Just a few...they double in population every 3 weeks, so it starts slow and then ramps up...Hey blew. I've been picking out little red wiggles from my compost bin... how many would I need to start a bin?
Plenty...put them in the largest container you can handle...fill it 1/3 full of dirt, get it nice and soaked and add food...Think I picked out 150+ got them in a 2 gallon bucket for now
Welcome back...looking forward to seeing your grow....here's some helpful links:Hey Blew, Glad I saw your journal. I'm in Maine also. I've been away for 6 yrs. I've still been growing but due to life's plan for me I haven't had time to do a journal. I would love to though. I'm doing a greenhouse grow now. Just trying to figure out how to post pics again and reading up on the rules and such. I hope to keep up and do this sites justice by completing it. I have more pics of my grows than of my family it seems. Not really but close. My keyboard is dead so I need to use the on screen keyboard. So slow. Have a good day Blew. Ken
That's an early morning 99.9%RH...A candidate for pic of the month?
BLEW!!!! WOW!! I just went back to see the latest pics and man what a jungle you got going on.... everything look amazing...
No doubt...GH are the schizz...really hoping I can grow next summer in the bigger GH...my only concern now is the aroma...it is 100 feet from the road and I keep thinking it might be obvious with 6x big plants in 65-gallons in bloom!I got a change to get out to my bro's place and was in his GH. Its amazing how big they get with the space and sun.
Worms rock. Keep it simple...veggie scraps, coffee grounds, egg shells...I've got a large plastic tote that I'll get set up for the new worm bin... cant wait to get this going
Skip the newspaper and go light on the cardboard (and it needs to be in small pieces...it doesn't really break down). I prefer adding coir because it all goes into the soil in the end. Throw some dirt on that (or just plan dirt is fine) and soak it all. I just throw the food on top and close the lid. If you don't add fruit you won't get any smell or fruit flies. Worms will get the food from below...That's mostly what goes into my compost now.... we dump a 5x8x8 inches bin everything second day .. now I'm just start feeding the worms. So its newspaper or cardboard shredded and soaked on bottom with some dirt on top.... the. Bury veggie scraps
Absolutely...you can start a bin with a handful....I could just split these up after a bit and start more bins too?
So you say you're not selling it, then what do you use it for ?I bet I could get his seed for a zip of my grow...he told me "you have to smoke like 10lbs to get a buzz!" ...thc cannot exceed .3%...
If you are referring to hemp, basically it would be a very cool cover crop...it cleans the soil, shades out the weeds, pigs eat it, you can compost it, etc. I currently do the same with oats, buckwheat, sunflowers, and field peas. In our initial conversation he told me it was $50/acre fee and I thought that would be worth it to grow 1000+ hemp plants legally...but in actuality it is a $100 app fee, $500 license fee, and $50/per acre fee...so for $650 not worth it on my small scale. So you say you're not selling it, then what do you use it for ?
That's really the true downside of legalization. The fees and taxes are really ridiculous. Hopefully that will change in the future one legalization is nation wide. But even after that it will take some time.If you are referring to hemp, basically it would be a very cool cover crop...it cleans the soil, shades out the weeds, pigs eat it, you can compost it, etc. I currently do the same with oats, buckwheat, sunflowers, and field peas. Well, for my farmer friend making $150k on a crop, that $700 is nothing...so scale is relevant. There are no fees or taxes on home cultivation in Maine...so I am happy to say I am unaffected by any of the legalization downsides. That's really the true downside of legalization.
