LMAO Cloning For Dummies

I have heard of some people having problems with the sand thing, some times they bring in new bugs and depending on what the sand is made up of it can play havoc with the pH. I have never used sand so I'm not speaking from experience but have read about it a few times. Just something to think about. But you are right on about the flora in the soil! Sorry for not listing that in my post. But that is spot-on you will have to build that back up if you use peroxide.

I was having a problem with gnats on several of my outdoor plants and put down an inch to 1 1/2 inches of white sand and the gnats went away. Nowhere to lay their eggs so they headed off. The only problem I had with the sand was when I knocked over a pot, with sand, and a plant covered with sticky trichromes. The plant rolled over and ended up in the upright position. BUT the sand was now stuck all over the buds. Fortunately this was the plant I had used to make seeds so the buds weren't much to write home about anyway. But from personal experience I thought the sand did a good job of keeping pests away from the actual soil.

Yes outdoors is a different ballgame, I'm not saying t doesn't work. I know it can work but sometimes it can cause other problems. Diatomaceous earth is also a good treatment for gnats. It's like crushed glass to most insects. T will cut them up as they try o crawl through it or even walk on it. It's very safe and organic. But it can cause problems if you breath the dust. It can mess with your lungs so make sure you turn off all fans when you are working with it.

Hey Skunk man!! How are the black tips doing? I had some extra time yesterday so I did a little research on that problem. The thing that came up most of the time were root problems. Mostly from over watering. The second thing that came up was either root bound with bad drainage Don't know for sure because I have not had this particular problem but I can tell ya your not alone. I went through a pile of cases and these were the reasons for other's.

I was watering maybe once every 4 days or when it felt dry...it seems to drain really good i drilled a lot of holes in the bottom...rootbound maybe but idk cause I grew in a lot smaller pots last time no problem...I think it's this soil...have no info on it really...the makers couldn't even tell me the npk of it...but idk I'm pissed I used it but using new soil from now on...I'm not gonna mess with mom plant just gonna finish her the way she is...thanx for the info

What kind of fungus do you have is it in the soil or is it on the plant and as for the gnats go how bad are they so I can figure out how you should treat them

Even tho I only have the one plant in flower for now I'm kinda excited to see the outcome...using a better light and better nutes and I trained her to have more bud sites hopefully ....I've got about 6 ft high to work with so

I was gonna look into those yellow sticky squares as well...not really and insect probs I can see but I have seen some things flying around

San works great when using soil to keep the bugs out one thing you do have to watch for is sometimes the bugs are smarter than we are and they will go from entering in the top of the soil to going in through the bottom of the pot so when trying to exterminate them with peroxide and water make sure that the bucket sits in water at the bottom that way they have nowhere to run I have never had a problem with white sand at the bottom of my plants the only time I would think you would have a problem is if you live somewhere like I do where the bugs love the sand but they don't seem to like play sand

cattle panels suggested as a viable alternative to rebar cages for large plant support...... i very well may not have been clear in my response ...
, ..
I must be looking at something else, the only thing I can find for cattle panels are heavy gauge wire fencing. How do you use this product for gnats? Or what type do you mean?

How are you guys in grow rooms removing the runoff water...it would be easy with just couple plants but when there's a lot of em in there how do you do it...I have a lil stand I built to put a tray underneath so I can remove it to empty it but yea if I had more plants in there it might not be that easy

I use a shop vac as well for water.
I think the problem with sand is when people think they can save a few bucks and bring home a bucket from a local area. I have seen first hand, not mine but a friend of mine. And he had his pH sky rocket over the next couple of weeks from when he used the sand and nothing else changed so it led us to believe that the sand must have been full of ground sea shells. That will raise pH and general hardness over time. He also ended up with some sort of bugs we could not identify. I have been scared of recommending sand since that because I was always afraid the person may just go to the beach and bring some home.
I agree it works.

Craigslist.........shopvac. Got a used one for $5.00 and it actually works. Never had to use it but if I did it's ready.

Finally, the last White Widow clone put out some roots. My first attempt at cloning was not so good with a 33% success rate with 1 of 3 surviving. My last attempt I took 7 cuttings from a White Widow plant and this was the last one to root.

100% success rate this go round with 7 of 7 rooting. I owe the turnaround to the heating pad and CloneX solution and a better understanding of how and why clones do what they do.
