Today I received both pumps, the heater core, and my CO2 regulator. So I went over to the depot and got some adapters for the pumps and and 8x6 to 6" round air duct adapter - this is for the heater core to make my homemade icebox chiller.

Tomorrow should be a big day of building.

I trimmed some of the huge ones down, they were blocking light form the others too much.

The plants in the cloner have blown up:

Which will connect to my mag drive 700gph pump via 1/2 inch PVC, wish it were bigger but that is what the pump comes with.

Tomorrow I will mount the DH, the HEPA filter, build the new light box, install vents to the outside for the light box.... so much to do still.

Good light? I think I have the best lights there are. I spent over $2000 on light because I am damn sure they are better than HPS. O maybe you think I flower under the florescents? No I have 3x180W and 1x200W LED flower lights.

A lot more work today, build my DIY "cool coil" and "ice box", installed the DH and HEPA into the closet, drilled holes for the light box in and out, connected the pump to the nute res, and piped a little more of the NFT. I also replaced the board overhead that I hang everything from.

OK So another day in the mines today. I got quite a few things done.

Well first things first, I spoke to the guys at Advanced LED's and they are sending me a new 400DS! So now this is a 760W grow! Not only that but an upgrade to the awesome new Diamond Series technology... Now on to today's work.

Well the new light required a redesign of my light box, I had cut some plywood, but that all I lost really. So a half hour in ACAD and that is done, then I wound the "Cool Coil" around a 4" piece of PVC so make it look pretty and make it a bit smaller. Forgot to take a pic of that one..

So I finished piping the NFT, and ran a test with some water. I found two leaks, one was a legit leak and the other one was a joint that I forgot to glue. Here are some pics of the NFT in action:

Here is the return with a long turn 90 deg elbow, it is how I plan to control the level in the NFT:

I built a shelf for my RO res to sit on over my nute res, so this will gravity feed into the nute res:

toilet valves wont work.

I have already pulled 14 ounces from a 2x6 space with 540 watts. (Thats .73g / watt ) That was my second grow ever in soil, so I consider that a success.

If I was using HPS I suppose I could use 2x air cooled 400s? or 600s? but that would be a lot more heat, I would not be able to run sealed with my current setup. The person that owns the house that I am in does not want me using HPS lights in an enclosed space, so that is not an option for me.

Even if it were I think I would stick with LED.

Have you seen stevehman's journals? he has pulled 0.75g/watt.

What statistic do you use to judge LED's as inferior? Is it just that you have not seen the results yourself and don't believe the number people are posting?

Question/your opinion sought...
There are "air chillers" which chill the air and run the chilled air right back into the room instead of venting the room's air out as exhaust.
When I saw the pic of such an air chiller at the AN site, it looked like, and actually is
just a miniaturized car radiator(a heat exchanger), a copper coil with cold water flowing through it. The copper coil sits inline in the air ducts, as the air is sucked over it, the room cools. I guess it's just like making the grow room itself into an air conditioner actually lol.
I'm playing with the idea of anti-freeze or even ammonia recirc-ing through a copper coil to DIY it.

Your thoughts on "not exhausting air, but recirculating the cooled air back into the room"?

That is exaclty what I am doing, I am using a heater core in line with a 4" centrifugal fan on a thermostat, so when it gets hot the blower turns on and blows the grow room air over the heater core with cold water running through it. Check out my DIY "IceBox" thread:

Well, I can tell you this...a pal of mine is borrowing one of my "Brand X" 300W units, and pretty much told me that although there's still 4 weeks to go, the LED buds are looking WAY the fuck better. And he's been growing for 25 years.

I'm with Maer, don't be a hater.
