Lil' Girls - Various Strain Continuous Grow Journal

hi Woods. thanx for stopping by man! and thank you for the kind words! did you ever get your hash pressed? You know I did a search on Pollen Presses on google, and found some small ones for $6.99 and up. I bet they'd work for you!! they make minipucks. I dunno, just a thought.

Ok, I thought I'd put up a few shots of the Cindy99 in the breeding chamber growing Cindy99 x Papaya seeds. she's coming along nicely. I think they'll be real killers.

Enjoy!!

bye for now 420ers!!

I have noticed that I am getting alot of REP from lurkers. I would like to state that this page is officially a LURKER MUST POST zone. I need sonme critisizm here people. without it I am hard up on increasing my knowledge. Please Post your imput when you drop by.

please?

P.S. If you get away without a post "I'll Find You!!" lol stupid movie quotes.

please post your input. I appreciate it all, and will never (well, almost never) get insulted by input.

Hi there lurker......oh, I mean Lavendar.
Thank you for stopping By! I know what you mean. It IS alot of work. I hope all goes well with the drip system. Is it going to be a drain to waste? Those are nice, but can be a pain to get dialed. One time I made one for a friend and it worked very well.........untill the digital timer decided it should be on permanently. What a mess that made. lol I hate cheap digital timers. They're a dime a dozzen. A very expensive dime. lol Get some rest and GL with the drip!!! I'll go check out your place later and see how it's going.
bye Lav

Oh dont get me started. lol Maybe one of the other sponsor seed sites would be quicker for you? I wont go into specifics, but Single Seed Centre also sells the packs, not just individual seeds. Man, If I had a dollar for every time I recommended them . hahaha. Good luck man. I just used credit, and I believe Lav and OMM have too. Be forewarned. --BUYING SEEDS CAN CAUSE STRESS, EXCESSIVE COLLECTIONS, AND SEVERE DEMENTIA.

lol, just kidding. ...Or am I.

I think I saw OMM at the Seed Buyers Anonomous class the other day. :smokin:

hey JL i thought i should drop over see whats going on and nice set up mate tent looks like the same size as mine near enough so will be keeping a close eye on the rest of this one

Hi man! It's a Grow Lab GL80, so I'd bet it's the same one, or very very similar. The main difference is the lighting. I'll be watching yours too. You know, the one thing I like most about the CFL lamps is that if you got a high K spectrum lamp or 2 (6500k approximatly) along with your low K (2700k or around abouts) you'll have a huge increase in trichome production. I dont recall if you mix it or not, but if not, you should deffinatly give it a shot!!

thanx for stopping by. stop back anytime mate!

Hey Mr J:cheer:
Still haven't found that list!:smokin:

Here's a good press.

He's a good guy! Makes them by hand!:thumb:

Looking good my friend!:):)

That press is NIIIIIIIICE!!! totally something both Me and the missus can use. she can work out with it and press my hash in the process. Fucking A!!!

I'm sold.. It's on the 'to get' list, but unfortunatly it's a long list. lol carbon filter/fan combo comes first, and thats a chunk of change. ;p

Thanx for stopping in, and thanx a bunch for the link. I bookmarked the ebay guy. FYI I just pressed 40g moist hash with a damn playdough press. lol that was FUN!!! .....ok, not really. It did come out in nice little disks though. I''ll post some picts when dry. I'm expecting about 15-20g dry. Should be goooooooood stuff too. mostly Cindy99trim.

If I do it in my shoe I may die afterwards! :grinjoint: Or loose the rest of my hair!

It wouldn't be the first time someone pressed hash in their shoe.

I think TorturedSoul looked it up and found that Single Seed Centre has a server in TX but the packages come from UK, so IDK. Ive used credit both times, but I can definatly understand your concern.

It's now showing a location in Canada, which is slightly less paranoia-inducing. Maybe someone here contacted them - or maybe someone at SSC or the other 'bank that was sharing server-space with them reads threads here. Or maybe coincidence, who knows?

