Daisy (Barneys Farms Dos Si Dos Auto)
Date: 5/22/23 Day# 29
Medium: 5G bucket with GroBucket SIP insert, FFHF soil
Nutrients: 1/3c Geoflora veg amended in soil

It's hard to keep an even canopy when you're nursing a broken main. To 'fix' it I taped it back together so it was pointing straight up. It kept growing, but of course it wanted to just keep going up. I'd almost rather lose the limb than have it growing above the rest. Instead, I'm slowly pulling it the other way, toward the main stem. This allows me to bring it down with the others without re-opening the existing split.

Of course this means that both of the top mains are pointing the same way. At first, the whole plant wanted to go that way so I wedged a carhook underneath to support. Then, I pulled some of the other branches around to fill the void on the other side.

This morning I swapped out most of the carhooks for wire and binder clips. They're easier to slide and adjust at this point, especially since most of Daisy's branches are outside the bucket. I'll still use the carhooks on the inside branches soon. I also saw a couple of fungus gnats on the top of her rocks so I dusted her with Diatomaceous Earth (DE). I keep an old herb jar filled with DE that makes it easy to sprinkle on her.

Overall Daisy is a healthy and happy girl in preflower. She's starting to drink more water and will start her Remo nutrients soon. She's already wider than the bucket but there's plenty of height in the tent for her to grow. I'm looking to fill a little more horizontal space and let a few of the lower buds catch up, then I'm going to see how tall she can get!

Gina is simply gorgeous BudMan! :yummy:
Thanks GBD, I agree she may have the prettiest buds I've grown. It helps that she's stayed so healthy through the end. There may be good reasons for a drought, but pretty plants is not one of them ;)
All of his gardens are. :thumb:
Hope you guys are having a nice weekend.
Take care.

Thanks Bill and nice to see you over in here in auto land. Have you thought about a crop of autos in the greenhouse this year? They're great for variety.
Those purple trichs:circle-of-love:😍🍇
Thanks RSR, isn't that neat? She really does have an ice cream smell to her, too :yummy:
Remember when I voted to pull her and start over? That was someone else, my computer was stolen and 420 account hacked with that absurd post. Of course you should have kept her, I would have never advised otherwise :). She's beautiful and those trichs are dreamy. Great job LKA!
Hey, I was on the fence when it was time to go into the SIP. This was my first auto that had issues young and I really didn't think she'd be able to pull out of it. Why waste the SIP, I thought, just pop another seed.

Thanks to everyone that changed my mind! It once again proves to me that autos are not nearly as fragile as most people make out. Just get them healthy ASAP and let them go.
Yes on the purple trichs and I'm waiting for the broken branch update!
Hey Shed, the broken branch never seemed to miss a beat. It still amazes me that branches attached by the smallest threads can survive and even flourish.

Actually now that you mentioned it @Herbies Seeds sent me some new seeds and I think 3 were Gelato autos.
I usually give them away but I promised Herbies I'd grow another crop for them.
So as soon as I'm running ill drop a bunch of seeds , autos included.
I'll be diligent about pm this time.
It was an auto started it last year.
Take care my friend. :passitleft:

Hey now, don't blame the auto :laughtwo: My guess is that the auto started it last year because the auto was the first with big juicy buds. Good luck with a new crop of Herbies seeds, I'm looking forward to seeing that greenhouse filled up again. Have you figured out how to solve the RH issues in the greenhouse this year?

Your 100% correct.
Nothing to do with being an auto, just first to flower.
Going with a larger ventilation system and possibly 2 industrial dehumidifiers, 1 for sure.
If it can't handle it then 2, hehe.
I'm not loosing half my crop this year. ;)

Gina (FastBuds Gelato Auto)
Date: 5/23/23 Day# 90
Medium: 5 gallon SIP bucket with FFHF soil
Nutrients: Water Only

Gina finished the last of her week#6-8 Remo nutrients last weekend, with the res going fully dry on Sunday. From here out she gets plain water. It'll flush some of the salts out of the soil, but most of all I don't need to use up any more of my Remo nutrients.
Screenshot_20230523_102753_Sheets.jpg

I started plucking fans this weekend and had a hard time stopping. She's never been defoliated so there was quite a lot sticking out. I'm hoping the little bit of stress will help her finish up. I'll probably keep picking at her until she's ready to come down.

