ll.
Now, as for what I’ve done different this time around vs last is this:
- I used Rapid Start rooting enhancer this time, but I didnt just use it in the beginning - I think I actually used it for the first full 8 weeks; only recently stopped adding it to her nute mix. I think this helped strengthen her root mass and thus helped her growth
- I made use of the drip ring long after her roots hit the water; I think that by doing this, the rooting hormones, hydroguard, and beneficial bacteria all got distributed throughout the root mass - not just at the bottom where in the water. I know this *shouldn't* matter because everything goes up *through* the roots, but well, thats my guess on the matter.
- That second point plays into when I’ve been having to add her daily gallon of nute mix because she’s drinking so much. I haven’t been lifting the lid and adding it to the res … just been dumping it straight at the base of the plant and letting it go through the hydroton into the res.
So there you have it; just a few things I did differently this go around that I wonder if they’ve made a positive impact. OBVIOUSLY her
@Mars Hydro FC-3000 is responsible for (I believe) most of it - but every little bit helps!
