Mars-Hydro DWC 1 Plant 4x4 Scrog

Mites are a pain in the ass... at least they aren't spider mites they spin webs all over the plant.

hey tok ... hope the battle goes well.

are you still in veg while battling mites ? add a hotshot in if you can isolate her in a tent. it will halve the time it takes to get control of the mites, it'll decimate the movers, leaving the eggs, which will get killed off as they emerge. continue with the heat and neem treatment while doing so. a multi prong approach works best.

discontinue use of the hotshot in flower.

Thank you for stopping by @bluter

To answer your question, yes I am still in veg. was going to induce flower in two weeks we'll see.

The research I have done indicates a 50/50 chance of eliminating them completely before I flip.

The neem oil is pretty standard treatment, but not totally effective for elimination.

Using heat can damage your plant so care must be used for this. Temperature above 91degrees or 32. Celsius for 60 to 90 minutes.
If the temperature is higher than 32. Celsius time must be reduced.

Current images of back up and Impatience after treatment.

Back to wiping down the tent again.

I'm back with a current update, a few things have been happening today.

I gave Impatience a second heat treatment this morning. She took the first one very well, the second one I hope will doubled the chances of success and because as soon as she recovers she going into flower.

I harvest May because Impatience would not wait any longer. May was not what one would call a bumper crop, I figure died she should come out too about 4 or so ounces.

Right now, I have my heater in the tent to eliminate any chances of Broad Mites in there before I clean it, and get the tent ready for the next occupant.

I'll post some images a little later.

Thanks for stopping by @Dusty Kiefers

Was not able too do the update last night so here goes.

Impatience has made a 100% come back after treatment for Broad Mites.

I also placed here in flower and under the scrog net. I will elaborate in detail shortly with images.

Overall, I am confident that the treatment she received may of slowed her down, but will see. Now that she has been placed in flowering stage, I hope the fun begins.

There will be a few parts to this update.

First, are some images after she received her second heat treatment, and any old effective (Broad Mites or heat) leaves were remove. Images are from June 10.

This is my approach to Broad Mite infestation. If you don't know anything about them, let me just say most of the time it is a death sentence for your lady.

Broad Mites detection:

How I became a where of the issue of Broad Mites.
  • New growth disfigured
  • Large swings in PH
  • Deformed Leaves, all levels new, middle and old growth.
  • Growth seems to slow down.
  • Curling of some leaves indicating a PH issue. Only a couple minor ones on mine.
  • Shining film on some leaves not all. By this time the Broad Mites are establish.
  • Droopy leaves.
Treatment:

There are a number of ways to treat for Broad Mites, but none address the issue in Hydro. This treatment should only be done in veg.

Yes, you can get Broad Mites in Hydro often delivered by flying insect, exposure transferred from garden plant or garden center plants, poor exhaust ventilation raising temp and humidity (it helps, but not by itself), pets transfer and many other ways. .

The method I used is threefold.

  • First, prune all noticeable infected leaves, distorted, mutation, shiny, or anything else that showed the above signs.

  • Second, Neem Oil treatment before at lights out, the day before heat treatment.

  • Third, this requires attention or you will fry your plant.
To expose her to high temperature (32. C and above) level with low humidity (20-45%) for min.60 to max. 90 minutes. Only if you can maintain a constant temperature of 32c. In the attempt to cook them where they stand or lay.

If temperature is between 32 and 35 c reduce time down to 30 to 45 minutes, but keep a close eye on her and rotate her if you are using an oil heater for your heat source. The whole room temperature doesn’t have to be raised, just the area around the plant. Make sure you have a couple hygrometer for temp and humidity. One located under the canopy and one above the canopy.

After this treatment, just pamper her with a fresh mild solution change, ph’d from 5.5 to 5.8 for the uptake of cal-mag.

Then just wait for signs of new growth.

Since, I had planed on putting her in flower shortly after recover; I decided too do a second heat treatment.
This time without Neem Oil treatment.

After that, I allowed three day of recovery and prepared her to go into flower.

If you have the time, allow about two to three weeks for her to recover completely, or it will extend you flower period.

Results: A little worse for wear, but I expect her to fully recover. Currently she is showing new growth with no signs of deformity, good color, firm and not limp leaf structure, and overall, just a happy plant.

Conclusion: As long as care is taken during this treatment; it is possible to eliminate Broad Mites.

Tok..
