Maine 4-Season Greenhouse Grow

Excited to see what you grow this summer Blew. Absolutely love the cabin woodwork. Nothing better than the smell of fresh cut wood. It looks stunning too.

That is something I would do around here. Been thinking hard actually. Buy a small piece of land and put on a nice little cabin.

Just for the record, I call first dibs on the live-in farmhand/apprentice/trimmer position whenever it should become available
This summer will be my first time growing cannabis with guests on the property...I was constrained by a USDA contract (federal) prior to this summer, but now I am free to do so. We already get good rates for our rentals because supply of visitors exceeds demand (for better accommodations)...and we also get plenty of leaf peepers in the fall..but I always wondered if you could offer a "harvest special" for the entire month of November (which is our last and slowest month) where you let people harvest cannabis...and keep it. Cabin rates would be adjusted accordingly but you could send people monthly updates on the plant their going to harvest.

Just got my 25lbs of oyster shells today and will likely be mixing up some amendments tomorrow in the high tunnel (dry from the rain). Once I have all those mixed I'll start mixing in VC and start setting aside the soil to cook for the month of April. I am going to narrow down my list but I am definitely running 2x strains from @Van Stank in an attempt to redeem myself from a rotting fail last fall . Also going to run some 3-4x strains of Mandala genetics. Maybe another Carnival, blueberry, Purple Alaskan from @SeedsMan...shit, it's adding up  Maine, as predicted, never changed the law as they were threatening under our last (batshit crazy) Governor so I am still allowed 12x flowering plants for my household....and I think I'll add a few more for a friend...I have plenty of space, soil, and seeds....

You and me both...there is something primal about wood...like fire...its connected with our DNA...at one point I thought "maybe it's too much wood" in the cabin...nope...I think people will love it...just need to git er done.

I am hoping to run some TMD and Stank crosses in the fall when I can spend more time controlling their size lol. Might toss something outdoors this summer, like some autos.

Totally primal, love wood and fire, been fighting forest fires my entire adult life. Like a moth to a flame, can’t escape it lol

Well, I've shut down the 315wCMH and now the tent is running on the 200W @TimberGrowLights with the 3x ( technically 4x, but not really counting the runt Berry Bomb) plants....going to run them for another 2-3 weeks and then shut down the Cottage Winter Grow. Spring is teasing to arrive and starting to get things ready outside for the farm, cottage & cabin and, of course, a summer grow. :)
So what did you like and not like about the 315 CMH?

One of my neighbors does that with red tail deer and would do a cow if one wanted. Don't know how well he does but someone buys his venison. He's been at it for many years. You could be on to something Blew.

Overall I liked it...it is a good combo to the 200W Citizen COBS...The plants definitely liked it :)

He offers to slaughter it with the buyer?

Years ago he didn't. I don't know today.

I have a 315 light and I think plants really do like it but the footprint doesn't fit my tents. I have it on hand in case of emergency. Too bad they didn't make one with maybe 414 watts that covers a full 4 x 4 space well.

Great idea, Blew. I'm sure you'll attract a lot of eyes at the mention of cannabis. You might be careful combining higher rates with cannabis in return. Could be construed as sale of cannabis. Might attract the wrong eyes. But a great idea! Cheers

Awoke to a light dusting of snow....April weather in Maine...rain right behind it...I grabbed an image of the weather forecast for this week ... they say if you don't like the weather on the coast of Maine, just wait 5 minutes

Yes, they refer to that as "bundling" but that is hard to prove and only really enforced when people are ridiculous abbot it ($100 coffee mug with free herbs). Room rates fluctuate with weekends and special events in the area (festivals, concerts, etc) so that is a common occurrence...

We already get fully booked out...hence the addition of the Cabin...but the idea is solid...just not sure if I want to host it. We'll see how it goes this summer...I am always looking for where I can put the pigs to keep their fragrance from the guests (but still in bucolic view) but there is no moving the GH and high tunnel...shouldn't begin to really stink until Sept :)

Highya BlewHiller,

I've started making lactobacillus serum for composting. Another use is for spraying at foul odors. It would keep a sty from foul smells. I visited a farm yesterday. She had two pigs there with no smell. Also lambing season. So cute!!
Congrats on a yearfull booking! Can't blame you for expanding. Can you talk to guests to see if cannabis is a big reason why they came? I'm sure you already thought of that. I'll shut up now. Cheers

The pigs don't really "stink", but animals (including humans) do smell...sometimes people confuse the two and we are mindful of that one bad review that mentions the smell "ruined" their vacation...we get all types and sometimes there is no pleasing people...we also get those that say it was wonderful and want to return...and leave a 4-star review...those annoy me worse...like they needed a handjob thrown in for that extra star...

We've only had 2 (out of 60+) that have mentioned cannabis, so there is really no huge interest. I thought there would be more, but in the summer it is mainly families and in the Fall we start getting more couples...only a few asked some roundabout questions and I'm like "we grow it"...they aren't used to the candor, but the point of it being legal is you can grow it...and not be afraid to talk about it.

I am getting excited to finish the Cabin and we are on schedule. I am tickled pink that we already have an adventurous young family (from NYC) coming up for 2 weeks to "read, relax, and unwind"...I would add "disconnect" and that sums up the ethos of the Cabin...a quiet place in a crazy world. I also think that will be a growing trend in the future...simple vacations for people worn down by the rat race.

Muddy as hell...had a lumber delivery Tues and I told them it was muddy and drop at the top of the hill...driver backed down, got stuck, too big for my tractor to pull, he calls boss, they send a tow truck, tow truck proceeds to get stuck, tow truck called their other truck...I had 3 vehicles linked up heading to terra firma...

Hope you have sub-contractors for that!
You never know till they leave...all smiles when they are there...I am told there is a thing where people don't give that 5-star review to, like, leave room for improvement? We only have 2x 4-star reviews (out of 65) and the one, our first guest ever, we deserved. The second said exactly ..."loved it and would def return"...I guess since we aren't on a cliff overlooking the ocean and a unicorn waterfall, they'll hold that fifth star in their pocket

Comes with the industry, I guess. Can't keep em all happy.... grumpy bitches. LoL

I'd love to come up for a stay. Vacation for this summer is planned, but next year isn't out of the question. Your place sounds like it is just my style!
