Leftout Trying Again! This Time Inside! My First Inside Promix Soil Grow: Follow For Puffs & Fun!

Kitty has some kits right in that price range. :) Prices run a bit under $1USD per watt shipped. There's a 480 watt kit running 4 boards like mine, with sinks, for under $330 USD, plus shipping of $100 or so.

What do you think @Duggan? Should I try to make my own board? Maybe I could get something super stronger then what I would get if I just buy it?

:passitleft:

I think Gray is your go to here. I'm sure he'll reccomend it and help you along the way. I'm sure one of those plug and play options will work great but the panels gray is talking about are probably even better, just gotta put a little work in.

:passitleft:

Well, no, it's not that easy - some guidance is helpful. :)

I wouldn't recommend getting into complicated conversations with Chinese reps. It's much better (in multiple ways) to know what you want first. The only reason to fool with this new stuff is that it's so much better than everything else. In a couple years, the mainstream sellers will all be using it. In fact, MarsHydro just announced that they've been making them for another seller for awhile, and are bringing their own panels to market now, probably within months.

So, first figure out how much light you want. Gotta start from there. Think in terms of 35-50 watts per square foot for instance. I use 670 watts in a 4x4 and that's more than enough. If you want to consider Kitty's stuff, I can translate all the geek speak. Some of what you see is just the board, some are full kits. I'm sure they have a kit to suit your needs - that's pretty close to plug n play.

Congrats Lefty. I am enjoying your journal.
Well thank you oldtimer! Thats really nice of you! Welcome take a chair and enjoy the show! This is my second try and so far so good! Now I’m shopping for some new lights and I might have found the right thing! But will keep it a secret :passitleft: till it gets here.... or better said the 2 of them :ganjamon:

Here you go Old timer :passitleft:

Thx for the seat & a hit or 2. Am looking at a starter LED but not until my next seed drop, prolly Jan or Feb. Still "practicing" on bag seed.

You should try Doc’s hibrix soil Kit! For your medium, Its super easy super simple and there’s lots of people on the magg that use it so you have full support and you got me! Give you top shelf meds! And it’s 100% organic and for the lights wait and see what I’m getting... maybe you will like it and get something similar

:passitleft::cough:

Mornin Lefty......those kits are great if you have time, patience and more time.....and are not in a hurry........i would say...for this time , get the biggest ,baddest 'plug and play' led light u can can......this time!
Just my opinion.....THIS TIME!
The on that @Graytail and me were looking at yesterday was pretty much a “plug and play” light... it had the frame the light strips and the driver... when It get to my house I just need to plug everything together and voila...

:passitleft:

Nope, these are mounted on sinks, so you can just hang them without framing, and it's just a matter of wiring - easy straightforward stuff, well labeled, etc.

And you know I want you to start thinking about strips, Duggs. I'll have you coach him through the wiring. :slide: I told you that my kitchen converted from fluorescent to Samsung strips, didn't I? Gorgeous light! The U should be doing it ASAP for their efficiency and long life. You can get in on that purchase. :)

Preach him! Preach him! :passitleft:

Maybe it would be cheaper if we order the 2 I need and yours at the same time and then I pass by Duggans place or I just ship it there...:slide:

Well, Duggan's setup ain' broke, so ... no need to fix anything. :) :thumb:

But I'm envious of that opportunity with the U. It's a fuggin nobrainer if the facilities buyer guy starts thinking about it. :hmmmm: Gotta be a huge PIA (besides the labor cost) to maintain all those tube fixtures ... steadily falling apart from heat ... bulky bulbs to haul around and handle over your head - bah ... who needs that when you can just replace a light strip every 50,000 hours?

Heheh, I've always been a self employed guy, so I have to adjust to the way institutions do things. Nobody is actually in charge about caring about anything, really. Stuff just runs on auto. They'll probably still be buying T5 stuff years from now. It makes sense - changing stuff is a risk - better to let it stay on auto, but it always aggravates me that it's so hard to make things better. :hmmmm:

*sigh* ... I should be in charge of stuff ... :bongrip:
