Lost In The Fog

Thought I give you guys an update on what I'm doing right now during off grow season....

Progress on Memory Orb, Bladerunner 2049

These are the center cog wheels for the prop.
I covered them with aluminum tape for easiest way to get that metallic look and feel.
The tape is soft and easy to get textures like these grooves to show through and give some paint for that extra look.

This is a picture of the complete set of parts needed to be printed for this piece,
I can't more than be very impressed by the artist who managed to design this and have it working.
I'm not sure yet if I will follow this build through with the mechanical side to it with working spinning
wheels but I will most def try to make it look just like the original.

It's intended to be a birthday present for my brother
if I can manage to get it done in time... he leaves this weekend.

Hope to give some green pics here soon for everybody to look at...

Cheers, CraZy out.

That's an aggressive project CrAz. Nice!!

You know me... why make something simple when it can be very intricate, almost impossible... LoL

Very cool!

Do you think you could you knock out a 1:1 of those flying cars? :cheesygrinsmiley:

I still feel cheated about the year 2000; no hover cars, no silver clothing, no towers with transparent tubes between them...

I'm also a little disappointed in the future but we can still dream up pretty amazing things even now for next year, right? :)

Flying cars is on the next to do list after memory orb, actually made another pretty ambitious project... printed and built a mod for my printer. Its a direct drive system for the filament feeding. These cheaper printers have the filament feeding done through a 50-60cm long Teflon tube, this system is ok but reaction times for both feed and retraction is greatly affected by this meaning less accurate prints so a direct drive system is better. This shortens the distance to almost zero between stepper motor that feeds filament and the printer head. This mod used all the original parts except for some new m3 bolts and nuts, a direct drive of the shelf is 100$ up to 1000$ depending on the setup.

Btw, how is your well and water running now?

There's no shortage of amazing things in our version of the universe for sure. I'd actually pass on the silver clothing and the towers & tubes, but I'd take a flying car!

The well is working fine, thank you. I've got hold of some very expensive vulcanizing tape to fix the dripping pipe - Just need to crawl down there and apply it...

Good to hear that you're tuning the 3D printer for that flying car job :p The teeth inside the Memory Orb looks quite good in the picture already, so if you can DIY an increase in printing precision with the printer itself that just great! :thumb:

I know that tape is expensive I usually get the black thin one its most generic for other use than taping leaking pipes. Seen those clear wider ones they market but never tried it. If its possible try to rub the pipe with some sandpaper (preferably smärgelduk) before applying tape and do pull some on the tape when you are winding it against the pipe, the vulcanization gets much better grip and works better.

This is one of the gears in closeup, its printed in PLA (cheapest of plastics).
Resolution is 0,2mm per layer, best 0,1mm, this is Z-axis (height)

Printing have progressed much since I got the package of parts that didn't work I payed too much money for, but it literally opened up a new world to me with possibilities I never thought were possible. I started to play with different plastics now so yesterday I did my first print with PETG that's even stronger than ABS and easier to print as well. Think another ambitious project for this winter is to print parts for another printer, there are quite a lot of cad files out there. One of the more known brands of printers, Prusa, is actually mostly printed parts. Aaah well Asperger talking again... :laughtwo:

Impressive stuff Crazy but is it water-tight?

Yeah, PLA is def water-tight... a little brittle though if made thin.

The PET(G) is very good acid and alkaline withstanding properties so it's no problem making a container and storing compounds with these properties in them. Problem is it's hard to get a nice finish to it if compared to ABS which is easy to vapor treat with Acetone to fuse together the layer lines created in the printing process.

I now know a word in Swedish, and next time I am looking for a nail file I'll ask if anyone has seen the smärgelduk board!

LoL If you ask for that in a hardware store here you get a very abrasive cloth covered with very coarse grit like 50-180 so I guess wifey wants a little more finer grit on her nail file. :) Its great to use on feet though when taking a bath. LoL

I hope all went well with the botox! :ciao:

Wish I could give you guys some good news but after making the trip there yesterday, its 140km round trip from my place, they caled to cancel treatment due to illness....! This is the second time this happens when I get there. Apparently this doctor is the only one who can administer Botox, so treatment is scheduled next week instead.

That's a big disappointment CraZ! Hope you have a light week.

BTW, is the new door in place?

If I tell them about you guys I'll probably be denied all healthcare I get. LoL

New door is in place and its Ginza approved! :) Dead silent from staircase so its doing a great job, will probably have no problem concerning any smell seepage either in that direction. Will hopefully be able to keep it on a more descent level now when I can't smoke anything for awhile anyway, will probably have a descent stockpile when it starts going up in smoke... LoL

Hope you have a light week.

We can always hope...! Thx Otter. :)

Well that sucks! Sounds like they need a new office manager. I hope they get you sorted next week, but it's hard to believe there isn't a closer doctor who can do this. In the states there's one every 5 blocks!

Oh they sure would need.... I'm not in the clear what they actually done for me more than sending me to medieval style nerve exams and pumping me full with nerve toxins. :laughtwo:

Well that's the biggest difference between our healthcare systems I guess. Here we need to wait and then wait some more to eventually go see a specialist in every field that always seems to be a few hours away to turn a paper and say there's nothing wrong with you.

Warning CraZy build ahead...

Here it is @NorthernCosmos :p

This all started with me getting an airbrush for painting my 3d prints with, and wanting to be able to do so in my apartment. So I bought an airbrush compressor 90W 4bar, discovering it had NO tank... who builds an compressor without a tank? So I bought a 3L tank for this compressor just to discover the compressor ran as much as before if not even more when spraying.

So I started scratching my head, I had this 6L portable one but its way to noisy to have in my apartment so I stumbled on this 24L super silent one. Bad part with this is low noise means slow compression and it took several minutes to get this tank full so I got the idea to change tank to the smaller to get a faster pressure buildup.

I can add I now own 4 compressors..... :laughtwo:

Excellent work! :thumb:
I'll :blunt:to that!

See you're at the summer house. It looks nice there from the little glimpses, proper shed and all.

Thx Nc!

Yeah this is probably the absolute last summer I spend here, I feel its both a relief and with pain to leave this place. Spent most springs, summers, fall and even winter days here these past 13 years. As you probably know me and my former partner broke up 2 years ago and now its come to disclosure of this place as well. She is the sol owner of it and decided to sell it now and I'm not willing to pull 10.000$ (100.000kr) for it. Its not worth that much even with my insanity...

I'm not looking forward to trying to fit all my trash from there in my apartment... LoL
