Limited Space & Resources - Zombie Ninja's PC Grow Box Experiment Journal!

dont worry Jandre will set you straight :) those numbers have mixed meanings if not mixed proper.
I do know that when he comes back you will understand. Jandre is a great grower and I always learn from him:)

Here is a list of the nutrient content on the back of the bag. I hope you can see it okay I caught hell tryin to get it n focus lol:

I could try to exsplain but it would take me along time to type it out(but I will) but jandre can put it in words that you will understand better:)

I wasn't suggesting you were wrong about what is in that bag. Was just wondering where that .5% came from.
I'm sure that analysis is correct. I've always looked at the ratios with nutes. Would that stuff be 1-1-1/2?

I couldn't tell you what the percentage of nitrogen is in the mountain of manure behind my barn.
Maybe it isn't composted as long. I pile it up and turn it until planting season then broadcast the cow manure
on the corn field and a mix of cow and chicken on the soy before plowing.
The mix gives me results much like a 36-0-0 fertilizer on the garden. A tiny bit goes a long way.

Fish cake stop being lazy and just type it out

The composted manure has a nitrogen content of 0.5%, The MG has 21% nitrogen.... and you're telling me the nitrogen is too rich in the compost??? The main reason I picked this composted soil up was because the listed nutrient contents were so low. It was the closest to 0 out of all the soils I seen, I figured at least this way I could know for sure what nutrients (and how much) I could give the plants without burning them, because I have no idea the content of my yard dirt. If I'm wrong, correct me lol but my was my thinking behind the purchase.

Has currently 0.5... it can climb quite rapidly if "green bio mass" gets mixed in. Plus as soils go, most "soils" will never have a content over 1.1 on any of the NPK scales.

Fertilizers are where the numbers are high.

The difference is the slow production, and release of nutrients from the the "soil" vs. the pouring on, and subsequent wasting by runoff of a fertilizer-infused water. If the manure starts to decompose more rapidly, it will release more N than the plant can handle. This is the reason, I suggested mixing it with pure potting soil with no ferts in it- just the medium itself. I'm not saying it WILL happen, just that it could, so in my mind it is better to err on the side of caution.

Thanks Jandre!!! Most helpful as always!!! +reps

Alot of things grow very well here in summer gardens, corn, squash, peaches, strawberries, watermelons, pumpkins, all kinds of things thrive here ... the majority of locals fertilize our soil with 10-10-10 and lime.I almost want to start another plant and give it strictly this to see how well it would do..

keep an eye out for something called john innes

its more of a formula for compost makers to follow than a brand.
john innes no1 being for seeds and cuttings i believe no2 gen purpose and 3 is stronger.

thats one down side of having tunnel vision for specialist canna products is we sometimes dont pay attention to normal gardening and all the really cool products that have been around since way before the canna culture was germinating ;)

like those giant terracota 'jars' that look like a bell but you can take the lid of for breathing. these things are used to force a plant to flower early...and this was 500 years ago =D

that really depends on the situation. Are you wanting to try a hydro hybrid of some sort, or just trying to cut the burn risk?

I was really talking about cutting the burn risk. I've seen grows with compost and coco in a hydro setup, and I'm still considering working with it in the future. I built a mini DWC setup and I'm testing it out with some of my ladies house plants to see how it will do for now. It's currently in coco and perilite.
but the more I got to thinking about using it to cut the burn I figured it probably wouldn't do any good, would it? lol

not intending to blow my own trumpet, im not even sure myself if this is as productive as im hoping, but have you seen my current grow?
its a pretty left wing organic dwc system really, but its definatly starting to earn some credibility, i just need to up my game and make it more pro. cash is king =/

Yes I have, lol dude your setup is so organized and your plants are so happy its rediculous lol +reps for tooting your own horn, lol you deserve to!

thanks bro, its a lovely ego boost to hear, i think its quite crude and slack compared to my hero's round here =D

LOL yeah, my grow is quite laughable in comparison to yours... that's why I'm stoked to have you along for the ride. It's amazing to see people's grows evolve as they gain knowledge and confidence, that's why this journal stuff is invaluable...

I feel as if I'm contributing, if for no other reason than to show other rookies what NOT to do... I've learned that even though an idea seems like a brilliant one on the surface, it may or may not be what's best for your plants. I've learned alot of shit here. Lmao, I almost wanna rename my journal, 'How to not grow marijuana, and still grow marijuana' ...lol my plants wouldn't be 4 weeks old and green today without this forum.

hah, dont even sweat it bro. i was feeling like you less than two years ago, never really grew a thing in my life before that

im sure it wont be long till your floating on a little cloud posed like budda, dispensing ganja and advice like mana from the heavens
