Mars-Hydro DWC 1 Plant 4x4 Scrog

Thanks for stopping in @Farmer Reading

How the weather over your way; typical winter day for me gloomy gray overcast with temperature in saying around -2c.

I have been reading one or two of your journals nice work.

I started making the top for my container to hold the net up (larger opening).

Measurements are close enough for what I am doing. Now I have to cut the holes; if I can find my jig saw blade.

The last image is the candidate for this test grow:

1. Seedsman - White Widow - Regular seed - Status staring to may an appearance.

2. HSO - Green Crack - Fem. seed - Status in water

3. HSO - OGKZ - OG Zkittlez - Fem. seed - Status in water

More information to follow on strain, once I decided which one to go with.

I am using a couple Humboldt strains, because I have an excess, so they will work for this grow.

There are beautiful blankets of snow cascading the winter landscape in my little piece of Appalachia in many ways it looks much more aesthetic than the often heavy snows I experienced while residing in Chicago.

Thanks a lot for the compliments. As I follow more journals it seems like my learning curve is widening instead of narrowing. Hopefully, my studio will be completed fairly shortly. Plan to use my own soil blends with indoor grows, so pretty stoked. I have some clones as ginny pigs for the soil.

Forgot to mention in my last post to compliment your ingenuity. Love the use of the heat lamps.
Back in my pig/hog raising days we used those bad boys to provide heat for piglets between the ages of zero to three weeks.

I have one in the basement, which I may use if redispatching my 92 Watt COBS are in order.

Look forward to following your grow from the beginning.

got room for another?
I have plenty of room I just rented a 10,000 sq. ft. room, so everyone is socially distance. Glad to have all the experienced growers that would like to tab along. The recliners are still empty.

Great selection of seeds

I was a test grower for a couple years and have a decent amount & selection of HSO, Dinafem and a couple others.
Not many seed companies are using test growers anymore, at least I haven't found any new ones.

use of the heat lamps.

Thank you, @Farmer Reading, but the light that looks light a heat lamp is actually a led grow light bulb. I run it 24 on during veg and you can still touch it with your hand.

Wow. I don't keep track of my journal for one day and it is already 7 pages deep.

Anyways, I have been busy working on my bathroom remodel and still getting supply's

This is where I am on my bucket.

Glad to see I'm not the only one using plywood lids. It sure does help come LST time, using hooks.

Looking forward to your build!

I didn’t know you were a test grower Tok. Fascinating! That sounds like an awesome job!

What sorts of setups would you run? Did you always run hydro or did you do soil too?

Regarding Dinafem and HBS. I looked into this a while back when I went to order some seeds and couldn’t. Apparently the Spanish Medicines Agency mandated the Guardia Civil to carry out an operation to basically shut down and investigate Humboldt Seeds, Dinafem and Mora seed banks, bringing into question legality of Marijuana in Spain all together. Good to see they have their priorities in order. It’s not as if there are more pressing things going on in the world right now....

I forgot to ask, what’s the plan with this? This looks interesting.

The plant is suspended from the board on top of the larger black bucket with the roots in the yellow one with your nutrient solution, so you can just swap them out? And you have the screen attached to the board? ...Is this so you can lift the lid and the screen at the same time, making res changes possible.....that’s just blown my mind!

using plywood lids
Many people make growing harder than it needs to be, I just keep it simple (KIS) and think about the cheapest most economical way of doing things.

what’s the plan with this?

Once it is ready the net pot will fit inside a hole in the center of the top. The yellow bucket was just for comparison. I figure will need to make 8 to 8 1/2 gallons of solution every week when doing a solution change. Not very much compared to a RDWC system.

Once, the selected strain is picked; I will probably veg in a 5 gallon bucket and change to the large container for flowering. I use three 2x4 air cylinders for a 5 gal. bucket, I will be putting four in the flower bucket controlled by a
285GPH Air Pump 4 Outlets. Nothing fancy, but it works for me.

I will update more later, I need to get back to laying a floor.

