Maer's 540W Advanced LED — G13/Haze - DIY 4" PVC Revised StevehmaNFT Grow

Re: Maer's 540W Advanced LED – G13/Haze - DIY 4" PVC Revised StevehmaNFT Grow

The other thing limiting my expansion is my current local regulations. Of course after spending 100s to be legal want to work within the legal guidelines.

I suppose I could grow 16 huge bushes but then that adds veg time, this is an old discussion I think pretty much everyone agrees the SoG mentality (many small plants > fewer large plants ) has been proven the winning one for indoor.

Number of plants you are allowed to grow is also a factor. If number of plants is your limiting factor and not space then it makes sense to do large plants right? My wife and I are each allowed 6 plants so I want to do 3 tents with 4 large plants in each. If I stagger them on 90 day cycles I should be able to harvest pretty much every month right? Or do you think a sog style with only 12 plants would still beat a setup like that?

with a 12 plant max, I would go with your plan, but might mod it to doing the plants in pairs, harvesting 2 every 2 weeks. Top them, scrog them out to fill 1/2 of the tent and then start the other 1/2 of the tent 2 weeks later.

Does your limit also include clones in the total? Some of the counties in CA have where you can have 6 mature, 6 immature plants (6 bloom, 6 veg). Do you plan on clones or going from seed? Also, do you have a sqft limit? Mine is 64sqft (8x8), that may be a factor as well. Although I am only at about have of my space limitation, but maxed out on plant limit.

Maer - Very nice! X-mas is coming early to your house!!!

McMuffin - I agree 100%. If you're trying to stay legal and you're limited on plants and not space, grow as many plants as you can as large as you can comfortably get them. In a typical SOG, which I'm a BIG fan of and will most likely do on my next grow, I see yields of about 1/2 oz. per plant. You can easily get 2-10 oz. per plant if space is not a limitation, and it would only take maybe a 3-8 week longer veg period, or so.

The point is you can turn around 12 SOG plants in 60 days, rather than veg for 30 and flower for 60. 6 harvests per year vs 4.

The other problem becomes light penetration, so you can stack on the 1000s overhead or maybe do a water cooled vertical tube, but if you have 4 foot tall plants indoor lighting the bottom is a problem.

One of the reasons I suggest a Scrog set up. Minimize penetration issues, maximize canopy and bud sites. If you have a 4x4 tent and can completely fill that space with a flat canopy and turn it every 60 days, you'd be set. But it may take a couple weeks of veg time to fill the screen, so maybe closer to 75 days turn around. Also depends on hydro, soil etc... I'm finding this aero setup is killing it on times as does the NFT. For production, short turn-around and ease of use, those are setups I would choose (although I haven't built my undercurrent yet--that's next though).

Well, if I'm honest, money is the real limiting factor at this point. I'll probably start with a 12 plant hempy setup while I save for 2 additional sets of gear. I'm allowed to have 24 clones so my plan is to get a 30 site EZ cloner and stick it under some CFLs. For now though my local clinic hooks me up with free clones anyway because I'm such a cool dude. :yahoo:

The 3 tent perpetual harvest is the end goal but I'm thousands of dollars and a move away from making that happen. Just trying to figure out a game plan so I have something to work towards.

I picked up the 60 site cloner for a few bucks more than the 30 site. I use every other site and use it to do the initial veg before going to bloom. I will send you the link to where I found the lowest price. My local hydro store matched the price for me, and no shipping costs.

I would also recommend the 60 because in reality if you are going to do anything more than root them you need to give them more space, so a 60 is really a 30.

Well I'll really only ever need 12 at any given time and if I'm not mistaken the 30 site will fit in the 2x2 tent I already have. So eventually my micro grow becomes a pretty sweet clone propagator. That and there are a couple used ones for sale here in the 100 dollar range. I'm gona grab one in two weeks if he's still got it. Thanks for the link though. I'm saving it just in case.

Can I see a pic of how you joined two square PVC posts ?
Or is it just the water-delivery pipe that is joined?

I am using schedule 40 water pipe, its round 4 inch. Check out some pics a couple pages back.

I am now looking for a light rail, I have a 6'6" long space and will need about 8 inches of travel, any suggestions? The whole 4 light assembly with wood enclosure will weigh near 50 pounds.

Re: Maer's 540W Advanced LED – G13/Haze - DIY 4" PVC Revised StevehmaNFT Grow

The assembly will have eye hooks at each end, about 5.5 or 5 feet apart. Steve what are the dimensions of the glass on the DS200, it seems like a different size than the 180s were I have to take that into account.

I am thinking of using 1/4 particle board for this, or maybe building the bottom part of wood and the top of foam board panel.