Time to revisit the list of harvest signs I'm looking for from last week:

- Pistils turn orange/brown and crinkle into the bud. Except for foxtails, you want to see 90%+ of the hairs turn color and crinkle in. Gina is still pushing out a few new white pistils, but most of hers are brown and crinkled. Now she's showing nanners too.
- Calyx (buds) swell up like they're full of seeds. Where the brown pistils come out, it looks like the calyx is opening up and trying to swallow the pistil. Her calyx are swelling and I see some brown pistils being swallowed.
- The smell will usually get really strong and change slightly, usually getting more skunky. I can smell her when I open the bedroom door upstairs now, and it's gotten more fruity.
- Branches will start sagging from the weight, especially side branches. My autos, though, rarely sag. Is it due to the LST? Maybe. I use the wiggle test instead and she has plenty of weight.
- The plant will start drinking less and stay wet longer. She's slowing down her drinking, but that could be from me plucking leaves.

All the signs above tell me that she's in her harvest window. I checked the trichomes today and they are saying the same. Mostly cloudy with a few clear and amber. I also found a few nanners pushing out, not a surprise on day# 90.

Yea, I know I suck at getting tric pics. The best pic up there is the nanner pic :) I'm getting the drying closet ready now for her, and we'll probably take her down tonight or tomorrow. Because of the DE I've used for the fungus gnats, I'm planning to wash all of the buds. The plan is to chop branch by branch, remove all the fans and then hang on hangers. Once everything is ready to hang in the closet, we'll wash and rinse all of the buds. Then we'll let them drip-dry for a couple of hours before going to the drying closet. It's an extra step and will take a little time, but it will also get rid of any dirt/DE/dust on the buds. It also seems to help even out the dry/cure. I'm looking forward to squishing her soon :yummy:

All I can say is "Wow," BudMan.

I could say more, but "Wow" just about sums it up! :thumb:

She's got that "done" look about her as well, and I don't mean the "I'm getting sick of looking at it" done!
Agreed. The random calyx full of nanners says so too.
And nice save on the branch and moving it into the spot where you want it to be. :thumb:
Thanks Shed. It makes for a lopsided plant, but at least she has an even canopy.
Can you flush the salts out of a SIP with more bottom watering?
At least in my mind, the fresh water will take the same path to the plant as the nutrients did, and it should pick up salts along the way. Maybe?

Them damn buds grew all the way to the dirt! Ridiculous.
Thanks RSR. She was so short when she started flowering and didn't have that many colas. She sure packed some buds on the ones she had, though :)

Gina (FastBuds Gelato Auto)
Date: 5/23/23 Day# 90 (Harvest Day)
Medium: 5 gallon SIP bucket with FFHF soil
Nutrients: @Remo Nutrients

Last night Gina got the chop. I started with a final cleanup while she was still in the tent, removing any fans I could reach without getting my arms sticky. Then we took her upstairs and cleaned her up a branch at a time.

There wasn't really that much to clean up. A few fan leaves were removed, but most of the sugar leaves are coated in trics. I'll let them dry in the closet and remove them later. There was a handful of calyx that were filled with nanners, just getting ready to come out. I even found one seed, which I'm thrilled with. I'd love a few more seeds from her, as long as she's not filled with them.

She ended up giving us 4 hangers of buds, half smaller branches and half huge buds. All of the buds are dense and sticky and seem very heavy. Just another 10-14 days and I'll be ready to squish some!

Now the Vivosun Auto Oasis needs another plant. I don't know why I wait until a plant is ready to harvest to think about starting another one. Even worse, I went to my seed stock and don't have any new autos to run! I'm scrambling to get some seeds in ASAP and I'm hoping to pop another auto seed by this weekend. Until then, Daisy has the Vivosun Auto Oasis all to herself.

The buds do look good.:thumb:
Thanks GW.
I bet they will be good as rosin too.:bong: Are you smoking the just dried, not cured rosin or are you making other things with it?:hmmmm:
I vape the rosin, usually with my Utillian 5 pen. One day I'll decarb and try some capsules.

I will try squeezing some this year that's been dried but not cured and see what I think.
I smoke it by putting a small piece on top of a bit of flower in a bong bowl. I also have a Seahorse Pro plus, e nail, that I use to smoke it straight. It's basically a straw with a rechargeable battery that uses removable heating element tips that screw onto the straw part and are replaceable. It also comes with a rubber hose attachment that allows hooking the straw up to a bong to cool the hit. It's simple and pretty cheap. Around $40.
I try and limit my rosin smoking as it diminishes my bud smoking enjoyment if done to excess. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Congrats on the chop and the heavy hangers...they're bending down from all the weight! And that purple really adds a little something special to the look. Nice mutant after all.
:welldone:
Thanks Shed, she really turned into quite the beauty, didn't she? Her big buds were very dense, hence the bending hangers. And I love the purple ad well.