It was a job for the seed companies is was about exposure, results, and feedback. Mainly to show individuals how t increase their yield.

When I was growing it was normally up to the seed companies or product companies.

I have completed GG sorry Gorilla Grows, soil grows in pots, but mostly in DWC under a scrog net. Basically, helping other grows work their way through problem while growing. I try not to give out too much information, just lead in the right direction.

After 25 years on the flight deck of aircraft carriers, I find that people learn and retain best during on the job training.

I'm very grateful that you stumbled up on my journal Tok :Namaste: Your input and experience has been very much appreciated, and very valuable.

I got a break after I connected my washer and dryer.

I did a fill and enough test: the bucket will require 7 gallons of water to filled it to the rig or bottom of handles rig.

For 7 gallons of water it will take approximately 7 minutes to bring it down to about 1 quart level for flushing.

Also, to answer your question before you ask it: Yes, the pump will remain in the bucket during the whole time the plant is in the large bucket.

Take a look and tell me what you think?

Looking good @Tokin Roll. Lots of room for a nice big root ball in there!

Great idea to keep the pump in there the whole time, for convenience. I wondered how you were going to handle emptying the system. I guess to fill it up you will just pump new solution into the bucket?

:hmmmm: well this is gonna be a learning curve for me but by the time I get my next batch going I think I will have the dwc thing figured out,
I have only been doing DWC for a few years or so, and the three most important things I can tell you is:

1. You have to know what is going on with your bucket. temp, ph, ppm's are a good start.

2. With DWC/ Hydro period you can loose a plant allot quicker than most other mediums; so patience plays a key part
of success. Pay attention to the leaf development.

3. Just because I listed this third, does not mean that if you are not aware of your tent/grow area environment it will terminate your little lady just as fast.

Nutrients play a part when needed, but like I said when needed.

Well we have lift off on Green Crack. This strain is part of my private stock. I enjoy this strain any time of the day, but most would say it an early day smoke.

Green Crack F/F
Genotype 60% Sativa / 40% Indica
THC 18%
CBD 0.1%
Indoor flowering 60–65 days
Indoor yield 10–15+ oz/yd2
Outdoor yield 35–106+ oz/plant
Outdoor height 3–10+ ft

This isn’t the first time I had Green Crack in the pot, and slowly becoming one of my favorites. She's easy to grow, doesn't need much attention, and produces good and abundant weed in record time. It is important to emphasize her 'FAST' nature, which makes her a successful crop in any climate or environment. Her speed hinders possible fungus or pest attacks, and guarantees first-class results.

She develops into mid-sized plants with Sativa-looking leaves and internodes; her branches are long and her elongated leaves are quite sparse. This morphology allows for optimum growth as the plant is exposed to plenty of air and light while she's growing. Her abundant crops, full of healthy, extremely aromatic, bulky and sticky buds, are always reason for joy.

Fast Flowering Green Crack makes her presence felt wherever she is. She always takes center stage in any garden with her sassy, enveloping aroma that reaches deep. But this doesn't only occur while she's growing… when you taste her, a flavorful tidal wave invades your palate, producing great pleasure. Her relaxing and balanced effect due to her high THC levels (of up to 18%) is also worthy of mention due to its effectiveness in alleviating stress and tension.

Green Crack is a cannabis seed of distant origins that comes from a 1989 SSSC Skunk#1and an isolated Afghani cut. The result is a beautiful marijuana plant that grows very vigorously and that boasts amazing stability. Its structure, which reminds of a Christmas tree, is home to impressive amounts of buds. Resistant to mold and pests, it requires a short growing period indoors and responds best to dry, warm, sunny, temperate.

Great overall qualities

Green Crack is a cannabis hybrid with an aroma of exotic fruit and a flavor of citrus fruit, mango, pineapple, cedar and incense. It provides a pleasant, powerful, long-lasting, cerebral, invigorating, euphoric effect that true Skunk lovers will definitely enjoy.

I will post some images a little later.