Hi Mr J:)

Sorry, never found the list.:smokin:

Jas would ya loan me a cup of "sugar" off cindy 99? looking great. Are you crossing the 99 with a papaya male?Sorry if you covered it before (i'm having a senior moment).:yummy::yummy:
HH

have 2 seeds going right now that are unsexed, a blackberry and duckfeet...so will keep you in mind, if the wind blows that way....do you have any papaya x papaya? will have to look over your breeding again to see what you are doing....that is soooo cool, and we have alot of the same seeds going, or at least the seeds...may be a while before they see dirt...and the clay extruder works great....we semi dry ours or dry it first, and heat as he compresses....no mold so far....hugs, lavendar
would love to see a papayax blkberry:yummy:

hi JP well ive got 6500k to veg then im swithcing all the lights to 2700k for flower is that right in what im thinking or have i got it wrong??

No, that is standard protocol. I was just saying that if you keep a bulb or 2 6500k you'll see more Chrystals form on your girls. I'd still keep most 2700k for bloom though. ;) Good luck!

LOL, sure buddy! anytime. Too bad it's all seed. It'll make a bit of hash though. Crossing list below! Senior moment or stoner moment? Is there much difference? lol, Hmmmm?

Good to know. I'm going to be getting a weighted chaker pollen press, but I'm still looking into cheap equipment, so I'll check out the Extruder. Thanx. Can you heat the extruder itself? I DO have an Ove-glove. WOOHOO!! I havent heard much on the blackberry, or duckfoot. how is it? Is the duckfoot really suposed to have webbed leaves?

The seeds that are now forming are of these crosses:
Cindy99 x Papaya
Papaya x Papaya
White Rhino x Papaya

and Twilight will be crossed with the male papaya in a couple weeks as well. After that I will most likely backcross some of the seeds with the male papaya clone that I kept, and so on.

Are you sprouting all of those soon?:thumb:

Just thought I'd put up a new pick of a White Rhino bud from my 1st rhino harvest. Very sativa dominant, and Still curing. GREAT killer smoke! for me it's one hit shit. (exept for lately. I've had some migrain action recently, so it's more like 1 bowl shit in that case. Just get soo stonedso I pass out and can sleep off the headache.)

..anyways, here are a few pictures for yall!
Enjoy!

I've also made a new batch of Hash. I'll post some pictures of the Newb Disks when they are dry. It was about 40g wet, so I'm guessing it'll be around 15g dry? I know I keep changing my guestimate, but what can I say, I'm indecisive. lol

Just thought I'd share some interesting breeding info.
I copied it from Butchers Slaughter thread. He got it from the 420mag breeding section I believe..... Interesting Info I though everyone might like. ;)

Originaly Written By Nico Esondido :

Selection of Phenotypes

The selection process in creating new strains is one of the most important aspects of breeding. Selection is the process of finding both a male and female plant from specific genotypes with which to produce seeds. Selecting different genotypes for use in sexual reproduction will result in the creation of a new hybrid strain. Selection of a male and female from the same genotype (line) will result in a new generation of that same genotype—one that may or may not express the same phenotypes of the parents.

Breeders are most often interested in crossing two different genotypes for the purpose of inventing a strain that will have new and desired characteristics, such as a different flavor or aroma or degree of potency. Sometimes breeders choose to use the same genotype for both the mother and father in order to strengthen characteristics that are already popular but not quite stable (meaning that they don't always reappear in the offspring).

In order to have a successful breeding program, breeders require lots of space that will allow them to make selections from hundreds or even thousands of plants. Selection is done by visual inspection of the plants in their mature state. Breeders look for basic characteristics in a population that they found favorable in the parents. These characteristics can include height, color, resistance to mold or insects, or any one of hundreds of other traits. The bigger the selection, the better the chances of finding the exact right parents.

Once parents of the same genotype are chosen, they are crossed either with each other in the hopes of uncovering hidden phenotypes of that same line, or with completely different genotypes from a different or previous selection to create a new hybrid line. When crossed with the same genotype, an inbred line (IBL) is created. This can be good, as it creates a homogenous garden for the grower, but it can also lead to reduced size and productivity—a condition known as inbreeding depression—if it's continued over multiple generations. In the casewhere different genotypes are crossed, the resulting genetic line will possess hybrid vigor, whereby the offspring show better size, strength, potency and yield than the parents, not to mention new sets of exciting phenotypes.

