It's been an ideal summer so far weather-wise. I think I hit the starting time just right this year...we'll see if I can manage their size through flower.Hey Blew....looking good there brother! The Greenhouse is looking dialed in man....nice work. Gonna sit back and watch the magic happen!!
Had to look that up...shoulderWas going to BBQ a Boston Butt this morning
Yeah I noticed the price difference a year or so ago while shopping for boveda packs on amazon. I asked myself the same question, wtf are they more expensive for? Oh, right, because we want them.Has anyone else noticed the price difference for Boveda 62% versus 65%? Almost a 30% difference even when you buy a 12-pack...(58% and 62 priced same). Clearly they know people are buying it for cannabis and jacking price accordingly. Which makes me ask...anyone use the 65%?
I screwed several batches curing this winter due to lack of monitoring on my part...I even had some new 62 Bovedas on the shelf but I was just trying something new...and failed...frustrating. With this years harvest i am going to try curing in 5-gallon buckets, lined with mylar, on their sides, and thinking of putting 2x 60gram Bovedas in each.I don't use the Boveda packs. I dry to 62% (using my humidity indicator), then store in a turkey roasting bag in the cellar in a stainless steel stock pot. Always has been very fine. Still smoking some blueberry from 2 years ago. And you're right, this is an ideal growing season so far!! Cheers
Have you ever tried the Boost 62 packs? I'd have to check, but I've never noticed a price difference with those.Has anyone else noticed the price difference for Boveda 62% versus 65%? Great tip...just ordered 12x for $27 delivered....Have you ever tried the Boost 62 packs? I'd have to check, but I've never noticed a price difference with those.
I've used them for awhile & like them as much as the Bovedas.
I'd cut it down. I just cut down my 7' beast this morning. It was a sad thing, but I had to do it. But as usual, the rest of your grow looks stellar. Can't wait to see your harvest. By the way, who helps you do your cutting and trimming at harvest time. You got wayyyyyy to many plants this year to do it yourself.8 Miles High is a confirmed DUDE....any reason not to just cut his ass down?
Not too bothered to cut it since, as you said, I have others, but I need to learn to plant at least 2x of the regular seeds if I actually want to see them through to harvest...haven't considered or worried about the harvesting aspect....yet...in the past I just stagger them and I am pretty deft with clippers....I tend to burn through the chop/wash in about 2 hours and then I rack dry before I final trim. I plan on using the root cellar this year which means the Cabin will be...fragrant. I stopped rentals in it after first week of Nov, so we'll see.I'd cut it down. Yeah but its the better half of the shoulder. The picnic shoulder is the other half. The picnic shoulder takes about 50% longer which is absolutely necessary to break down all the tissue and tendons in that cut. The boston butt portion is much faster to smoke.....which when you have to attend the smoker the entire time is a major factor. The stall is much more unpredictable with the picnic shoulder cut....I have had a stall last over 5 hours and as little as 2 for the same size cuts. I guess if I had a smoker with electronic controls, the picnic shoulder might have its place on my smoker......but with a cheap horizontal smoker that requires lots of manual control I will stick with the Boston Butt.Had to look that up...shoulder
My butcher just marks it "shoulder" and everything else is either "bacon", "chops", "country ribs" or "fresh ham"! I tend to just smoke everything until the coals putter outYeah but its the better half of the shoulder. The picnic shoulder is the other half.
