Malawi, Golden Tiger, Wild Thailand & Apple Betty From Herbies Seeds

Day 15 of 69...

Yesterdays feed was .5g of Bud Explosion plus 6g of MC in 4L of water.

Must say, the fan controller was the best $25 I've spent in a while ;)

Temps are within 3 degrees without my intervention and it's a Joy to walk into the room and see a digital readout of the current temperature !

The Girls are Happy and so am I :yahoo:

Did what is likely the last trimming of lower branches yesterday.

Stretch continues @ 1"/day, the Malawi is now taller than the Golden Tiger and Wild Thailand. The Apple Betty is six inches higher than the rest and if she continues I may have to tie her down ;)

The Girls came out for their first photo shoot last night ! Too much Lambs Bread though, didn't realize the lighting wasn't quite right until I got the images on the computer :bongrip: Oh well !

You've got them all looking really nice!

Day 17 of 71..

Growth continues @ ~1"/day.

Pictures are before watering, last feed/watering was 3 days ago...

Feed tonight was 1g of Bud Explosion and 6g of MC per 4/L, slightly below MC feed chart.

The Wild Thailand has spread herself out to over 30" wide so I've tied her out lying branches together to bring her back in line ;)

Lights on temps are 78 - 81F and lights off are 77F, rh is in the low 40's.

Day 20 of 74

Stretching seems to have slowed down, a bit ;)

Three days growth per strain, from +3" to...

Malawi 2"
Apple Betty 1 1/2"
Wild Thailand 2"
Golden Tiger 2 1/2"

Once again I've decided to discontinue the use of Bud Explosion. The new growth leaves are slightly crooked and twisted. Nothing major but just doesn't look quite right to me...

Feed is now 6.5g/4L of MC and for the first time this grow I've raised the lights ~ 6".

Day 23 of 77....

Stretch has slowed, 3 days growth per strain >

Malawi 1/2"
Apple Betty 1"
Wild Thailand 0"
Golden Tiger 0"

Apple Betty may get her tallest branches snipped in a week ;)

Normally I would tie them down but I want to see how Big/Long the buds can get with back building, he, he..

Feed is still @ 6.5g/4L but Apple Betty looks like she could use a little more.

I am NOT a fan of "the fade" and like to keep my plants as green as possible right to the end.

Having said that, I am considering a drought !

Day 23 The Girls 27 Mar 23.jpg

And a pleasant surprise in the mail today. A seismic company has been conducting tests on my land this winter and that includes a water well draw test. They sent me a water analysis :yahoo:

And just because, supper tonight !

Honey garlic lemon oregano oven baked chicken thighs, spuds and steamed broccoli, yummm...

Bud Back Building ?

Casual research leads me to think this technique has the potential to increase yields.....

Or just be visually stunning seeing only solid buds over a foot long :yahoo:

The concept is the buds will build sideways instead of up....

I might be a bit early (?) at 3 1/2 weeks of flower but I think I'm going to give it a try tomorrow.

My Apple Betty is closest to my original plan and a good candidate for a test, she has roughly 12 tops and vigorous.

Maybe do three tops...

After 27 days she has only stretched an inch in the last three days.

Yield and height control aren't the issue, Curiosity is ;)

Whatcha think ?

The Girls tonight....

It will be interesting what you think of the bud back building. Others speak well of it altho when I tried doing it, I didn't really notice enough difference to say whether it worked or not. I thought I did it right, but perhaps I did it too early, or too late or something.

Did you note "when" you did it ?

As in what day ?