When two parents from differing genotypes are crossed, the result is called an F1 hybrid. An F1 hybrid is the first generation of a new strain. F1s usually show excellent growth and vigor, but are sometimes unstable. As such, breeders will produce hundreds of F1 seeds to grow out and then select for the desired traits. Once the selection is complete, a breeder may choose to recross this new hybrid with one of the parents in order to stabilize or strengthen a particular characteristic. This is known as backcrossing. In order to backcross to the original parents, breeders must have an in-depth knowledge of both the strains they're working with and how genes work.

How Genes Work

Genes are the basic units of heredity. They provide the coded instructions within DMA that lead to the expression of hereditary characteristics. Gene pairing creates a pattern of genetics that is unique to each plant. These gene pairs can be likened to a zipper, where each side comprises a specific gene—one inherited from the mother and the other from the father.

Gene pairs are denoted by a pair of letters: CC, Cc, Nn, nn, and so on. Capital letters refer to dominant genes, while lowercase letters refer to recessive genes. Different letters refer to different traits of the plant, and any letter can be assigned to any gene pair when creating a breeding program.

An essential part of understanding how genes are expressed is to understand the relationship between phenotypes and alleles. As we've discussed, a phenotype is a summary of all the recognizable characteristics of a plant (smell, color, height, etc.] brought about by environmental conditions. An a/(e(e is the specific, alternative form of any one gene or characteristic. This differentiation is important to remember because it can help breeders isolate the specific traits of a phenotype that are desirable for the next generation of offspring in a breeding program.

Essentially, breeders try to figure out the frequency with which the alleles of a particular trait are expressed. A principle of genetics known as the Harvey-Weinberg Model states that dominant alleles will not necessarily always have the highest frequency (or appearance] within a population, nor will the recessive allele always have the lowest frequency. This means that when creating hybrids by crossing two different strains, the dominant traits will not be spread to the entire set of offspring, nor will the recessive traits die out completely.

Knowing this, breeders will map out their breeding program by assigning letter values to every possible allele of a given phenotype. This is why having lots of space for large-scale selection is so important to the breeding process. In order for breeders to ensure they have uncovered every possible allele, they first need to grow out large quantities of each parent and then an even larger number of their offspring. Once this is done and a population of a given gene pool is grown out, breeders can calculate the frequency of occurrence for a given trait by dividing the number of a specific type of allele by the total number of alleles in the gene pool.

Once a breeder selects those traits that he or she wants to breed into a new strain, they can determine by the frequency of those alleles whether or not backcrossing should be done in order to attain, or bring out, those desired alleles. If the frequency of those traits occurs in only a small percentage of plants, the breeder may decide to try backcrossing to a parent that possessed that allele as a dominant trait, thus redefining that allele and possibly making a more dominant trait with a higher frequency of occurrence.

Now isn't that cool stuff? Gets a little technical, but not too bad really.

Hey JL, amazing to me what you get in that small space. Is your new tent set up for a ScroG, or is the wire for later support? :goodjob:

I'll be baaach :Rasta:

Hi Horse! Thanx for stopping in man! The new tent is set up for a SCRoG but I am using it mostly for later support now since my plants were smaller and transfered from the old bloom area. One already has screen in the canopy, and is attached to the wire frame. I have some trellis netting I can cut into squares for each of the 4 sections of the tent. I did this because I stagger my plants by about 2 weeks (depending on bloom time) so I can get a yield about every 2 or 3 weeks. I've been slacking on the timeframe a little, Dont really care as long as they are generally staggered. That way I can just take out the section of screen on one plant at a time, and not have to mess iwith the others. I can also slide the wire up and down depending on the plant height. I think it'll work alright, but have yet to see. I put the Twilight in there the other day, so now she's aqward in the middle. thats 5 plants in the space that I designed for 4, so I'm winging it a little this go, but didn't want to wait to see how the Twilight turns out. So far she's a great plant. I just hope that she gets nice and dark purple like she is supposed to. We'll see.

later man,
jason:Rasta:
