Coco (Herbies Seeds Chocolate Thai Auto)
Date: 10/21/24 Day# 75 Flower day# 34
Medium: 5G SIP Bucket with Coco & Dynomyco
Nutrients(per gallon): 5.5g Megacrop 1-part + .8g Bud Explosion + .75 Epsom @ 5.8pH

My surgery on Friday went well and I'm back to shuffling around the house. My wife has been feeding Coco for me this weekend. She forgot on Saturday, which gave Coco a nice dry-back day. She's been drinking well since, although I gave up trying to track for now. I went down today to help her mix up some new nutrients and take a few pictures. Coco is still showing a bit of tip burn so I reduced the Bud Explosion TO .8G/g. Other than that she is stacking and building and looks and smells fantastic.

Coco is still drinking about 2 liters/day, considerably less than most of my autos at this stage. She has those long skinny Sativa leaves, though, so she's probably just not respiring as much as my normal Indica. I don't really care how much she drinks and would rather not have to fill the SIP twice/day anyways. However, if she is drinking less then isn't she getting less nutrients too?

Coco still looks good but she's definitely having problems with her top leaves. At first I thought it was a little tip burn and backed the BE off from .9g/G to .8g/G. On closer look, though, I think she's showing a nutrient deficiency. The tips of her leaves go yellow before they go brown and curl up at the tips. The leaves on her buds are lighter than they should be. She also has a few lower leaves that are yellowing. At this point I'd rather be slightly over-feeding than slightly under-feeding. Her next feeding will go back up to .9g/G and we'll see if it gets better or worse.

Right now, it's just the top leaves. Otherwise she still looks really healthy and is packing on the bud. Go Coco GO!

FWIW I grew a Wild Thailand photo that exhibited the same burnt tips with a curl @ 6g/gallon of Mega Crop one part.

I backed off to 5g/gallon to finish...

Cheers
Thanks Chuckeye. What do you think about the fading/yellowing leaves? Could that be nutrient excess as well?

I think so. Yellowing with MC usually is an ask for more food but I found those curled tips are over feeding...

My girl was burnt pretty bad and barely tolerated 5g/gallon until finish.

BUT I was growing in ProMix HP, pretty sure I only used BE a few times and no Cal/Mag with my well water....

You are far enough along to at least try less !
Mine ended up with the Worst bag appeal ever but Killer Smoke :yummy:

When I reduced feed I cut off the necrosis on a sample of tips and then kept an eye out for any progression.

Cheers and Good Luck, eh ?

What are your numbers for that mix? There's plenty of both P and K already in MC.
Do you just skip by his chart ? 😆
I think BE is never advisable with any version of MC.
From their web site >

Maximize flowering sites and budding nodes for initial weeks of flowering. More flower sites means bigger harvest and improved overall yields. Mid to late harvest used a potent blooming/budding enhancer.
I've used it sparingly and once too soon o_O

Set me back a week and Never did notice any improvement with it...

Cheers

Here is the schedule I've been using for the last couple of grows - MC Mix4, which mimics Prescription Blend.

I disagree. Before I started using BE in flower I was getting badly burnt upper leaves around day# 25-30 of flower (See Girl Scout Cookies auto). It wasn't until I started adding the BE that I was able to keep a few plants green through this stage. My MC has so much Ca I don't dare use more than 5.5g/G. I also didn't like the results I got when I just used more MC, too much N.

So this time I saw burnt tips and immediately thought nutrient burn. I must not have been paying attention, though, because it was around day# 30 of flower. I now think she was asking for a bit more, and instead I cut the BE back. I'm going back to .9g/G BE and we'll see how she responds.

Coco is coming in to her 8th week of flower and is still going steady. I can see her going 3-4 more weeks at this point, as long as I can keep her healthy. She's still doing pretty good and I don't see her issues progressing much. The buds are growing bigger every day. They're also getting sticky and starting to get some color. Let's see if they can put on some weight now.

I still have Coco on 2 liters/day of 5.5mc+.9BE+.75Epsom (around 1000ppm/2EC). I'm not putting any pH down in it this late in flower, so it's usually 6.0-6.1pH. Coco is still showing some leaf issues, but it doesn't seem to be progressing quickly. It almost looks like Ca/Mg def. If it is, I have to believe it is from something else locking it out (K) or pH issues, because there is plenty of Ca & Mg in the mix.

It looks like most of the sugar leaf damage stopped when I increased the BE. She's finishing up her 8th week of flower and still has a few more to go. Her buds are getting bigger and stickier, and she smells incredible. I removed a few lower leaves today that had shrivelled up but she has plenty of leaves left. Time to see how much weight this lady can put on :)
