MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insane!

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Time for the mater update!

Just a couple of pics. The San Marzano mater is really amazing. It's over 3 ft tall now and I had to add another soft tie to help her stay up. The Celebrity and Early Girl are coming on strong with flowers starting to appear. Fed them all with FF Big Bloom today and a little Cal/Mag. They seem to be loving the same nute's I feed my grows.

My second favorite herb! Basil has to be kept trimmed almost daily to keep it from flowering and turning tough. Basil burgers anyone?

It's 100 deg out and no sign of sag. Well... except me, lol!

You ROCK BRO! Thanks for that. I'll definitely start pricing one of the sulfur burners. Am concerned about the heat though. But if I recall they also add CO2? I'll have to do some research and get it into my budget ASAP! The Safer I think I can get this weekend.

You mention thinning the undergrowth. Man, you nailed that one. That's another thing that I should have done before the PM attacked. On my first indoor grow (Hog) I kept the undergrowth to an absolute minimum fearing exactly what happened to the Afgoo. For some ungodly reason I really wanted to take a more hands off approach to the Afgoo. Live and learn, ugh! :cheesygrinsmiley:

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Well sheeeit! Now it's Spider Mites!!!

Yup... This past weekend created some real challenges. First the PM, then 4th of July eve when I finally got a chance to chill in the garden with the "Goddess" I notice a few leaves on mystery #1 (outdoor grow) yellowing and browning at the tips, and thought "it's probably just older undergrowth that has reached their usefulness". Then I thought about what I just went through with the indoor Afgoo and checked more closely. Yup, Spider Mites. I removed the four infested leaves and sprayed the plant and nearby plants with Organocide. Found one more today. Hope I can get control soon. I'm thinking Neem oil this weekend as I have diligently sprayed with Organocide to prevent such a problem like this, but it obviously was not as affective as I would have expected. I'm disappointed in that but, what the heck, it's time to move on and try other things. I do have pics. I just don't have time to post them. I will ASAP.

On a positive note, the "Goddess of the Garden" and I plus the 2 little ones had an awesome Independence Holiday Weekend! No pests or PM will be allowed to keep us down!!! Fireworks and BBQ for three days straight!!! But I still can't win those water gun fights!!!

Peace to you all and remember this... there is NO plant in this world that can keep you from having a good time with the ones you love most.

Sounded like you and the family had a good 4th. You will never win water gun fights....got a feeling your out numbered.:) Glad you still had great time with the family. Jo and I sat on the back porch and watched the fireworks show down at the beach. :partyboy::hippy::partyboy:

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

MacG as far as i know the sulfer burner shouldnt increase the heat... i do think it creates a little Co2 though...
few things ill mention, when u set up the burner put it on a timer.... have it come on during lights off for like an hour-2 on 3 off 2 on and only use for a day or so...
safer is a great organic Pm destroyer!
AAAAAAAGGGG SPIDER MITES!!!!! MY MOST HATED PEST!
Azamax! SNS 203! rotate those two! and they will be bug be gone! if that dosnt work go for a Pyrithium bomb!
make sure u give them 2-3 days between treatments (the reason i recomend trading the treatment between two or more is because if u use the same over and over, you will begin to see the SM start to protect each other, climing on the eggs and each other.
if u get to this spot you have created super mites, if u get to that... well your dun :( so dont let them get used to the treatments!)
Definitly take more undergrowth now take all low level leaves from 3rd node down this will help alot.
also if it is just in the mystery... move it as best as you can so that no leaves are touching any other plants as this is how they spread. this will also help to contain them.
good luck with the Spidermites
OOOO last thing... get some coco wet for your foiler this will help it to cover the leaves better helping with your fight! ( this does just bout the same as a drop of dish soap but seems to work better)

Glad to hear that the problems in the GR didnt effect the family time.
im told i cheat when it comes to water gun fights.... i always fill a balloon or two.... got to make it even some how! 3 kids against one! well damnit they are going to get wet too!

hope my rambling helps!
if these treatments dont work i have some hard core methods that will... but they are deffinitly last resort as they really dont like it, but it can save your crop..... kinda.... hope it doesnt come to them
good luck brother!

:thankyou: OMM! I'll have time Sat to go on a search, buy, and destroy mission. :) I'm thinking that Organocide is not as effective as advertised, so will be looking for the Neem or AsaMax. You seem to be partial to the AsaMax. Can you pass on some of your experience with it o' mighty one? :):):) :adore:

Outnumbered? Shoot... my kids are as overwhelming as fungus gnats!!! :)

Wow Shaggie!!! Thanks for taking the time to help me out here, sounds like real experience talking!!! :adore: Don't see much rambling, just great info. I was thinking that isolation of the infected SM plant would be a good idea and now I think it's a must. Coco wet I don't know anything about, but will look for it on my search, buy, and destroy mission this weekend.

Well... actually it's the "Goddess of The Garden", aka, my wife, (which I think from now on I'll shorten to GOG:)), so it's me against her and the two little blue meanies! Yup they always win, but now I have a new weapon... BALLOONS! Never thought of that... your evil!

Reps to you!+++

:thankyou:

Basically being lazy, I really prefer the Asamax to Neem. I've used both, but Asamax in my mind works better and it kills more critters. Asamax is feed to your plants every other watering. It does kill some things on contact, but what it really does is it repels critters. Critters really don't want to get on your plants, They can't stand it. I originally bought it for bud miners, but it works so well for all things insect wise. It's a tad expensive if you have a lot plants, but for outdoors it is the best I've seen. :high-five:

It can be used for a wash too.

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

Coco wet is just a wetting agent.... it helps in you folier feeding to make the spray coat the leaves better... the drops wont just roll off..... also helps to take the little buggers out they cant breath just like soap.
Azamax is a definitely good one... i have never used it in the feeding proses at work though... like OMM said its kinda expensive for a large number of plants...
another GREAT AWESOME additive that was created for spider-mites and has sense found other benefits in use is SM 90!
can be used in feeding or as a foiler... and by far is the best and i believe is one of the older SM killers

unfortunitly i do have some horror storys about thoes little bastards..... beleive me the last thing you want on a cold -10* day in the winter is to go in to your grow house and see 300 + plants covered in moving cobwebs......

BTW what color are the SM?
hopeing they arnt the little red bastards

yah the wife says im evil too lol but u know what they dont play fair either lol

Hey MacG! Congrat's on getting the PM under control, but sorry to hear about the new issues with the spider mites!

Since you've been looking into sulfur burners...

I good 420-Buddy, WeednFeed, who hasn't been on in months (where'd ya go, Weed?), had a PM problem and did a really cool DIY sulfur burner. He posted the process here:

DIY Sulphur Burner/Evaporator

Note: sulfur is hazardous to humans, so make sure you're not in the area while you're applying!

Re: MacG's Afgooey - White Widow - Hog - Mystery Plants - In/Outdoor Soil Grow - Insa

I made a natural pesticide that worked with my horrible fungus gnat infestation. I boiled a few cups of water, added 2 peppermint tea bags, 1 camel cigarette, about 10ml of neem, and this really worked for the fungus gnats. I don't know if it would work for you SM infection but might want to look into peppermint, seems to be a pretty common pest deturrent....

Thanks OMM! I'll definitely add that to my arsenal this weekend. I can be lazy at times too, and I like simple!!! :)

Hey Shaggie, I believe they're the "black spotted" variety. As soon as I get some more time I'm going to post some pics, if I can get my microscope camera to cooperate, ugh!

Now that's a horror story for sure... kind of reminds me of "The Birds" movie. I'll look into the SM90 to. I isolated the infected plant and found 3 more infected leaves tonight. Damn... can't wait to get something affective because the Organocide seems to have no affect. Thanks for all your input. :thankyou:

Yup. They never do! :) I'm on a comeback plan, the balloons are on!
